Great Collar!
I was very pleased with the quality of the collar. I purchased the small purple size for my dog. The fleece lining is very soft. So far, my dog has not exhibited any irritation from the collar like he does with typical nylon collars. The metal clasps, fit and finish are all top notch. Much better than what I have seen in my local Pet store franchises. For those people...

1 Design Flaw
Overall this collar is a good concept. Nice fuzzy fleece next to your dog's neck. However, since my dog needed a size large and is in the smaller range (but too big for medium), most of the collar was folded over on itself and only a very small portion of the fleece was exposed to be against my dog's neck. Since my dog is done growing, I cut the collar and re-sewed it...

Overall this collar is a good concept. Nice fuzzy fleece next to your dog's neck. However, since my dog needed a size large and is in the smaller range (but too big for medium), most of the collar was folded over on itself and only a very small portion of the fleece was exposed to be against my dog's neck. Since my dog is done growing, I cut the collar and re-sewed it to make it only for his neck. Now there is lots of fleece against his neck and it seems like his neck irritation has been reduced.

I was very pleased with the quality of the collar. I purchased the small purple size for my dog. The fleece lining is very soft. So far, my dog has not exhibited any irritation from the collar like he does with typical nylon collars. The metal clasps, fit and finish are all top notch. Much better than what I have seen in my local Pet store franchises. For those people who were questioning why you do not want to use this on a tie out, *NEVER* use any type of neck collar on your dog unsupervised. It can be a choking hazard. If your pet lunges or run's at something the shock of him hitting the end of tie out can injure or kill them. A harness is much better choice for your pet if you have it on a tie out unsupervised.

Fluffy and Sturdy, October 6, 2008
Hemp Collar, Medium, Apple Green / B000AY3B3Y
I bought this collar for my 4 month old, 14 pound puppy. He's about as tiny a dog as this collar will accommodate, but I didn't want to buy a small because he will certainly grow in the next few months.
This collar fits very well. It is easy to adjust - we had to shorten it all the way to fit his little puppy neck. Even shortened all the way, the exposed hemp seems much softer to me than the nylon we were using, and the more he grows, the more fleece will be exposed on his neck. The collar is very thick and sturdy, and is much wider than the little nylon collar we were using before - this looks more like a "big boy" collar. The fleece is soft and gentle; I was concerned that the fleece would be too warm for him here in the American southwest, but he hasn't seemed overly warm or unhappy with the collar.
The hook for the tags and lead is extremely thick metal - we had to transfer his name tag and rabies tag to a largish key ring and hook the key ring to the collar, as there was no way the tags could go onto the collar with the tiny ring they came with. I'm glad that the hook is so strong and sturdy - I won't have to worry about the tags getting torn off easily. And since the same hook is used for the lead as for the tags, I'm please that the metal won't break if he pulls too hard on his lead. We've used this collar and the matching leash (sold separately) on several walks now without any problems or incidents. I also have not had any trouble with the collar snapping off unexpectedly. I am very happy with this collar, both for my puppy (who likes his new 'big boy' collar) and for myself (who likes the eco-friendly materials and pretty green color).

This is one of those times when a review needs to be written for a product thats "head and shoulders" above the rest. great dog collar, replaced my Goldens Black Dog collar. superb quality, soft liner, great colors, really well made.
"Two Paws Up !"
Also bought the leash and water bowl,
great company, very nice dog store in Portland Maine !

And my dog agrees. It's wonderfully soft against her neck--no chafing, no rubbing. Plus it looks great! (Got the matching leash, as well.)

Overall, this is a great product - very durable and overall less scratching around the collar area. The only negative is the sizing. I would suggesting ordering one size larger than you think you need if you are in the upper bracket.

I bought this so my dog would have the cozy side next to his neck. Well, this collar is grossly mis-sized, to the point where by the time I adjust it to fit him the cozy side is no longer next to his neck.
Also it was supposed to have a chrome clasp and arrived with a plastic clasp.
Nice collar otherwise Just be careful with sizing. I have a large breed dog and the large was too big for him.

Love the apple green color. I am concerned because the collar became unbuckled one time already within the first month of use. I hope it was a one time occurrence, because what is the point of having a collar with a name tag on it if the won't stay on the dog?

Comfortable, Durable Collar, July 12, 2010
When I recently adopted my Greyhound mix, I noticed her shelter collar was causing hair loss on her neck. I decided to order this collar and see if the fleece lining would be more comfortable for her. Within a week of switching collars, almost all of the hair on her neck had regrown! I also noticed that she stopped scratching at her collar constantly, like she did with the old one.
The color is nicely muted - not as bright as nylon - but very attractive. The collar is also very durable and withstands a fair amount of abuse (e.g., other dogs biting and tugging it).
I was so happy with the collar, that I immediately ordered one for my second dog when I adopted her.

Nice collar but could be better, July 7, 2010
I bought one of these collars for my dog because his original collar was too large. This collar is quite soft and my dog seems to like it. I have not observed any irritation or other problems from this collar, though I never saw any problems with his old collar.
My only complaint is the choice to use a plastic D-ring to attach the tags and leash to. I would much prefer if this were metal. Even better would be if there was a separate rings for the tags and a leash. I am afraid the plastic ring might break given how energetic my dog is.
Unlike some other collars I've tried with nylon straps, the plastic clasp does not slip.
