Horrible Breast Pump
I should have read the reviews before buying this pump. I needed something to relieve engorgment in the mornings and to make it easier for my baby to latch onto over full breasts, and this was cheap. This is a good pump to make an occasional bottle for your baby. I have tried the Isis, and this works in about the same way. It is very simple to use, and there is no pain involved because you control the suction with the handle. On the plus side, there aren't as many pieces to deal with as the Isis and it is very simple to put together. On the flip side, the first time I used it milk did get in the handle, causing suction to decrease but thanks to the previous reviews of this product on Amazon, I immediately knew how to correct the problem. As other reviewers have said, you simply open up the handle and dry the milk out. The second time I used this pump, I was careful not to tip the pump and did not have any problems with milk getting into the handle. I also want to add that the Isis bottles do not work interchangeably with this pump. You will need to transfer the milk into storage bags or bottles to store or to feed your baby. If you have to pump on a daily basis, you'd be better off with an electric, but for occasional use, this one is great. It's half the price of the Isis but works just as well. A great value for a very good product!

Suction Solved!!!! A great pump, December 21, 2005

I bought this pump for using at work and for taking on a vacation. It was extremely convenient, and I loved using it!! That's why I was so disappointed when I started having some problems with the suction. Because of my previous success, I wasn't ready to give up on it and called the First Years Parent Service for help. Their customer service was awesome and they talked me through a cleaning process which brought my suction back to life!!
To save other moms (who might be having the same problem) a phone call, here's what they told me. I took notes, so for anyone interested:
-To check for milk in pumping mechanism/to clean the inside of the pump; twist the blue rim to take off the top. Then flip it over and line the little blue hole up with the middle of the handle and pull the two pieces apart. Then I just took out the clear plastic part and handwashed the inside parts of the pump separately.
-To put back together; place the clear plastic part back into the blue part. They told me to rub my finger around the edges of the clear plastic to make sure there were no air bubbles (not doing this step was the reason I was having problems with the suction!!) To attach the two pieces, make the hook on the white handle, clip under the white "push pin". In order to twist these two parts together, its important to flip it over again and line the little blue hole up with the middle of the handle, then twist a half way around so the little hole is furthest away from the handle. In attaching the handle to the rest of the pump, just line up the two arrows, then twist so that the arrow on the handle lines up with the line on the other part.
I'm still using this pump and its working great!! I would definitely recommend it for the on-the-go and busy moms!!

I should have read the reviews before buying this pump. I needed something to relieve engorgment in the mornings and to make it easier for my baby to latch onto over full breasts, and this was cheap. What a mistake - the other reviewers are right. This was is a horribly designed pump. It works great the first time you use it, then it looses suction. We found out the a part inside is easily broken by just pushing down on the lever during normal use! Once this part breaks it is virtually impossible for it to work properly. I bought the medela harmony for only 15 bucks more. It is a MUCH better pump. It has a great design, soft breast shields and two suction options (let down and normal) - and it's still a manual pump! Also, I like that if a part is lost or broken you can easily pick up replacements at babies r us - not that you need them. I've used mine everyday since we bought it and it still works perfectly. Spend the extra 15 dollars and get the medela instead. The easy comfort one is a big fat waste.

This is the second manual pump I've used. My other one is the avent isis. It is decent for twenty dollars, my isis has started to wear out a bit, the suction isn't quiet as strong after three months of use. I've been using this for about a month.
There have been some problems. One I lost suction after a while, fluid had gotten into the pump mechinism. So I took it apart and rinsed & dried it (it says to call them so they can tell you to put it back together it was a breeze to put back together if you ever had an isis breast pump). Two it is hard to take the pump off of the clear top it may be in the instructions on how to do it but the trick is to put your thumb & middle finger on the blue part & twist.
(Note: do not put your hand over the top & unscrew it takes too much strength & effort & may also be damaging to the handle). (Also do in the reverse for better suction).
One thing I love about it is less parts to constantly clean, another is that my nipples are flat and it takes less effort to start pumping than my isis (where I have to first use my hands to express milk to start. My son & I have loved their products from their bathtub to their pacifiers. This product did take some time to get used to but I believe that I have gotten my money's worth.
Only thing I wish was that the milk went directly into a bottle like my isis instead of a collection container.

Not what I expected, January 24, 2004

I already owned an evenflo electric pump, but was looking for a manual pump for on-the-go (for size and convenience). After reading the reviews for the easy comfort I decided to purchase it. I am very disappointed. I can pump about 4 oz in 5 min with the elec. pump. When it does work, it takes about 5 min to pump 1-2 oz. The biggest problem is that the valve falls out into the breast milk most times while pumping resulting in no suction. At home it is an inconvenience, but on-th-go it's unsanitary. I have to stick my fingers in the milk to pull out the valve. Once it is wet, it doesn't seem to stay in. I am still trying to work with it, but it seems that it makes more sense to travel with the electric pump. Also note that it is not much smaller than the electric pump that I own already, so it's not very compact.

I am very, very pleased with this pump. My hands never tire. I have been using this pump for almost two months. I recently returned to work and I still use it. It only takes 10-15 minutes to pump both breasts, about 7 to 8 ounces to start. It works well and is very easy to clean. All parts are washable. Very easy to put together. Simply put- a great pump. I love it. I had an Evenflo-HATED it...it hurt and sucked hard. I am glad that I tried this pump. There are only 4 parts, even your baby could put this pump together. A little bit of info, you can wash the handle(if you get milk in it), regardless of what the packaging says. Just take the pump apart and wash the blue cup and the plastic cup and dry thoroghly. Then re-assemble the pump handle. It's that easy. Buy it. I got it from the Babies R' Us Store in my city.

I like this pump!! I used it for the first time last night and it felt comfortable. It did not make me feel uncomfortable or hurt while I was pumping. I would recommend it for anyone to use on a daily basis who has a good, flowing supply of milk. For the price it does a wonderful job.

I bought this pump after my first, the Evenflo Electric, broke. I needed a new pump in a hurry, and I wasn't concerned too much about the quality. Becuase the cost was so low, I was surprised at how well it has worked. There are few parts, and everything fits together well. I am usually able to pump about 2-3 oz per breast in the mornings, and I have gotten as much as 5 oz. The downside is that there are no nipples for the storage bottles, but it is easy enough to transfer the milk. This is just a great little pump, adn I am very happy with it.

poorly designed hand pump, July 2, 2003

There are other hand pumps that give you much better value for your money. the Easy Comfort pump creates a very strong, almost
constant suction on your nipple, which is really
uncomfortable when you've tried other pumps like a manual Medela
or Ameda pump. There is no way to adjust suction as there is on other, better quality hand pumps. Women let down to different suction levels and it is awkward to not be able to adjust the suction level.The pump is also designed in such a way that it is very easy for
milk to back flow into the pump mechanism if you tip it AT
ALL (in other words, you can't lean forward, which is important to be able to do for many pumper because it assists with let down). When milk gets in the pump,
it stops working completely. It may be fixable, I wasn't
able to get a hold of the company to find how to fix the problem(their directions just say, stop using the pump and call the
manufacturer if any fluids get in the pump mechanism which leaves you without a working pump in the meantime). I liked the feel of the pump in hand--it is easy to use
with one hand, but in my opinion it isn't well designed in
terms of the pump mechanism.

Usable on the go, September 27, 2005

I found that this pump was very comfortable. The pump is little and quiet, no motor or cords to contend with. This allows me to use it descretly in bathroom stalls or when the family travels.
