Although the instructions say to read the Study Guide after the text. I prefer to read it first. The summaries are a great introduction to the topic before class lectures and make the text more understandable - it's easier to comprehend the big picture of the chapter in the summaries than when reading 20 - 30 pages of text. Absolutely Essential!!!, March 15, 2007
This review is from: Intermediate Accounting, Volume 2, Problem Solving Survival Guide (Paperback)
The Survival Guide provides the reader with an approach for solving the exercises and problems in the Intermediate Accounting textbook. This guide will help you develop the ability to solve accounting problems. It offers the reader SUMMARY OF LEARNING OBJECTIVES, TIPS ON CHAPTER TOPICS, and addtional illustrations not in the textbook. As I said before, and it's worth say it again, the real value of this guide is it provides the reader with an approach to solving the problems. This in turn gives one an excellent feel for how to apply the material presented in the textbook. I find the ANALYSIS OF MULTIPLE-CHOICE TYPE QUESTIONS an excellent way to sharpen my knowledge of the material. When working through the questions I find myself constantly reviewing the textbook which is key to internalizing the material. In short, if you really want to learn this material get this guide. That way by test time you will be bringing your 'A' game.

Absolute must have!!, July 12, 2008
This review is from: Intermediate Accounting, Volume 2, Problem Solving Survival Guide (Paperback)
Needed this for my Intermediate Accounting II class. The problems are harder and more complicated and this book really helps by breaking down the problems and explaining the text from the textbook in a little more detail. If you're having trouble with Intermediate Accounting II, then get this survival guide. It will help.

A Must Have!!!, January 30, 2010
This review is from: Intermediate Accounting, Volume 2, Problem Solving Survival Guide (Paperback)
If you are willing to put the time into it this book is great. It goes into more detail than the text book on why you are doing each step of a problem. Use it along with the text book and you will notice a difference when you take your test. Worth the money!

Excellent Reference Tool, March 16, 2009
This review is from: Intermediate Accounting, Volume 2, Problem Solving Survival Guide (Paperback)
I found myself returning to school after being out for about 20 years. This survival guide is great. It provides explanations that are easy to understand as well as providing problems with the answers and explanations for the answers! It says you should read the textbook first but I have been doing the reverse. Read the guide, then read the textbook because the textbook isn't as user friendly as thie guide is. I also purchased the study guide but I didn't find it as helpful as the survival guide. If you can only get one get the survival guide for sure.

Tough but Concise book, October 24, 2008
This book is a heaven for a would be accountant and even those who are expert in valuation. It exposes the secrets to every topic that is dealt with at senior levels in mid to large cap companies. You will be surprised at how much insight you can gain on the completion of the book. Make sure you go through some of the exercises and problems, as they will reveal the complications that might arise in real live projects.
Finally, the book is used as a reference even by the professionals in the industry.
