Idiots Guide to Dog Tricks by Liz Palika, August 5, 2005
This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Dog Tricks (Paperback)
This is a fabulous book for any one with a clever dog - and all our dogs are clever aren't they? Especially coming out in the summer, this is the perfect book to get for any kid who has a dog, but it isn't just for kids.
Ms Palika clearly explains the tricks step by step, starting with basic tricks and then expanding to make them all unique. Many of the tricks can be adapted to "real life" such as picking up toys. Some of the other tricks will make your dog the hit of any party.
A fun book at a reasonable price for any dog lover!

Great Little Book, January 9, 2007
This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Dog Tricks (Paperback)
Well written - cute tricks that aren't hard.... I took this book step by step and made sure my dog knew each one in succession. Tricks are built upon other commands.... - so it's not a 'fast book'.... sometimes it take a week to get to the next one. Great suggestions though.

Great Book, wonderfully explained methods, June 19, 2010
This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Dog Tricks (Paperback)
I like this book more than the other trick books I have read because it has a lot of explanation (instead of 500 tricks you'll never teach your dog). The first chapter really explained why some things work and others don't, and how to really improve and get beyond the plateau that my dog and I are currently at. It makes complete sense and I can't wait to make some changes in my training and go spend 10 minutes with my dog.
Further, the trick training has really gotten my dog happy, excited, and anxious to work; she's gotten bored with heel, stay, and come. Even good treats haen't kept her interest, and we haven't been doing much training lately. Trick training has renewed our interest in fun and we're having a great time together. Now 10 minutes a day isn't a chore.

Fun Games for Dogs, May 7, 2010
This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Dog Tricks (Paperback)
I've had this book for years and still use it to train my dogs tricks. Step by Step instructions teach you how to train your dog to do fun and challenging tricks. Lots of informative tips. Learn as you go. Builds on basic commands. Some dogs will learn quicker and some dogs have a natural inclination for certain types of tricks. (My Labs like to retrieve, My collies like to herd) Pick which tricks your dog will enjoy. Make it fun and it will be worth your time. Your dog will have fun while he or she learns new things.
