5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific - For an electric
I purchased the Milwaukee electric chainsaw five years ago because I did not want to store gasoline anywhere in the house. Like any other Milwaukee product it is excellent and this particular item works as well as any gas model of comparable size. It is surely lighter in weight than any gas model of comparable power. 5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific - For an electric, October 28, 2001

I purchased the Milwaukee electric chainsaw five years ago because I did not want to store gasoline anywhere in the house. Like any other Milwaukee product it is excellent and this particular item works as well as any gas model of comparable size. It is surely lighter in weight than any gas model of comparable power. For use around an area you can cover with a 100' extension cord this item is excellent. The machine is quiet, powerful, and doesn't generate smoke and heat!
One bad point: it's electric and the cord can be a difficult if you're up to your waist in branches. Also be sure to determine which generic replacement chain fits - as even the most comprehensive tool supply house didn't stock a replacement.(Oregon S57)
For the average homeowner working around your home on even the largest trees this saw is a good bet. If you're out in the woods cutting firewood surely a gas saw is the better choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings, April 21, 2002
By Luigi Buono (Southold, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Milwaukee 16-Inch 13-AMP 2.25 HP Electric Chain Saw 6215 (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased this chainsaw in March 2001 and immediately noticed oil leaking. I notified a Milwaukee representative who informed me that a small leakage of oil was normal but if the oil reservoir was empty then I should bring it to a service dealer. I finally did this once I was convinced that it was leaking too much and after waiting about 4 weeks I was informed that the parts needed were still on back order. In turn for my inconvenience I was given a new chain saw. Unfortunately, this new chain saw is doing the same thing. I have put out an inquiry regarding this problem to Milwaukee but still have not heard back.
I must say that I am very satisfied with the way this chain saw works and easily cuts through large sized logs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good saw, not honest about its national heritage though., April 6, 2007
This review is from: Milwaukee 16-Inch 13-AMP 2.25 HP Electric Chain Saw 6215 (Lawn & Patio)
I have had nothing but trouble with gas chainsaws. I decided I would rather haul my generator in a cart behind my tractor (or stack several hundred foot cords) than suffer another chinese-made gas chainsaw with their finicky propensities for not starting or crapping out once they do. So I bought the Milwaukee knowing I'd get a stout American-made saw. But, in words no bigger than a fly's fanny, the saw says "Made in Japan". I suspect it is a name-branded Tanaka or Shindaiwa. I also recently discovered that Milwaukee is now a Chinese company and owned by the same conglomerate that owns Homelite (whose aforementioned chinese gas chainsaws gave me fits) and Ryobi. Nevertheless, it beats my dad's Remington electric chainsaw hands down and I guess I don't have any real complaints about it.

when the time came to get a new chainsaw I saw Milwaukee made an electric. With the advent of portable power generators it made sence. The Milwaukee power chainsaw cuts everything it goes up against. The safety features are great and dont impede the "average" guy trying to get a "job done". Its tough, dependable (as your generator), and will cut anything its gas powered "cousin" will without all the "hoopla".

A very well built device. I have owned several other brands (cheaper). They all cut wood for a while. This one lasts.

First, why you should not get an electric chainsaw: the cord! Now all the reasons you may want to stop crying about the cord and try it> 1)No more stink/unhealthy fumes from the gas version. 2)Electric is much quieter (do you enjoy ringing ears...me neither) 3)Dang, I gotta clean the air filter - NOT, what air filter?, its electric. 4)In a certain respect it's hassle free...no mixing gas/oil, no spilling gas on your foot, change the spark plug? no. adjust the idle, er, not necessary. Choke it? no need to. Did the fuel go bad in the carb during the winter, not if it's electric. You plug it in and you're in gear with just as much power as gas with the same size bar, maybe a bit more. I've learned to deal with the cord. It's a trade off. For me, I'll take the cord. I've learned cord management. I'm biased, I also have a 1.5HP electric shredder and electric tiller.

2.0 out of 5 stars Is this a joke?, April 27, 2003
By Robert Jackson (Key Biscane, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Milwaukee 16-Inch 13-AMP 2.25 HP Electric Chain Saw 6215 (Lawn & Patio)
When I read 2.25 HP being described as "powerful," I thought this must be some kind of sick joke. I use chainsaws all the time with my carcasses, and 16" ain't nothing. First of all, let's get one thing straight, o.k.? Electric chainsaws have their limitations. That being said, I could still use it for chopping down trees and roundin up firewood. However, as for my, shall we say, clandestine operations, I have found this Milwaukee variety of chainsaw to be less than cutting edge, pardon the pun.
