5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific microwave
We got this microwave because it was very highly rated in Consumer Reports. It does a terrific job and looks great in the kitchen. Super powerful at 1200 watts. You have to reduce the power level on some recipes since most microwave cookbooks use 1000 watt machines. The power level button prevents overcooking. The popcorn button is terrific. 3.0 out of 5 stars watch out the sensor
Don't trust its sensor system. The sensor showed 1 minute and 20 seconds.I saw the smoke coming out of the microwave after 1 minute. The food was all burned. We almost caused a fire in the kitchen.I am glad I was standing right there and turned it off immediately. If the sensor didn't sense the vapor coming out of the food,it should have showed an error sign or turn off the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific microwave, October 16, 2005

We got this microwave because it was very highly rated in Consumer Reports. It does a terrific job and looks great in the kitchen. Super powerful at 1200 watts. You have to reduce the power level on some recipes since most microwave cookbooks use 1000 watt machines. The power level button prevents overcooking. The popcorn button is terrific. Highly recommend getting the Sharp Carousel Cookbook that you can order from the back of the instruction book. Only $7, it has terrific recipes. I've made great tasting stuffed mushrooms, excellent nachos and cheesey bacon english muffins. I very happy with this microwave. It was impossible to find in any retail stores. Amazon gave me the absolute best price and free shipping.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sharp R-320HW 1200 Watts Mid Size Microwave Oven, August 6, 2005

I bought this oven because I had owned an earlier version of the Sharp 320.

It runs well, and I like the controls, but the door is much flimsier than the previous model, and after a month I'm already having problems with the catch mechanism on the door.

The oven's size is a bit less than we expected but the heating time is much faster than our previous oven. With the exception of setting the power level, (repeated pressing of the power level button to the desired power level) we're delighted with the product.

4.0 out of 5 stars An OK Microwave, July 12, 2008
By Beanhauer (Bloomfield, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sharp R-320HW 1200 Watts Mid Size Microwave Oven, white (Kitchen)
My perfect microwave would have (1) A numeric pad to enter times; (2) a timer that beeps once and stops; (3) a START button; and (4) a one-minute cook button. All the buttons for meat-thawing and popcorn popping are an annoyance to me.

This microwave cooks fine, and looks better than the models I saw in stores (which were awful). Still, the keypad is cluttered with dozens of options I don't care about. The "Start" button is shared with the one minute button, which is fine, but by the time they put all that labeling in the space, the "Start" button is hard to find on the keypad. My four year old could press "Start" on the old microwave...on this one he can't distinguish it from the other options. The timer button is also the clock setting button, so every time you use the timer, you also have to press "1" to let it know you're not setting the clock. So the most critical functions are on shared buttons, to make room for the "defrost ground beef" option to have dedicated space.

The electronics on this are also unnecessarily cheap. The beep is an annoying, high-pitched squeak. More importantly, the clock LEDs are cheap, so they are unreadable from certain angles. If you are standing in front of the microwave, and are more than five feet tall, the LED display dissolves into a mass of green lines. You have to step back or bend down to see the time display properly. If you are standing where you would normally stand to use the microwave, you can't read the time display. I suspect it would have cost 50 cents to use a higher-quality display.

I bought this to replace a Kenmore Toast-n-wave that had a clean, clear display, larger buttons for more important functions, and a clock I could read from any angle. The Sharp has been a step backward.

If you are looking for a simple, super quite, powerful microwave oven...This is your baby. The jury is still out on some of the sensor features, like leftovers. But this microwave cooks the best bag of popcorn ever, and heats things up in only a few seconds...Outstanding

Great product. We had another Sharp oven for several years that we were very satisfied with and wanted to buy an equivalent product when the old one died. This oven filled the bill. Same great features plus some new ones. I particularly like the sensor reheat function. No more setting exact times or guessing the quantity of food on the plate. Just slip the food in and press the button and the oven takes care of the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy, December 31, 2007

This review is from: Sharp R-320HW 1200 Watts Mid Size Microwave Oven, white (Kitchen)
Received the product within a few days of ordering, even with SuperSaver Shipping. This microwave is easy to use, has a nice-sized interior, and is powerful enough for the usual popcorn, re-heating leftovers and coffee, etc. It's a great value for the price.

My only complaint, if you can even call it that, is the door isn't as heavy as my last microwave oven, and for some reason, that bothers me. I like the idea of a nice, solid door between me and the microwaves! However, it does not seem to affect the performance of the oven in any way, so I'm sure I'll get used to it in time.

1.0 out of 5 stars melted after 2 yrs, November 7, 2008
This review is from: Sharp R-320HW 1200 Watts Mid Size Microwave Oven, white (Kitchen)
Did a lot of research and read reviews here, then bought this 2 yrs ago. Was OK except that whenever it was running for more than a couple of minutes, it developed a very loud hum/rattle that could not be stopped. Finally, a couple of days ago during normal use, a large section of the door actually melted onto the inside of the microwave! It's out of warranty but this is just plain unsafe. I will not buy Sharp again.
Good luck.

This microwave has been excellent. It is just the right size to fit in my small apartment, but large enough to cook anything I want. The controls are easy to understand and navigate.
