Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Outset F232 Leather Grill Mitt (Lawn & Patio)
I took a chance when I bought these as there was one great and one terrible review... Sadly it was the terrible review that was the correct one.
I have a pair of Wells-Lamont mitts that are at least 8 years old which have been fantastic... They are starting to wear out and unfortunately Wells Lamont no longer makes them.. I do a lot of cooking and baking above 400F so need heavy mitts that can take high temperatures.
These are useless. The 1st time I tried them a sheet pan got too hot to handle within seconds. The mitts look okay but are far too thin to be useful..

That is because, as the title of the product says, they are *Grill Mits* -- not -- *Oven Mits*. They are intended to protect your arm hairs from getting singed when the grill lid is open -- not intended to come into direct contact with hot metal.

so that would make them even more useless! Since they are mitts you can't hold anything like tongs or basting brushes with them.. so you can hold your arm over a grill but can't actually touch anything!

thanks, Scott. I am also trying to replace my Wells-Lamont Mitts. They looked too inexpensive to be of the quality I need.
