Great Trainer
This Trainer is great. Relatively easy set up. Tremendous customer support when you call about anything that is unclear. The instructions are a bit weak for setting it up (hence the call to customer support). Once you get it set up it is wonderful. Great while it lasted
So my fluid trainer is a couple of years old now. For the first couple of "off-seasons", I really enjoyed it. But it slowly grew noisier. Finally, just a couple of days ago, I burned out the chrome cylinder that the rear wheel rides on. Come to find out, that I know of one other person that had this identical problem! Like I said, mine is a couple of years old (so...
This Trainer is great. Relatively easy set up. Tremendous customer support when you call about anything that is unclear. The instructions are a bit weak for setting it up (hence the call to customer support). Once you get it set up it is wonderful. A truly tough workout, the free Chris Carmichael DVD helps you through your first workout and gives you ideas for setting up other workouts on your own. You need to get the riser block for the front wheel or it does not feel right. During my first 2 workouts on it I easily exceeded the Heart Rates I was getting in an organized Spinning Class. Feels rock solid.

Ok... So I have been looking for over 2 weeks and contemplating whether or not to get this trainer or a less expensive one. Well, I figured from the reviews from the cheaper ones that the MAG is not that resistant and WIND is way to loud. Plus I read several reviews of those models that parts break. So, this is why I picked this model... Great reviews, no defects, quiet and resistant. My take on it? Excellent product and worth the extra cash. I am nothing like a pro but I do take 2-3 rides a week for about 25-45 miles each time. While the cooling temperature, the high winds and the worst drivers in the world sometimes it's nice to play it safe and ride indoors. So the product: Easy to set-up (less than 5 minutes), very common sense to hook your bike to it, quiet, very sturdy, great resistance. Today was my first ride on the trainer and a great work out. I rode for over an hour and got my heart rate up to 174 and still had two gears left.

The Fluid 2 trainer is a good option if you are unable to hit the road, but definitely is not the same. Eventhough it has a great feel and its pretty quiet, the resistance is great I really like it, if you are going to ride outside and also use the trainer I strongly recommend to have another tire, because the rear tire is going to wear easily, but I think this is the best trainer you can get out there.

I have owned this trainer for a month now. I ride 4-6 days a week. I am impressed with the product quality - it seems well built. It was very easy to set up - took me all of about 5 minutes and I did not need to read the instructions. I did not even have any leftover parts.
This is my first trainer so I do not have anything to compare it to, but I am amazed by the feel of the ride on this trainer. It is very sturdy and the workout is more realistic than I expected from a trainer. I have had no mechanical problems to date. I am extremely happy with the CycleOps Fluid 2

I hate being on the bike trainer (would much rather be outside) but being on the CycleOps is not too bad. I am able to be in the same room with my kids while they are watching TV and I don't disturb them with my spinning. It's a great product for indoor training. Very easy to set up as well.

It was surprzingly easy to take the bike on and off the trainer. The resistance seems to get greater as the resistance unit heats up. I find it best for high cadence workouts. Overall, this is a very good trainer.

I have tried a couple of trainers, and they were nothing like the Cycleops. The feel is very much like riding on the road. The set-up was easy, and I use the trainer 4 to 5 times a week, without dreading it. I would highly recommend this item to anyone who wants a great off-season workout.

Easy to assemble, and adjust for the bike wheel. Provides easilly adjustable resistance on the rolling wheel, and once going provides a nice steady rolling resistance. The CTS Time trial DVD in the box was a surprise, so I popped it in the player and tried my first ride. Having never done one of these spinning sessions before it was a lot of fun to get started, and a great work-out! Winter biking solved.

I used to do a lot of road riding 20 years ago, so now I'm not really "in shape" for returning to road riding. I got this trainer when I bought a new road bike since I used to use an old fan based trainer, the fan was very noisy! I didn't like the idea of the mag trainer having a resistance selector via cable or having to get off the bike to adjust. The fluid trainers adjust resistance based on how fast the rear wheel spins... faster spin, more resistance... this makes it perfect for the training videos that are available... they say you should shift up or down and the resistance will then be easier or harder. Actually, most of the training videos I've seen use fluid based trainers (either cycelops or kinetic) anyway.
I do my exercise at night, usually when my family has gone to sleep. I wouldn't call the trainer very quite, but it's certainly not loud. I can be downstairs and the family asleep upstairs and it doesn't disturb them... even with the bedroom right above where I'm riding. I don't need to turn the TV volume up much to hear the audio.
This is a well build and sturdy trainer. It's not light, most of the weight is in the fluid and flywheel assembly, but the tube frame is very strong and looks well designed. It was very easy to assemble, it took about 5 minutes to figure out and put together. The hardest part was setting how much pressure to apply with the metal roller to the tire so it wouldn't slip when I sprinted and wasn't pressing too hard to cause the tire to heat up/wear faster.
I've done about 100 miles in the past week on it (got it last Sat!) and am looking forward to more.
BTW, it also works with mountain bikes, but the knobby tires are a lot louder than the slicks on my road bike, but I didn't buy it with plans to use my mountain bike since the gearing is so much lower for hill climbing, I don't think the resistance from the fluid would be enough for a hard workout since it wouldn't be turning as fast as a higher geared road bike (53:12 on the road bike verses 44:11 on the MTB)

Finally, just a couple of days ago, I burned out the chrome cylinder that the rear wheel rides on. Come to find out, that I know of one other person that had this identical problem! Like I said, mine is a couple of years old (so was my friend's) so maybe the problem has been identified. Another friend has one that is less than a year old but he's gonna sell it to me cause he never uses it...hopefully it lasts longer than mine did! For the time that it worked, my trainer was really great...just expect more that a couple years from a trainer that cost me $300.
Good luck!
