This review is from: LEGO Ultrabuild Batman 4526 (Toy)
My son, who is six, is an avid and constant Lego builder, and plays ALL the time with his various sets, as well as the many builds he and I have made up.
He got the large-sized batman a few months ago, and mildly enjoyed building it (it's pretty easy with relatively few parts) but I think I recall seeing him actually PLAY with it once, maybe twice. And in a certain way it's looks kind of cool on display. But frankly it's just not a very fun/playable toy and here is why: First off, it doesn't fit in with almost any other toys out there save for the few other Lego large sized heroes.
It also is a really strange representation of Batman. Granted it doesn't have to be a perfectly realistic representation, but it's more than that. It's like this semi-abstracted version that is more robot/skeleton than human super hero. And that's the thing: I think this whole series just came out of an effort to re-use some parts from some other Bionical (or similar) sets and that is the worst reason to try and design something.
And for perspective Lego/Marvel DO know how to make fun super hero sets. All the smaller mini-figure sized super hero sets are fantastic! My son and I have had a lot of fun building (and adding to) all the Avengers sets, and those get played with at least every other day.
