5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book For Search Engine Optimization
I got this book for free from the author at a show he was speaking at in Las Vegas. Regardless of the way I got it, I read it from cover to cover. I've been designing websites for a long time, but have been making the mistake of not worrying much at all about SEO. The Result was most of my sites take much longer to attract visitors if at all and most people that land...

1.0 out of 5 stars Way too full of himself.
The book does have a few good pointers for SEO, but the rest of the book is full of the author saying how difficult SEO is and how awesome him and his company are, and how all his clients were completely lost before using his services and now they are doing so great because he (the author) saved them and their businesses. I find very difficult to trust the information in...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book For Search Engine Optimization, February 13, 2010
This review is from: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Secrets For 2010 (Volume 1) (Paperback)
I got this book for free from the author at a show he was speaking at in Las Vegas. Regardless of the way I got it, I read it from cover to cover. I've been designing websites for a long time, but have been making the mistake of not worrying much at all about SEO. The Result was most of my sites take much longer to attract visitors if at all and most people that land on my websites don't find me through search engines.

In a world so full of information, it's always hard to choose witch SEO books and articles to read. It's easy to get overwhelmed. Since I'm already proficient in Web design, I didn't want a thick book that would lose my time teaching me how to declare meta tags.

SEO shouldn't be complicated. Of course, it takes time and persistence, but not much complexity and the author here describes it Step-by-step. Do yourself a favor, just spend the couple of bucks for this book, read it, implement the techniques in your projects and never have to think about SEO anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars SEO for the beginner & master alike, June 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Secrets For 2010 (Volume 1) (Paperback)
I found Mike's book Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Secrets for 2010 by Michael Monahan on Amazon and followed the brilliant advice from cover to cover. Mike's recommendation to consider their services at websitesubmitter and came as a personal recommendation that I needed. In the past I paid for an SEO service that did not materialise and as they say `once bitten twice shy' I am without a doubt very wary! I'm now ranking very well on Yahoo and on the 1st page with at least 2 keywords and things are similar on Bing and Google is improving too. This is thanks to the book and their services!

Furthermore, the SEO Secrets book is an awesome reference guide that I keep with me and have already recommended to all my friends. I see know Amazon have the 2011 edition in print and I literally just now ordered my copy because now I realise I have to keep on top of algorithm changes. I appreciate that in the world of SEO things change fast and that's a good thing - it gives new starters like me a fighting chance at getting in the action, the next challenge is staying up there and next year I'll be looking for the update again and in the meantime I'll take your advice and keep abreast with your recommended online sources for tips and news.

The book has a number of typos but I quickly read through those and this is only a superficial criticism that reflects not poor quality but an awesome service that Mike and Sean of SEOTechMasters at Websitesubmitter are hard at work helping create more traffic for people like me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book But Sean Odom's Book Is Better, May 29, 2010

This is an excellent book. I bought this one and SEO For 2010 by Sean Odom. They both have similar information but I foudn the Sean Odom book to be more educational, have better step by step instructions, and less gloating on himself.

I bought 3 books at the time I bought this one. I returned the other two. This book is genius. Has everything you need and in the right amount of detail. It was so helpful, I even emailed my web designer with corrections that they needed to make.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book But He Needs A Better Proofreader, July 8, 2010

This book contains a lot of good info especially the meta tips for Bing. The author even touches a bit on PPC marketing.

I didn't mind the author's self-praise as he is very knowledgeable and has established himself as an expert in this field. He's just selling himself and his services to the reader. The thing that did bother me was all of the typos. I had to re-read some parts just to figure out what he was saying. Some paragraphs just trail off with no end. For instance:
Page 170, end of the second paragraph reads: "This will help you your focus as the purpose of making critical changes to your website,"
Page 172, third paragraph last sentence "Search engines don't like websites that"

I felt like I was reading a draft and not professionally published work. If you can get past all of the errors though there is useful data here.

5.0 out of 5 stars A avid Mike Monahan Book Reader, February 15, 2010
By Mark Tack (Orlando, Fl) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Secrets For 2010 (Volume 1) (Paperback)
I have been following Mike Monahans book since 2008 when I heard about what he did for presidential campaign websites and social media. I am an avid beleiver in his success and I like to parlay that success on to my own business. It has worked. I have been number one on Google and Bing and virtually every search engine for most of the keywords for my business for almost 3 years now. I buy it every year because Google and Bing change what you have to do to stay on top and as soon as I start to drop a few spaces, sure enough Mike comes out with another book to explain what you need to do to stay on top.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Author To Show You The Way, December 29, 2009
This review is from: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Secrets For 2010 (Volume 1) (Paperback)
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" or unpaid search results. This book absolutely tells you how to do it and it works because it is working for me.

Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.

This book is written by Mike Monahan a well known SEO expert who actually started [...]. The author shows his ability in explaining to the reader his wealth of knowledge on this subject and how search engines work. This is the first of its kind in my opinion for a book to cover so many aspects of SEO from the planning of your site and audience, to working and testing algorithms of the various search engines, to creating SEO friendly content, tracking and measuring your results. Not only that he is one of the first to tackle how to optimize for Bing and not just Google

I find very difficult to trust the information in any book where the author is pushing very hard his own services. Waste of money. DO NOT BUY.
