Mzuri sana! (Very good!),
This review is from: The Adventure at Simba Hill (A Kari and Lucas Mystery) (Hardcover)
This, the third installment of Susan Runholt's delightful Kari and Lucas series, may be her best yet. With her characteristic love of place, Ms. Runholt transports her readers to Masai Mara, Kenya's most famous game reserve. As she has done in her two previous Kari and Lucas titles, Runholt strikes just the right balance between conveying the details of the story's marvelously exotic location and spinning a captivating (and credible) tale of mystery and adventure, centered on the theft of primitive and culturally priceless rock art from Simba Hill, an archeological site just outside the game park itself.
I continue to love Kari and Lucas not just for what they bring to their crime-solving exploits - Kari's emotional IQ, Lucas's photographic memory and their unbreakable friendship. I also love them for what for what they don't bring - the need to depend on anything but their own savvy and resources as young women to solve the mystery of whodunit. When one discovers a new favorite mystery series, one tends to worry about whether the next installment will be as good as the rest. With Rescue at Simba Hill, Susan Runholt has put that question decisively to rest. I'm glad to give this one the five stars!
