5.0 out of 5 stars Even Sweeter Than Honey!

I've been a Mary Morrison fan from when she self-published her first book, Soulmates Dissipate. I've read all of her books, some were better than others, but I have to say I loved Sweeter Than Honey, and I love this one even better!

3.0 out of 5 stars It wasn't bad...but I can't say it was good...
It wasn't the subject matter or anything that bothered me, it was just the way it was written. Some of the dialogue was kind of corny and sometimes situations would come up that would touch on a sensitive subject but she'd just run on with it. There were times when I wanted to stop reading because it got boring but I kept on. It didn't pick up much but it was enough...

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Sweeter Than Honey!, January 31, 2009
By Avid Philly Reader (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews

I've been a Mary Morrison fan from when she self-published her first book, Soulmates Dissipate. I've read all of her books, some were better than others, but I have to say I loved Sweeter Than Honey, and I love this one even better!

So, now Honey is a multi-millionaire, but instead of keeping her money to herself and enjoying the good life, she decides to open a self-help center for abused woman. This is a woman with a big heart, and she gives that heart to a new man, Grant Hill.

But her happy ending has not yet arrived. When Grant's brother finds out about Honey's past as a prostitute and madam, he can't wait to drop a dime on her. Feeling betrayed and a fool, Grant leaves her.

But the brother, Benito, has a secret agenda. He's teamed up with Valentino, the pimp from whom ex-cop, Sapphire Bleu, stole the money that Honey is now so freely spending. When Honey goes in seach of Sapphire for help she finds out that her former ally is missing. And then the fun really begins!

I'm not going to say that this is the best-written of the Mary Morrison books, but I will say that it's definitely the one with the most drama and plot-twists! I'd advise everyone to give it a chance, despite the mixed reviews it seems to have gotten on Amazon.

And I would also recommend readers who like Mary Morrison books to check out a book by a new urban erotica author, Shay -- Raw: An Erotic Street Tale . No, I'm not plugging the book because I know the author -- I don't! But this is a really good urban erotica book that I think many people will like. Check it out!

And Mary, I can't wait until the next book in this series comes out. You've got me hooked again, girl!

5.0 out of 5 stars WHO'S LOVING YOU PT 1, October 20, 2008
If you liked Sweeter than Honey, you have to read "Who's loving you". I loved this book. Couldn't put it down. Finished in a day and a maybe an hour. Fell asleep reading it because I didn't want to put it down and woke up and finished the last chapter. The writing was outstanding and the characters were great. I even loved the funny parts. Everything in this book is so real. The opening " A special message to women everywhere" was outstanding!!!!!!!! I will defitely share that part with my teenage daughter. The poem at the end was real also. The book overall was definitely five stars to me. It really keeps you going and anticipating what's going to happen next. I LOVE THE STRENGTH AND WISDOM OF HONEY. You really need to read "Sweeter than Honey" first, so you won't be as lost with what's going on. She does recap but I feel reading the first one will help you appreciate this one better.

My only problem was I didn't know it was a sequel now I'm anxious to know the ending. It would have been nice if a chapter to the sequel was in it. I hope I don't have to wait long.

3.0 out of 5 stars It wasn't bad...but I can't say it was good..., September 15, 2008
It wasn't the subject matter or anything that bothered me, it was just the way it was written. Some of the dialogue was kind of corny and sometimes situations would come up that would touch on a sensitive subject but she'd just run on with it. There were times when I wanted to stop reading because it got boring but I kept on. It didn't pick up much but it was enough for me to finish. What really motivated me to finish was that I already knew there would be a sequel so I didn't want to miss any details. If you're keeping with the series, I would still recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Page Turner by Mary B. Morrison!, August 14, 2008
By Urban-Reviews.com (Urban-Reviews.com) - See all my reviews

Honey Thomas has had her good days and her bad days. When Sapphire Bleu steals over $100 million dollars from pimp Valentino James, she gives half of the money to Honey. Now with Valentino in prison and out of the picture, Honey has a new start on life. She relocates from Las Vegas to Atlanta where she want to open a center for victimized women. She finds a man that she's in love with named Grant Hill. Just when she thinks that nothing could go wrong in her new life, her past comes back to haunt her.

Grant thinks that he has found the woman of his dreams in Honey...that was until Grant's brother Benito finds out about Honey's past as a madame/prostitute. He is devastated and completely rejects her, wanting nothing more to do with her. Completely heartbroken, Honey isn't ready to let go of her man and is determined to convince him that she has changed and loves him very much. Unfortunately for her, Benito is determined to keep Honey out of his brother's life. When he finds out a even bigger secret, things look even more skeptical for the couple to make it. Will Honey get back the man she loves or will she lose everything...including her life?

Mary B. Morrison has done it again. Each turn of the page is more intriguing than the last. Every chapter gives you in depth detail as to what's going on in each character's lives. In Who's Loving You, Ms. Morrison gives suspense, sadness, and love throughout the book. This book is a true page turner. If you liked Sweeter than Honey, then you'll love Who's Loving You.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME BUT MOST IMPORTANT DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, February 11, 2009
By QTEEPYEE "PAMELA(QTEEPYEE)" (MARTHA'S VINEYARDS MA) - See all my reviews
First of all the only thing good about this book is the cover. Mary Morrison in MY opinion is not a good storyteller nor is she a good writer. The only person in the book that stayed true to character was Velvet. The rest of the characters she should have left in her imagination. This book had no plot and the story was awful. I will not go into detail because it would be a waste of my time but I have to comment on the scene with Velvet and the water bottle, it was very unbeliveable and unreal. Also in reading Mary's note at the end of the book tells me a lot about her character. This IS JUST MY OPINION

3.0 out of 5 stars Showme63116, November 14, 2008
I just finshed reading this book and I must say I enjoyed it, however, the ending was messed up. If there is going to be a part 3 it really needs to be put out as soon as possible. I am a fan of Mary B and have always enjoyed her books, but this one left you hanging.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big Improvement!, November 3, 2008
MBM shocked me with "Sweeter Than Honey". She has redeemed herself with "Who's Loving You" but she's still not back on her A-game. I'm still going to keep up with the series and I'm hoping that they'll just keep getting better with each book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Who's Doing Who?, October 5, 2008
I didn't really get this book for some reason. There were times it seemed all over the place and I lost my focus. I found it to be somewhat confusing but I kept reading it to see if it things would change. Sadly, they didn't. The thing is, I've read other novels by Morrison and came away with a different opinion. I didn't thoroughly check it out before purchasing it and would have passed on it if I had.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that good, July 10, 2009
By C. John (NY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Who's Loving You (Paperback)
I wasn't all that crazy about this book. Halfway through, I actually couldn't stand it, but wanted to continue reading to see what happened.
Ms. Morrison's books in the beginning were good, had detail explaining situations, etc.
But it seems that she has gotten sloppy in her later books.
Plot is kind of all over the place, sub-stories/stories within stories were brought up briefly, but definitely had some importance with the current story, but it was so split up that at times you weren't sure what was going on.
I notice an extreme lack of continuity in several parts. You're reading along then thinking 'wait, how did they get from this to that in the next paragraph?'
Her writing style has changed a bit. I find that she 'hurries up' towards to end to tie the story up, and then you feel rushed and let down once you do get to the end.
And what I hate most of all, in several of her books, she goes on and on with one of the characters claiming to be 'so in love' with another character, but yet they're professing this at the same time that they're having sex with another person. (???????)
This makes no sense to me at ALL. And then makes the character try to justify it by saying things like 'I had to have sex with her so she would leave me alone and see that I really do love ___'. That's the most backwards thing I've ever read in my life.
