Incredible and creative
This book is so creative for children. I have 3 children ages 5 and under. They love this book. My 5 year old was actually questioning Santa's existence until she woke up and found the elf in a different spot each morning and now she's believing 100%! They get to name their elf and that adds an extra element that they can own! Very creative and just a cute story for the...

Even the older ones would enjoy making this story real to younger siblings! A must have a Christmas time!

A must have!, December 26, 2007
This review is from: Elf on the Shelf (Hardcover)
My mom gave this book to our family for our first Christmas with our son....I am a huge fan of the holidays and this book captured all of the excitement and imagination that makes Christmas so much fun. Although my 9 month old doesn't appreciate the book yet, my nieces and nephews (ages 5-12) loved it. This book is great for kids of all ages, my husband and myself included! We have named our elf and can't wait until next Christmas when he will magically appear and report in to Santa!

Do you hear what I hear?, December 21, 2009
This review is from: Elf on the Shelf (Hardcover)
I heard a lot of my friends talking about this book and was interested. It seemed a bit high in price to me, but we used a coupon and a gift card which made it seem more reasonable. My children loved the story and got so into it. We purchased it yesterday and this morning they were so excited to come downstairs to find Elfie (our current name, we haven't decided for sure so I am waiting to record it in the book). It helped a bit with some behavior and fighting issues. Although the illustrations in the book were not quite as good as I had hoped for, the fact that my children love it and are having a good time with it makes up for that. i would recommend this book to people with small children.

We get it, it's a new tradition, November 28, 2009
This review is from: Elf on the Shelf (Hardcover)
We really love the little story and elf, it is so adorable and my 4yo daughter loves it. My only complaint is the way they beat into your head that it's going to be your new family tradition. A tradition is started when you do something fun and decide to do it again the next year, not when someone hands you a box with the words "your new family tradition" written all over it lol. At the end of the book they make you write down the day you start your new tradition. But even though that part is annoying, as a whole it is cute and we will use him again next year, we did name him Robert after all hehe :)

I highly recommend this product. We just got the book and elf...my kids were hooked immediately. We read the book four times last night and they called me this morning to tell me where they found him. I wish I would have found out about this two years ago!!!!

An interactive Christmas tradition, June 5, 2010
This review is from: Elf on the Shelf (Hardcover)
The Elf on a Shelf -- A Christmas Tradition gift set contains not only a beautiful storybook but a North Pole scout elf and collectible box.
The concept behind this unique children's book is brilliant. Through the book, children are told a story about their magical North Pole scout elf, which they get to name. Each night after the children are fast asleep, the scout elf flies to the North Pole to report to Santa. Then he returns to the children's home in the middle of the night and lands in a new location within the home.
This book and elf have the power to turn every morning into an exciting adventure. Children will excitedly search the home to discover the elf's newest landing spot (note to parents: don't forget to move the elf at night). In addition, the elf makes for a great behavior incentive-kids don't want the elf to give Santa a bad report. Genius!
