Fun gift
This a fun idea. Most of the candy is available at local stores, but it is nice to have someone else put it all together for you. The box is cute with the warning sticker on top. My parents loved it and reminisced for days. They got a kick out of how much their little grandchildren loved the candies.

Not Satisfied!
I ordered the 50's Gift Basket for my parents. I ordered it a couple of weeks before Christmas and the package did arrive. However, when I asked my Mom how she liked it, she told me that there were a few items missing. The packing slip had listed what all should be in there, and the following were NOT there: charms assorted squares,smoothie peanut butter cup, cherry...

I ordered the 50's Gift Basket for my parents. I ordered it a couple of weeks before Christmas and the package did arrive. However, when I asked my Mom how she liked it, she told me that there were a few items missing. The packing slip had listed what all should be in there, and the following were NOT there: charms assorted squares,smoothie peanut butter cup, cherry mash, chocolate cigarettes, walnettos.
I sent an email to Hometown Favorites on 12/17/07 telling them that these items were missing and requested they satisfy my order. As of today, 1/2/08 I have not heard back from them.
Needless to say, I will NOT purchase anything further from their company...and would suggest you do the same!

Overall it is a neat box with some great candy that brought back many memories for my parents. Some of the pieces seemed a bit stale and hard and the moonpie was basically crushed, though we've only eaten a few pieces so far. You couldn't find this type of candy anywhere so it is a great concept to bring all of it back again in one box. My biggest complaint was the ground shipping which was over priced in my opinion. I'm not sure how long this company has been doing it but it appears they have some things to correct in order to succeed further. I noticed too that the candy was all in a jumbled mess. I'm not sure a woman would have organized the box in that same fashion. So please try to correct these issues and I will buy from you again. Thank you.

This product was okay. The Moon-Pie was pretty bashed up and some of the taffy-like candy was VERY hard, maybe stale. I bought it as a gift for the nostalgia, and that is pretty much all it was.
Buy it for someone from the 50's, but don't expect really good, fresh, candy.

This decade candy basket makes an excellent gift for mom dad yourself,or your friends of all ages..These will go fast. You cannot go wrong.I just purchased this as a christmas gift...5 star rated.

My dad turned 70 this year- what do you buy a man with everything- how about a box of candy from the 50's! It was fun to see my mom and him looking at all the candy and remembering it with fond memories.

A tiny bit of candy for the money. Part of the candy was hard like it had been stored for a really long time. I gave it as a gift to my parents and they were extremely disappointed.

I purchased this item for my grandma this last Christmas. She thought it was pretty neat and it brought back some memories for her. Overall it's a great concept and for the right person it's a great gift. I was a bit frustrated with the contents being a mess and some of the candy packages were opened or the candy was smashed to powder. A little packaging improvement (and some bubble wrap or foam) would go a long way!

I bought this for my partner's 60th birthday. Of course, she had fun seeing all this stuff again - though she said that some of it does not look familiar, probably because it wasn't marketed in NY. Our 11 year old son also enjoyed picking out his dessert from it every day and so did all our elderly friends! I found it funny that all this candy has Nutrition Facts on it, something it didn't when it was first manufactured! We called it the box 'o fun, we loved it so much. A lot of the stuff has peanut butter in it so be careful!
