Excellent - Worth Every Penny!!!
I highly recommend this title along with all the other SEO titles available at www.Lynda.com. I have an annual subscription that lets me watch this and hundreds of other training tutorials. This is a GREAT company. You should subscribe to the site if you want the best deal in town.

Has been.. couple chapters are still useful
This was my first lynda course. I'm a professional web developer with a fair level knowledge, so I was expecting to know some of the material. However, I was disappointed to find that many of the web tools and urls are no longer available. Also, there are more than a few chapters dealing with very basic web design things. Setting a title on your page may be classified as...

This was my first lynda course. I'm a professional web developer with a fair level knowledge, so I was expecting to know some of the material. However, I was disappointed to find that many of the web tools and urls are no longer available. Also, there are more than a few chapters dealing with very basic web design things. Setting a title on your page may be classified as SEO, but I don't need a 20 min explanation of how to do it in Dreamweaver 8.0. Yes, DW8.. Even a newbie could figure out this process on their own.
In all I found two chapters useful. As they saved be a few hours of searching online, but not nearly enough to be worth the price tag. If you can find it used for under $50. It might be worth it for someone who is new to web design, but if proficient at figuring out the changes that have occurred in DW.
The teaching style was adequate, but the material is just to long in the tooth. Lynda, please make a new course.

Wonderful Introduction to Search Engine Optimization, January 7, 2008

I just finished this training and have to say it is wonderful. SEO is such a hot topic, and the trainer, Richard John Jenkins, does a wonderful job in covering the topic in fine detail. The foundation of what is obtained from this training can be used to drastically improve a website's ranking in the major search engines using ethical methods, without resorting to "black hat" tactics.

I discovered search engine optimization after having a website up for 3 yeaars that never seemed to generate any business. In fact, I couldn't get my company name to come up when I searched for it myself. In doing some marketing research I discovered this process called search engine optimization (SEO) and what you didn't know about it could hurt you. And it was. I then discovered John's SEO CD that taught everything I needed to know in a way that I could easily comprehend. He teaches using lots of live examples so you know exactly what he's talking about. John is an excellent teacher and reveals valuable resources in his tutorial. Step by step he tells you what you need to do and why you need to do it. What he teaches not only improves one's website, but marketing in general. I highly recommend John's CD and urge everyone to learn about SEO. [...]

After searching all over the web for local and online training courses, SEO by Richard John Jenkins, was bar far the best resource I have found. If you are starting to delve into SEO, this is a great solution for training. Since Richard is an SEO specialist himself he has a wealth of information and resources that he shares with you. Richard was really able to connect the dots for me in an easy to follow way. I have been able to immediately implement what I have learned to optimize my company's site and am looking forward to higher rankings soon! I would definitely recommend this class. I chose to spend the well worth it price of $150 as opposed to the thousands of dollars a month that SEO firms can charge. I have been thrilled with this purchase and so will you!

I thought I was pretty web savvy until I decided to tackle search engine optimization (SEO) -- NOT. Then along came Richard Jenkins and his CD on SEO. I thought this would just be another fluffy teaser CD geared toward [..]into buying expensive consulting services; so typical of technology marketing these days. But, boy was I wrong. Jenkins' CD is jam packed with useful, actiononable information. It's like putting your mouth to a fire hose. Not only is the information immediately usable, but also his teaching manner is accessible, unpretentious, and crystal clear. His use of context relevant video clips and non-techie jargon assure that the listener will walk away with help and not hype. If the time comes when I decide to hire an SEO consultant, Jenkins' CD has armed me with the kind of information that will make it possible for me to hire the right kind of person AND allow me to manage that person properly so I get my money's worth. This alone is worth the price of the product! The fact is, after doing the CD I was redesigning my websites and off and running immediately. This material gives you the critical information you need to get visible on the web with the least amount of expense, rapidly. The topic of SEO is still a complicated art/science for me, but now, at least, I feel I have the basic skills to wend my way through the maze without getting trapped by expensive consultants or shady, "black hat" marketing tactics. If you have a business and web-presence is important to you - do yourself a favor and buy this CD. You're nuts if you don't.

Best source to get a handle on the SEO mystery., April 5, 2007

This video explains not only SEO processes and sources, but also how to go about the thought processes and the also the correct way (white hat) to go about performing SEO services for your site and your customers if you are in the business. I thoroughly enjoyed Richards cavalier and no nonces approach in this video. If you want a quick jump start into the SEO world, I recommend this video.

SEO simplified, March 30, 2007

I have gone through a few other tutorials and the only thing they had in common was that they were BORING. This is not the case with Richard Jenkins' SEO videos. He is able to present vital information in a way that is very easy to understand and his scense of humor makes the video series very enjoyable to watch. I would recommend this tutorial series to anyone who wants to understand search engine optimization.

Groovy resource present energetically., November 19, 2006

Before starting this title, I had no idea what "SEO" was, and I certainly wasn't really very enthusiastic about it simply because it sounded like it might be rather dry and humourless. I had, however, always recognised the intrinsic value in getting search engine rankings right and so I thought I'd just have to slog through it and try to stay awake, especially because I was really dying to get into other books I'd also bought on much 'cooler' stuff like Flash and Photoshop.
I can now say though that SEO is, apart from being super-important, really interesting and cool. Thanks to Richard John Jenkins' excellent skills, wide-ranging knowledge and enthusiastic presentation I now feel really geared up and well-prepared to go and improve my own site's rankings. How many times throughout his illuminating explanations did I say 'Doh!' out loud (ala Homer Simpson) as I realised I had committed many of the classic SEO errors mentioned. Well, Richard really hats you up and shows you, with real hands-on examples, just how to set your SEO straight and improve those all-important search engine rankings by demonstrating a miriad of tools, most of which are available free on the Internet, to optimise your site's searchability,...or perhaps 'rankability' or indexability' would be more appropriate.
I know that I'll be redesigning my site, which it probably needed for other reasons anyway, and I'll definitely be gearing it toward being much more search engine friendly. I can highly recommend this book.
