imho this is a frustrating hand warmer. It's easy to fill, easy to light, and (usually) doesn't go out. In my shop, which ranges between 50F and 60F with the wood stove going, it sometimes gets too hot to comfortably handle (outside the carrier). I keep it in a hand muff, without the carrier. When I go to the barn, which is usually 15F to 30F, sometimes lower, it's difficult to tell that it's burning. To say that it's warm would be a kindness. Just when I'd like the bloody thing to try to burn me, it wimps out. Consistently it does this. Get it back inside the shop and it wakes up and decides to get hot again. So if you're usually in a moderately cold environment you will probably like this thing. If you're usually in an environment that would freeze parts off a brass monkey, forget it. My "on" indicator never worked, but I didn't care...I figure if I can't tell it's burning that's my problem. Oh yes, it does sometimes declare its presence with a lighter fluid odor, but hey, it burns lighter fluid.
