I wish I had heeded the negative feedback from other reviewers. The problem is: Crib II has the market cornered. No one else makes crib tents (that I could find) so I paid $80 for this one.

keeps kitties away, January 31, 2005
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
We received this as a hand-me-down from a friend who has cats. She raved about it and said it was the only way to keep kitties away from sleeping in the crib. When we first put the crib together, sure enough, our cats climbed right in and claimed ownership. I didn't want to keep them out of the entire room since our apartment is so small to begin with, so this was a great way to keep kitties on the ground.
I did notice that most of the negative reviews for this product were because some children were able to unzip themselves and climb out of the crib. Since we purchased this as a way to keep animals out and not as a way to keep baby inside, this hasn't been an issue for us. when my son can successfully unzip the tent and climb out of the crib on his own, I will move him to a safer alternative. For now, I can rest easily, knowing that my son will not have any "furry friends" climbing in bed with him at night.
to address some of the comments that the tent set up prevents the attachement of crib toys- we have a mobile, a kick and play piano, and the fisher price acquarium all attached in the crib with no problems. Just make sure that the mobile you use isn't too tall.
there are only 2 inconveniences that I have found with the crib tent
1. You can not raise and lower the sides of the crib. Since the tent is literally strapped on to all 4 sides of the crib, you need to leave the crib rail in the "up" position. this was really only a minor inconvenience for us. We had it set up this way right from the beginning so we never got used to being able to lower and raise the crib rails for easy access.
2. changing sheets is a rather difficult process since you have to reach into the crib to pull up the back 2 sides of the fitted sheet. And, if you're short like me, it is kind of a pain. This is the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.
This product would have been perfect if only it had a zipper opening on both sides for easier access. But, on the whole, it has been a life saver and I'm really glad we have it.

"No More Babies Climbin' Out Of Bed!", September 4, 2004
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
I will never judge anyone again; when I saw this advertised in the One Step Ahead catalog just a few months ago, I thought that it was one of the cruelest inventions ever made- right up there with the child harness. But last month when my 21 month old daughter climbed out of her crib, I quickly changed my mind. Not ready to graduate on to her youth bed, my daughter would be in danger every night if it wasn't for this product. I could either take my chances and leave her in her crib hoping she won't climb out again, or take my chances that she won't go wandering in the night given the freedom of the youth bed. This is the perfect product for this transition period. The safety aspect is the number one benefit of this product, but I also agree with the other reviews that they can no longer throw pacifiers or dolls out of the crib and then make you get out of bed to return it, and it also keeps them from chewing on the top rails. Another advantage to this latest model is that the netting in the front prevents clever children from reaching under the crib rail and pulling the zipper. It only took me about 20 minutes to assemble it, and it actually looks really cute! We also made it a big deal and played circus and camping games, which got my daughter excited about it. I am so thankful for this product, and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a gymnastically inclined toddler! I will also not judge people with leashes on their children.
Thank you Tots in Mind!!!

Solved our problems, April 21, 2005
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
I have liked this product. We bought it to keep adventurous kitties out of the crib. It has given us some good peace of mind that the cats can't get in!
Here's the good stuff:
- It completely encloses the crib, which definitely keeps the cats out - our goal in purchasing this product
- Assembled pretty easily and fit inside our crib well (Pali crib)
- Keeps things inside the crib that might get thrown out otherwise (e.g. pacifiers or small toys)
- The zipper zips up fine. It did seem loud at first, but she got used to it after just a few zips and doesn't even pay attention to it now. I didn't have any problem with the zipper being difficult to zip.
- My daughter is too little to be trying to get out of it yet, so maybe I'll have problems with her figuring our how to unzip it at some point, but it seems like it would be really difficult. There is a place you can fasten the zipper pull down on the outside of the crib.
- It also had the unintended benefit of providing a good way to keep sunlight off her. I can throw a light receiving blanket over the top to shade her. This time of the year she gets direct sunlight for some of her naps in thru a window arch that I hadn't covered...so until I do, this works great.
I gave it 4 stars because it works for me, but there is room for some improvement:
- You can move the side rail, but it's a little cumbersome. (The zipper does have to be unzipped - I don't understand why others have had a problem with it not moving at all). I'm pretty tall, so it's easy enough to reach over the side with the rail up, so that wasn't really a problem for me.
- It is difficult to put things on the side of the crib like mobiles, etc. We have a mobile that works (Tiny Love Zoo mobile) because of how it attached on the side when the zipper isn't zipped. I can swing the mobile over the side into the crib and swing it back out when I want to zip it up the tent.
- Changing sheets is a little cumbersome, but not really sure how they could change that. I use layers of the waterproof crib pads to minimize having to change the sheets anyway.
- It would be nice to have a way that you could use it with the mattress at different levels. You do need to have the crib on the lowest setting for the tent to fit correctly.
- It is a little pricey, but I don't regret the purchase. I think I've gotten my money's worth knowing that the cats can't get in.
Overall, I recommend the product.

Save Your Money!, January 5, 2006
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
I wish I had heeded the negative feedback from other reviewers. The problem is: Crib II has the market cornered. No one else makes crib tents (that I could find) so I paid $80 for this one.
My 2 year-old was climbing out of her crib so we were desperate to find something to keep her in. Within two weeks the zipper fell off. We put it back on, but it never was the same and came apart frequently. Now we have given up reattatching it and now we manually close it.
Next, the zipper stuck and we ended up almost having to cut the mesh to free my child from her prison.
To top it off, she can unzip it herself by slipping her little fingers in the zipper and climb out. It's also extremely flimsy and tears easily.
Great for keeping animals out, but for keeping your industrious toddler in; save your money.

Pleasantly Surprised!, November 23, 2004
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
After reading some of the reviews about how the product is hard to assemble and flimsy, I ordered two crib tents with trepidation for my 18 month old twins. However, the new model must have fixed the problems previously written about because I found the tent very sturdy when assembled. It was also easy to put together. The instructions were lousy, but after glancing at the parts and scanning the instructions it was obvious how to put it together and it took about 10 minutes. (FYI - I hate to put stuff together and am not at all technically inclined.)
A few pointers: 1) another reviewer helpfully shared that to shut the zipper easily, press down on the flexible tent bar. This really helps.
2) it is tough to change the crib sheet, so what I do is tuck a blanket over the crib sheet. Then I only have to change the blanket and it's tucked in so tightly the kids haven't figured out that they can pull it out. I use a fleece oversized throw in the winter to cover the sheet and they love it because it's so soft.
3) the zipper is really noisy at night when you're trying to cover a child with a blanket without waking them up! This is the one down side I found.
I had previously looked at the older model of the crib tent at Toys-R-Us and just by the way the parts shook in the box, it sounded flimsy so I put it back. This new model is really sturdy and well made.

Life saver!, March 19, 2006
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
My son is not quite two and he recently learned how to climb out of his crib at even the lowest setting. Since he never goes right to sleep when he is put to bed, he would always try to climb out once he had learned that he could. This of course meant that he would now have to sleep with us and we would have to go to bed at his bedtime. Through his restless sleeping habits, my wife or myself were constantly being woken up with a kick to our back or front. I was at my wits end when I came across the Crib Tent II. Based on previous reviews it sounded like exactly what we needed. I was so desperate that I had it shipped overnight. It wasn't complicated to set up, it fit perfectly, and it worked like a charm. My son actually likes it. I think it makes him feel more secure. He actually grabs the zip down flap and holds it up when I put him in bed wanting me to zip it up. It does seem a little pricey but it is worth every penny and more.

Crib Tent, January 25, 2005
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
We purchaed this crib tent when our son was 20 months old when he learned to get out of the crib. I rated 2 stars for the following reasons:
1)He learned to unzip it within a minute, but does not do that anymore, you have to make sure you zip it ALL THE WAY under the lining so that he can not get his finger under the zip.
2)The zipper has pulled apart several times, the first one was within days of purchase, luckily my husband and a pair of pliers has fixed this each time, but I do not know for how long.
3)It is very hard to change the sheets, the entire mattress has to come halfway out before you can put on a new sheet.
4)You can not use crib-attached toys, which really sucks for those children who enjoy them.
5) the zipper is SO LOUD! Even if you pull it really slow, it wakes him up EVERY time if I need to open it while he is asleep, and he is a heavy sleeper!!!!
He is safe in his crib, so that is the purpose, but over all I think the design could have been better. I still can not beleive how expensive this tent is for all of the faults, but yet again, he is still safe and that is worth any price.

Busy Dad, July 14, 2008
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
The first tent we bought had a bad zipper and we had to return it. The second one we got tore at the seams within ONE month. Infants are going to push and pull on it and it is too poorly made to stand up to the playing. I have had to sew it back together over 5 times already. Think twice before you buy it. Even if you try to return it to the company they will charge you $15.00 plus shipping for a restocking fee. Poorly made and bad company. You would think for the price that they would put a little more thought into it.

A must-have for worried parents, July 27, 2004
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
After trying a couple of different types of nets, I finally found this wonderful invention. My daughter is now 1 year old and she only sleeps with her pacifier but she throws her pacifier away to tease us at bed time. After we bought the Crib Tent II she cannot do it anymore and she sleeps without complaints. We also feel better knowing she cannot climb out of the crib or have her arms and legs stuck between the slats.
Well worth it!

This Product Sucks, January 23, 2005
This review is from: Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent II 1, White (Baby Product)
Our son is almost 3 weeks old and already the zipper has broke. If you need to change the crib sheets it is impossible. I can't even get the mattress out to change them. This product is highly overpriced. ($70.00)
