5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly on my AT&T Galaxy Note 3 - No Charger needed, December 9, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cable Matters® MHL to HDMI Adapter for Samsung Galaxy S3/S4 and Note 2 in White (Electronics)
I have no complaints about this adapter. Hooked it up to my Note 3, which is stock, and it immediately output a signal to my 42" Panasonic plasma, without USB power.

I was a little concerned when first ordering because the adapter does not say anything about supporting the Note 3, while the other two cables state they support the Note 3. Don't be dissuaded. The adapter works with the Note 3. I am not sure if Cable Matters just forgot to change the description on the adapter or if there is another reason.

I have tested the adapter with the INCLUDED (not stated in the product description) micro USB charging cable and can confirm that it IS charging my Note 3. But I have not had a chance to see if it will maintain a charge level. It would have been nice if they would have mentioned that the charging cable was included as I bought a charge cable separately because I only have micro USB 3.0 cables in the house.

UPDATE:
I've tested the battery drain a little bit. After streaming a 42 min episode on Xfinity, with the USB plugged in to my TV, I had lost 5% of battery. Not horrible. One quirk I've found is that if the USB power is not plugged in when I plug in the MHL adapter, it will not charge. So if you're having problems getting it to charge, make sure the power cable is connected before attaching it to your phone.

I tried with a Sprint Note 3. It did not work without external power...Very disappointing. Everything I have read says that MHL2.0 on Note 3 should not require external power. I will be returning.
