5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This great little product saves me lots of space. I have one of Monster's high end surge protectors and line conditioners as well. I compared the two and I can't tell a difference. Usually my Martin Logan speakers will pick up any electrical noise from a cheap surge protector. I didn't have that problem here.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Product
It seems to work alright. The installation instructions were bad. The "upgraded" cord it comes with is a good idea but didn't work on my TV.

The Monster MP HTFS-IW HC In Wall Power Center was a logical choice for my new Sharp LCD TV. I mounted the PowerCenter on the wall and used an optional (did not come with) HDMI in-wall dual outlet in place of the provided coax connectors plate.

I had some installation issues that need to be pointed out. The wires for the power center are three stranded and three solid wires. The instructions say to connect the line power in to the solid wires and connect the stranded wires to the duplex outlet with ring terminals. A label on the unit says to connect the other way.

The duplex outlet included is not the Decora style rectangular design as shown, it is a common round duplex outlet. A plastic cover is included to fit over the outlet to make it look like a Decora outlet.

The enclosed offset power cable is nice, but it does not work on my TV. It appears to be made for A/V or computer power connection.

Once the installation is complete, the setup is slick and looks good. The status leds can be switched on/off.
I have my 40" LCDTV plugged into it now and it appears to be working beautifully. I'll know soon enough with the spring storm season upon us.

It is covered by a 2-year warranty, plus up to $250,000 maximum coverage on connected equipment for 2 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monster MP HFTS-IW HC In Wall PowerCenter, December 30, 2007

I needed a power surge protector that would fit behind my LCD wall mounted television set. There is only about 1.5 inches clearance between the wall and the television set and I didn't want any exposed wires. This device is not available in any stores (Home Depot/ Fry's Electronics/ 2 different electrical supply stores etc) but I found just what I needed on Amazon! It works great. It took about two hours to install but I am a homeowner, not a contractor. Could probably do the 2nd one in 30 minutes now that I know what I am doing.

Very well designed product. Great idea with one module with nylon fibers to help run, and make cables more attractive coming through wall. Flat receptable plug in for behind t.v. is a great idea, but the other end would not fit in my Panasonic with the bump out on the end. Contacted Monster cable on their web page, and asked them for information if they had any that would fit into my Panasonic, and they did not respond. Over satisfied, but not happy with their customer service not responding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile Power & Cable management Perfect behind Hanging TV, January 5, 2010

Like many commentators, I cannot say how well the surge-protection. I have to speculate that it is better than not having the protection. What is great is the combination of surge protection, power monitoring and best of all cable management utilizing standard decora plates.

I was able to remove the third plate on the right (the one with the pass-through & coaxial couplers) and install a 6 keystone plate to customize it to my needs & seal the back wall completely. I installed two hdmi keystones, an ethernet keystone, three component cable keystones (I also ran an optical audio cable just in case, but it is in the wall with the option to swap out a keystone if need be). I picked up the keystone kit fairly inexpensively and it is working out very well. I even recycled the passthrough/coaxial plate that came with this elsewhere in my a/v set-up since it fits in a standard wall plate.

This is one of monster's better values, and assuming the surge protection works as advertised, than it is a great product to keep the back of a hanging television neat & protected.

Obviously I don't know if the surge protection part of this thing works yet, but as far as looks, it's done the trick. It hid all my cords behind my flat panel very nicely and as long as the built in surge does it's job, I'll be more than happy with this purchase. If my TV gets killed in a storm though, I'll make sure to update this review. LOL!

In general I like the product

I bought this to go behind my new Vizio 55 LED inch I picked up from Sams for 1000.
The Monster supplied cord worked fine (standard VT100 / computer monitor cord used sine the 70's)

Pros:
Tight fit to wall
Nice led displays
Modular wall plate

Cons:

Quite a bit of wire to stuff in a dual gang box in a 6 wire junction
Outlet side wire of the surge box is braided, ideally I would have like 12 gauge solid
Would be nice is surge box had posts rather than pigtails
TV side of the TV power cord is a bit long which defeats the purpose of the close wall mount

One note, I modified the install and omitted the three gang plate and only used the outlet and surge unit. (dual gang)
I did not want to drag the HDMI near the side of the dual gang box.
I bought the dual gang faceplate from HD and the fit was perfect.

good from what I can see but wish the power was recessed to hide that more like other products. Its also a little expensive but hope that saves the LCD in cases of surges.
