The best combination of price and performance
This product delivers, exactly as advertised. It is good on floors, powerful on carpets, and is also fairly attractive. Try the WindTunnel "Electronic" Canister Instead
That model costs just a few dollars more and comes with an additional powered hand-held tool, and also a hard-floor cleaning tool, both of which this model lacks. The lack of adaquate tools means that this model is very difficult to use on stairs or for cleaning large hardwood floors.

The best combination of price and performance, September 13, 2004

This product delivers, exactly as advertised. It is good on floors, powerful on carpets, and is also fairly attractive. Although the toggle on-off switch can get annoying, with that same toggle switch you can "dial up" the suction power of the vacuum, which comes in handy often. Onboard tools are easy to reach and easy to attach. The dirt cup, like I imagined, is messy to use and fills up quickly: I'd advise to empty it when you're taking out the garbage so that the dust doesn't float up every time you open up the trash can or throw something away. You can't beat the lifetime HEPA filter; it even comes with a tiny brush to clean it with. Other vacuums (like the Sanyo dirthunter canister) need to have their filters replaced at $15 a pop. The power cord can be retracted using a pedal with your foot - very convenient. The noise level isn't too bad - I wouldn't say it's the most quiet vacuum but I'm willing to handle a little bit of noise for a little more performance. This vacuum rates better than other canisters on carpets and it's really true. It weighs comparably to other canisters and is not too heavy for a small person to easily carry and maneuver. I was looking for a vacuum that would perform well at a lower price, and be easy to use and maintain, with not too much strain on the ears. I am surprised and glad to say that this Hoover delivers.

Not for hardwoods., March 9, 2005
This review is from: Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Bagless, S3755 (Kitchen)
I bought this model to replace an eight year old Hoover that had seen better days. My old model was such a great vacuum and I thought this one would be an upgrade.
I have all hardwoods with a few rugs and a canister vacuum is usually best for hard surfaces. This canister is the exception to that rule. There is no separate floor tool so cleaning hardwood and vinyl is through the bulky power nozzle. This nozzle will suck up almost nothing that is on a hard surface with the power nozzle turned off as instructed. If you try to turn the power nozzle on and go over the hard surfaces then it scatters everything around. The only way to use this machine to clean these surfaces is with the 4 inch dusting tool. I gave up after only one room.
This is great on carpets but the dust cup that looks large in the picture, only holds about two cups of dust so I emptied the cup twice cleaning one rug. This machine is going back after only one try. Sorry CONSUMER REPORTS. You were wrong about this one.

A powerful little canister, November 10, 2004
This review is from: Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Bagless, S3755 (Kitchen)
I was amazed at the suction power and the versatility of this well designed canister. It is lightweight and convenient, especially on stairs, while cleaning as well as an upright. When my previous vacuum cleaner became inoperable, I sought recomendations from a leading consumer magazine. It lead me to this and I am so glad I followed their suggestion. And what a price from Amazon saving me over $100.00 from the price at a local department store. You won't be sorry.

Faulty design - poor service - unacceptable support, March 15, 2005
This review is from: Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Bagless, S3755 (Kitchen)
We purchased a Hoover bagless canister in May 2004. After about 6 months the electrical connection between the hose and wand broke due to a very poor design. We took the vacuum to a local service center on 12/31/04. It's now March 15th and we still do not have a working vacuum. The local Houston service center failed to return our calls three times despite repeated promises. We were given the same incorrect part TWICE - once from the local center and again shipped from the central Hoover customer support center. We were told that the parts are back ordered from North Korea!
I will say that the central customer support center personnel were helpful and positive, but it's been almost 3 months and still no resolution.
We are very disappointed in this product and the support and we will not buy Hoover again. The vaccum is poorly designed and if you repeatedly disconnect the hose from the metal wand to use the accessories, the connection will break. Also, the unit is described as having a HEPA filter, but about 25% of the exhaust gas leaks past the filter out the back of the unit!

Quirky but works well, April 5, 2005
This review is from: Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Bagless, S3755 (Kitchen)
Having exhausted my Samsung ultra-light vac, I decided to try this one ... It was easy to assemble in minutes. I used it before allowing our cleaning person to use it and was amazed at how much dust and dirt it discovered on our relatively clean floors. I took it over rug fringe w/o the power-mate on and it started to eat it (not good) and I can't image the damage it would do with the power-mate on.... so bewarned on that. The cleaning folks had no problems using it - so that is good.

So far...So good, October 29, 2005
This review is from: Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Bagless, S3755 (Kitchen)
I bought this to replace my Wimpy Sharp 4.0 tiny canister. I bought new carpet 7 months ago and figured it was time to buy a REAL vacuum.
As a bad back sufferer, I needed something that was easy to push, lightweight, etc. I read just about every review out there and decided on this one. Walmart had it for 167.00, online only. I printed out the page and brought it to PC Richard here on Long Island. They honored it and beat the price for $165. It's a snap to assemble. 2 connections and your done. I vacuumed my 2 carpets with ease. With the brush spinning, it's easy to push around. Since my carpets hadn't had a great cleaning in months, I set the brush on full spin. Upon emptying the cup, I discovered ALOT of carpet frizz. Seems like the brand new brushes trimmed my carpets a bit. BE CAREFUL with the brushes. Next time, I'll just use the vacuum with either no or light spin. Other than that, I'm glad I bought this.

Dyson DC 21 Canister vs. Windtunnel Bagless Canister, June 17, 2007
I bought both the Dyson DC 21 and Windtunnel Bagless Canister. Then I did two experiments. I covered my carpet with dry cat litter. The Windtunnel did a better job on the carpet.
Then I used the attachments. The Windtunnel was better. It had more suction.
Then I emptied the bagless canister. The Dyson has greater dirt capacity.
The Dyson is easier to push around and is more fun.
The Windtunnel is more compact.

An improvement on the upright, June 14, 2008
This review is from: Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Bagless, S3755 (Kitchen)
I've been using another Hoover Bagless Windtunnel product for a few years (the upright model), so I'm comparing the performance of this unit with that one.
To start with, I'll say that vacuuming the house is now taking a bit longer, but the house is cleaner as a result. With the upright it wasn't possible to clean hard floors and actually say they were 'clean' -- 'better' would have been the term. With the canister vacuum I don't feel the need to get the broom out and clean the non-carpeted areas.
A big advantage is that this machine gets under furniture much better -- cleaning under the bed (where the dog sleeps) and under tables is simple. The head of the vacuum fits under most pieces of furniture, so I'm not moving things (or cleaning them less often) to nearly the same degree.
The suction seems quite a bit more powerful -- I started by vacuuming a room with the upright, then going over it again with the canister vac. It was a carpeted room but I was impressed with the additional amount of dirt/hair the new machine picked up. Part of this could be a "new vs old" comparison, but the change was noticeable.
The 'bagless' part of the equation has been improved as well. I don't know that I'd choose to open the dirt holder inside, but it's significantly easier and less messy to empty the container than it was on the old model. Both filters (the HEPA filter on the exhaust fan and the primary filter) are washable in cold water as well, which seems an improvement to me. There's a brush included with the vacuum that's specifically designed to clean out the crevices in the filter, which is an improvement over the "bang the filter against the inside of the trashcan in order to shake loose any debris" method on the upright. There's also a light on the canister that alerts you when you need to clean the main filter, so you're not doing it too frequently.
Handling seems a little odd, but I'm used to the upright so this will probably go away. The primary controls are a power slider to control the strength of the suction, and a button to turn on the brushes for carpet cleaning. The cord is retractable but seems a bit shorter than I would like. The hose is plenty long, and all the adjustments are easy to actuate quickly.
It's a good unit. I checked consumer reports online post-purchase and found that it was a 'quick pick,' but that the cheapest editor's choice model cost $300 and wasn't a national brand (but can be found at Sears and K-Mart). Performance is great for the price, and it does the job in my house, even with a dog that *really* knows how to shed.
I'd buy it again. There are other models out there with more features, but this does the job competently.

Could have been better, November 23, 2005
This review is from: Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Bagless, S3755 (Kitchen)
We bought the Hoover S3755 from Amazon about six months ago. The vaccum has good suction which you can control via a sliding-switch. But it is very noisy and the wand and canister are quite heavy. Together with the large hose the unit is very bulky. The bagless dirt container is small and fills up quickly. It is also difficult to clean (poor design). The filter clogs often and again is difficult and very messy to clean. The Hepa filter (the second filter on this unit) is very thin and useless in my opinion. While it works ok on hard-wood floors, on carpets it is very difficult to manuver. Overall we got it cheap on Amazon and it is ok for what we paid for it.
