Bayou Classic SP10 works like a champ!
The Bayou Classic cut about 45 minutes to an hour off of my brew time. Got three gallons of water to a boil in less than half the time of my kitchen range, and held a good strong boil for an hour. If you're a homebrewer looking to leave the stovetop, and go to an outdoor propane cooker, this is the one to buy.

outdoor cooker
Paint burns off on first use, leaving it looking bad. Temp/gas flow control is a bit touchy. It is very sturdy and puts out a ton of heat, I was able to boil a 10 gal pot in under 10 min.

Works great - Lots of heat!, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
This burner puts out a lot of BTUs but it's also pretty noisy. I use it with a 9 gallon pot and it gets boiling quick. Served my purposes (beer brewing) perfectly!

Works Great, Awesome bargain w/ the super saver shipping, April 10, 2007
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
I used the SP10 for the first time last weekend. It was about 50 degrees out and I got a 8 gal. keg of cold tap water up to a boil in about 30 minutes; very impressed. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that because i was using such a large vessel (a bit wider than the unit itself) much of the escaping heat burned a lot of the black paint on the unit and emmited a not too pleasant smell for some time. I guess this is inevitable, and they probably just paint them for astetic reasons, but this is a hot flame! I also bought an extra burner (model BG10) for about $10 and a 20psi regulator kit, so if you had an extra stand or could improvise, that would be another way to go to get the same quality heat.
Cheers!

Very nice and efficient, August 14, 2008
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
I have used this cooker a few times for crabs and corn on the cob, it is great! It keeps the kitchen cool and odor free. It boils water very fast without using an extreme amount of gas. You can control the heat output with the regulator. The unit is very sturdy and will accommodate a large pot. The braded steel (Can't tell it is braded hose from pic) hose and regulator would cost you as much as this whole cooker! Just go to a big store or on line and price one, you will see.

Great Product For Outside Brewing, July 13, 2009
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
Excellent product if you are into brewing your own beer during the summer months. Instead of heating up the kitchen on a hot day, this burner does the job...and makes it much faster. You can easily get 5+ gallons of water boiling in about 5 minutes (when it takes at least 20-30 on a kitchen stove). DO be sure to have an initial burn of 20-30 minutes on high (with nothing cooking) as the black paint burns and smells. Other then that, this is a great burner.

Excellent Cooker, September 8, 2008
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this cooker for home brewing purposes, and it was a very good decision on my part. The burner is more efficient with respect to fuel consumption than I was expecting. It is large enough to easily accomodate my 10-gallon stock pot, but not so large that my old 4-gallon pot can't be used too. The flames stayed strong, even in moderate wind.

It's a turkey fryer AND crawfish boiler, in one unit!, May 5, 2010
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
Most outdoor burners are either designed for frying OR boiling, but not both. With this burner, you don't need two separate appliances! The flame can be adjusted to high for boiling, or low for frying. It's much sturdier than my King Kooker turkey fryer, not to mention cheaper.
Don't confuse this burner with Bayou classic model SP14 which is only for frying, or model sp1 which is only for boiling. This model, sp10, is the best value for the money because it does both.

Great for Brewing, June 16, 2009
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
I use this for my HLT, easily will heat 6 gallons to a boil in 20-25 minutes.
I can fine tune the heat as well when I occasionally use it for the boil to get just the right amount of heat. By far the best propane brewing burner I've ever seen. Used it at a few group brews as well and everyone seemed to like it.
The 1 draw back, is my keggle will not sit on it, the round keggle bottle wobbles, an old grill grate takes care of that though. I highly recommend this to brewers.

Great Burner, September 13, 2009
This review is from: Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker, Propane (Lawn & Patio)
My brew buddy & I have renewed our homebrewing adventures after a few years hiatus due to living in different states. We are back together now honing our skills when we broke (you don't want to know)our original burner. We did our research and decided on the Bayou Classic SP10 which had the specs we were looking for at a great price. We have now brewed (3) batches with it & we love it so much, we are going to order another. It puts out a nice even heat under the keg, easily adjusted & controlled, and is very stable with the kettle on it. What more could you ask for.
