4.0 out of 5 stars The Best Protein Powder Mix I've Tried

I'm not a snacker. I like three square meals. But because I have insulin resistance (pre-diabetes), I was pretty much told firmly I had to have something every 2-2.5 hours to keep my blood sugar steady. Protein powders were recommended (low carb ones).

This one is the best of the various I've tried. It mixes well with water. The flavors are not hideous...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Tasting, High Cholesterol
I like this powder, tastes great. What I don't like is how they don't publish all the nutrition facts. Prbably wouldn't have bought this had I known its cholesterol content!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Best Protein Powder Mix I've Tried, January 4, 2007

I'm not a snacker. I like three square meals. But because I have insulin resistance (pre-diabetes), I was pretty much told firmly I had to have something every 2-2.5 hours to keep my blood sugar steady. Protein powders were recommended (low carb ones).

This one is the best of the various I've tried. It mixes well with water. The flavors are not hideous (I've tried some that made me gag and retch). In fact, the strawberry and vanilla are quite pleasant. The chocolate is so-so.

One scoop and I've got my protein and am done. 17 grams of protein at a go. That's excellent. Very low carb. Nice. Doesn't make my blood sugar go wacky.

If you've got Metabolic Syndrome or insulin resistance or even diabetes, and you don't dig those bars or want to stop to fix a mini-snack with protein and whatnot between meals, this is a terrific solution. And it's not expensive. Stir in water and you're done!

Recommended.

I will buy this item again. It tastes great and I can see the difference on my how my muscles are starting to tone. I train 3 times a week. I like to blend this protein with water, a banana and some berries. Easy to make and you can't beat those 90 calories per serving.

I have used this product for quite some time and it has helped my digestion, strengthened my body, and helped me lose fat. I love it and use it daily! I even pack a small hand blender and a pouch of this stuff with me on vacations so I can keep my body moving forward and also watch what I eat when I travel. I just love this stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best protein powder, January 3, 2007

This is the best tasting protein powder I've ever found. But, what I like best about it is that it mixes well. In cases where I dont have a power mixer or blender I can stir it with a spoon and it isnt hard to swallow like most other proteins are. The strawberry is by far the best tasting flavor and goes great with milk, bananas, and/or anything else you want to add.
The ratio of protein to calories and fat seems like it is up there with the best of them too which is important to me. Too often I come across protein powders with more calories then they should have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely delicious and good for you!, February 7, 2007
I discovered this protein 3 months ago. I lost 19 lbs - and feel terrific. It tastes delicious. Mix it with any fruit juice and you'll love it. It tastes just like a smoothy. The best part is after drinking you won't be hungry for hours, and be in a good mood too. I am not a morning person and have always disliked cooking breakfast - I now just drink my breakfast and feel great. I have recommended it to my diabetic dad, my mom, and boyfriend. We all are enjoying it and just think it's a fantastic invention.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tastes good, wish it was cheaper, August 31, 2006

The whey protein powders i've really stuck with are designer whey and optimum nutrition, and i can say that both are very good in chocolate. I do prefer designer whey because it has a stronger taste (ON is a bit bland in water, but both are absolutely delicious in milk). Dissolves pretty easy with a spoon - only small lumps are left. The only negatives are the price, as ON is way cheaper, and i find that designer whey has a bit of chalky after taste when mixed with water. Its not strong or too unpleasant, but its there. Then again, you will get used to any powder after time.
I buy ON more because of the price, but you will like this too.
Avoid vanilla with designer whey, it is disgusting.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE Protein, May 17, 2008

Designer Whey doesn't have any of the after-taste I've found in other protein shakes. It's a great help to my workouts (aerobic and anaerobic), and keeps my blood sugar more level than sugars. I've tried a number of different protein shakes, and this one wins hands-down. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars HUGE!, October 23, 2008
By Micki Collar (Taylorsville, UT) - See all my reviews
I recently ordered this and it arrived yesterday. I bought the 4 pound jar and I had no idea how HUGE it would be! What a great deal! I will use this for MONTHS.

Tastes Excellent. I am on a weight loss program and I use this for smoothies twice a day. It's also good for using in baked goods to add some protein. Very versatile.

The picture doesn't do it justice. This is a whopping big bottle. I'm not complaining though!

It arrived very promptly. I will definitely order again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Agree with the other review, December 2, 2006
By J. Boot (San Diego, CA United States) - See all my reviews
Vanilla is unappetizing. It is chalky and does not mix well with milk or juice. Chocolate and strawberry have a sandy texture so they mix better, and they also taste better. I have also tried GNC's whey, but it has more cholesterol and fewer vitamins (especially the B's). The GNC vanilla tastes better though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tastes great, all natural a plus, dissolves quickly, October 28, 2009

I was looking for a natural whey protein with no artificial sweeteners, and came across this Designer Whey Protein. It's a little pricey, but it's worth not putting various artificial chemicals in your body. It has natural vanilla flavor and uses the natural sweetener, stevia leaf extract. When you first open the top, it exudes a nice, natural smelling vanilla fragrance.

It dissolves quickly, and tastes fine. I make myself a fruit milk/soy shake after workouts; add in 2-3 ripe bananas, 1/4 lb frozen strawberries, 1.5 scoops, some milk/soy-milk. The frozen strawberries give it a slightly thicker consistency. (note: 1 scoop = 35% of daily protein intake). I use about 3 parts soy milk (slightly thicker consistency) to 1 part milk for best results. If I'm feeling more exotic, I throw in some peaches, mango, kiwi, and papaya. Delicious!

Tastes great, feels great, nothing like a little whey treat; hard to believe it's so healthy when it tastes so good.

**UPDATE** I recycled the containers upon receiving my whey (why can't manufacturers use more optimal dimensions?!), and forgot to check the supplement facts, as some requested. Here they are.

For 1 scoop of french vanilla whey powder, there are 90 calories (15 from fat), 30 mg of cholesterol, 60 mg sodium, 90 mg potassium, 2 g carbs, and 17.5 g protein (35% daily value).
