5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
I have used several products from the Weather Channel and La Crosse with no problems. In my directions it stated that it was very important to put the batteriies in the remote until first, wait ten minutes or so, and then put the batteries in the inside unit. For some reason, if you do not do this, the remote temperature will not be read. If James hasn't already...

3.0 out of 5 stars Weather Channel WS-9016TWC Weather Station
Works well except for the range. I can't get it to work more than about 15 feet. I tried several locations and couldn't get much range.

The Weather Channel WS-9016TWC Sun/Moon Wireless Weather Station

Easy to set up. Follow instructions provided. Just wait for a mew minutes for the system to set itself up. Then it is good gadget to have around the house since it monitors several parameters. Relative humidity apart from temperature is one of the more important parameters. This will also tell you if any unit on your heating system is providing the correct humidity and also useful in monitoring when air conditioning your house or apartment.

I've been using the weather station for a couple of weeks now with no complaints. The wireless sensor linked up without a hitch and the temperature output matched the main unit in a little "same room" test I did before moving the sensor.

This station is very cool. It was easy to setup. It uses an atomic clock so you don't have to worry about setting the time. I enjoy knowing what phase the moon is in. The only thing that isn't real accurate is the weather predicter. I recommend this weather station.

La Crosse Technology's weather station, WS-9016TWC, works as advertised. Set up was quick and easy, and only important detail is to follow directions re order you install batteries, as other readers noted.

Being 50 miles away from NYC, the chosen reference city from among 45 to choose from, sunrise and sunset is within a 1-2 minutes published in local paper. Good enough

Time is synchronized with government clock.

Unit predicts changes in weather but may not properly display current weather.

Only complaint is Amazon description does not mention outdoor transmitting unit is included in price, so bought a second sending unit/sensor unnecessarily. "Frequently Bought Together" is what's misleading. Some people may want a second unit, but I didn't need it.

We have had this weather station for quite some time now and it has not disappointed. The temp, moon and time are always pretty dead on. The forcast pictures can often be wrong, but it always indicates a change in the weather.

Handy and reliable!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a wireless weather station that just works., January 7, 2010

This review is from: La Crosse Technology Weather Channel WS-9016TWC Wireless Sun/Moon Weather Station (Kitchen)
The weather station arrived today and within 10 minutes, I had received the atomic clock signal, picked the local city to set moon/sun set and rise times and set the time zone. Within seconds, the wireless weather transmitter began sending signals to the base station.

Follow the quick set-up guide and you wont have a problem. Put the batteries in the wireless transmitter first, then the station, and let it sit for 10 minutes. I did that, and viola! here came all of my weather data.

So it's easy and fun, why not 5 stars? Well, as another reviewer has said, it really is very small. Read the dimensions carefully. I'm sitting about 8 feet from it, with 20x20 vision, and can barely read the display. It's not a contrast issue, just how small this unit really is.

Another issue is the slow response time on the transmitter to the base station. After the initial set-up, both outdoor and indoor temps were reading 66 degrees (as they were indoors and about 5 feet apart as the instructions state). I put it outside where I know it is near 0 degrees right now. An hour later, the unit is still reporting 3.5 degrees outside and still dropping on the updates. It appears this unit has some type of limiter as to how much it can report a rise/drop in temperature. It really is taking a long time. But hey, as long as it's accurate once it gets going, I'll be happy.

Also, the quick setup guide says to avoid rechargeable batteries and go with good quality alkaline. Not quite sure why that is, as I've loaded it up with Rayovac Hybrids and it's working just fine.

This was a gift for my husband. He always wants to know the outside temperature but we have a problem finding a place to put a thermometer outside that isn't in direct sunlight mid-day through mid-afternoon. This wireless product lets him put the sensor in a place that is more accurate for the actual temperature.
