3.0 out of 5 stars power conditioner for home theater
I have been using this powercenter for over a year and it works well. What I like best is that I don't notice any loss of signal quality when using the Coax filter. I have noticed this with other coax filters. The color coded and labelled outlets also are handy when moving/adding equipment. This way you know exactly what you are unplugging. A couple things I didn't...

3.0 out of 5 stars power conditioner for home theater, August 5, 2001

I have been using this powercenter for over a year and it works well. What I like best is that I don't notice any loss of signal quality when using the Coax filter. I have noticed this with other coax filters. The color coded and labelled outlets also are handy when moving/adding equipment. This way you know exactly what you are unplugging. A couple things I didn't like about the powercenter is that it is only rated at 15amps (~1800 watts). So if you have a 20amp circuit for your hometheater you are not able to draw all the power you could. This is probably not a big deal unless you have a lot of equipment and are running it all from the powercenter. Another item to watch for it that the coax input/output connectors have a tendency to loosen up. Then when I move the powercenter my sub woofer thumps loudly. Like it is shorting out internally. This is easy fixed or avoided by tightening the coax fittings. Lastly this unit will not take care of ground loop hums that can occur from improperly grounded cable feeds.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not protect, warranty is rediculous., April 7, 2008
I purchased this to protect a lot of my expensive equipment. When my apartment was struck by lightning, the power supply failed to protect most of the components. I lost my computer, Yamaha receiver, Nintendo Wii, Wireless router, and HP printer. I figured I could call upon the warranty to get my stuff fixed, but the monster claim process is worse than most insurance companies. Fill out 3 pages, draw out a diagram, send all your equipment to certified manufacturer repair shop, wait for all the quotes, send them to monster, and then wait 4 weeks for a response. I am still waiting to get my stuff fixed. I guess I could deal with this if i new the chances were really low because the surge protector would actually work... I would not recommend this at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, November 18, 2009
By DC (NC) - See all my reviews
I was given one of these as a gift a little over a year ago. Today it decided to die in the same way a couple of other reviewers note, but I'm not convinced it was due to a surge. The unit still works for a short time before it overheats and shuts the outlets off, and you can't actually turn the thing off, as the rocker switch isn't working (no click, no off, and no alarm). I also had two Isobar units plugged in to this line and they are fine, registering no issue. Seems that the HT800 is no better than the HT700 was, which is to say the units are garbage. Monster has shown me once again why their products aren't worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars This thing is junk, October 7, 2009
Simply put, I had one of these for 2 years then all of a sudden one night all of my components shut off. I checked the unit and some how the rocker switch switched to the off position by itself. When I switched it back on, the switch did not feel right, it no longer "clicked" to the on or off position. Two weeks later all of my components shut off again, but this time the switch was in the on position - total unit failure. Not sure if this thing is still under warranty but I don't really care at this point, I'm done with Monster products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great!, March 8, 2009
This review is from: Monster Cable MP HT800 Home Theater PowerCenter (Electronics)
I also bought this for my Samsung LCD and stereo equipment. I like the "flat" plug look. It enables the surge protector plug to take less space. It has a high joule rating for protecting your investment. One thing I learned if you use the cable tv protection you may be unable to use your VOD or even purchase PPV movies because the filter blocks out the cable company data to your tv box. Although you may not have this problem i did. I still use this great surge protector!

4.0 out of 5 stars It works, July 23, 2009
This review is from: Monster Cable MP HT800 Home Theater PowerCenter (Electronics)
I try to avoid buying Monster products because they are incredible ripoffs, but I got a nice new TV and thought I would splurge, and the price here on amazon made it a bit more palatable. That, and I could not find another power conditioner. I cannot tell any difference in my TV's picture vs it plugged into the wall. But at least it's a reliable surge protector, and the power conditioner part can't hurt. The labeled plugs are nice, too.

Although the product is great and the protection indicator gives you a sense of security, the looks could improve. Easy to install, and easy to mount on walls in a vertical position.

High end electronics store recommended I purchase this surge protector when I purchased my new 46" LCD TV. Color coding for DVD player, TV, CD player, etc. made it so easy to use and comes with large-dollar guarantee if surge protector fails and any of your equipment is damaged.
