4.0 out of 5 stars fully functional and not at all authentic
I didn't start out a tightwad. I already bought a spare cable for $20 at the Apple store. Someone ripped it off from my desk at work. LAME. I am not made of money so I had to find a less expensive replacement. Enter: Amazon!

The quasi Apple-like packaging with a prominent 'Made in China' sticker product arrived in the mail a few days ago. Fast shipping...

1.0 out of 5 stars Product is not as described.
The cable they sent is a cheap generic cable that doesn't work properly. It does not look anything like the image and it is not an Apple product. This product page is utterly misleading and should be modified to correctly describe the product this company is selling (i.e. a non-Apple, third party cable),

While the picture shows an iPod connector manufactured by Apple, you are sent a third party cable which doesn't even allow me to connect my PC to my iPod. A total failure of a product and of a company.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, April 15, 2007
This review is from: Dock Connector to USB 2.0 Cable for iPod and iPhone (White) (Electronics)
Product is cheap and of poor manufacture; routinely causes my iPod to disconnect and reconnect to my computer at the slightest bump of my iPod, potentially leading to data loss. Avoid!

The quasi Apple-like packaging with a prominent 'Made in China' sticker product arrived in the mail a few days ago. Fast shipping? Absolutely. Safe wrapping too: they used bubble wrap and taped it up carefully so no shipping damage.

It works with my iPhone 3G for charging and syncing which is what I care about. If you can overlook the faux packaging you can get yourself a nice cable for a lot less $.

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning: Truth in Labeling..., July 28, 2008

WARNING: the picture of this product is NOT what you get, and it is made by "Inspiretech", not Apple as claimed. Yes, it seems to charge my iPhone 3G which is all I really need it to do, but there should be some truth in labeling for these Amazon external sellers...

1.0 out of 5 stars not a apple product, May 26, 2009
this is not a genuine apple product as shown in the picture, it is a knock off with the apple logo. Still works though...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not an Apple product ! Spotty performance, June 3, 2008

Do NOT Use this cable. Despite the fact that the seller has identified this as being an Apple product, it's not. It's made by a company called Inspire Tech. I notified Amazon that the product details are wrong, but there's been no resolution. I would never have purchased this cable if that info hadn't been wrong. I bought two and one didn't work at all and other cut out after a few uses.

Some reviewers have said that the cost is low enough that you can afford to buy a bunch a throw away the ones that don't work... I really don't agree with that. Using a bad cable on any device that draws power through the cable is a recipe for a screwed up device. It's a risk that's not worth taking considering the cost of the devices you're hooking up to it! Avoid! Amazon sells a retractable iPod/iPhone cable that is about $9 and performs perfectly.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT the real deal, February 27, 2009
By Rekalcitrant (New York) - See all my reviews
Contrary to what is advertised and what other 'reviewers' indicate, the product I received was not a genuine Apple product and was indeed a cheap imitation. The product was inexpensive, but this doesn't justify patently false advertising.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not work as stated, July 7, 2009
Pros: The product does allow the iPhone 3G to be charged, but the plug gets pretty warm compared to using the original cable.

Cons: The product does NOT allow you to sync the iPhone, which makes this product quite useless.

Cons: It also looks very much like an imitation product. Guess you gotta pay the full $17 to enjoy the benefits of a real product.

The picture is of an original connector. The product shipped is a very cheap copy.
