5.0 out of 5 stars Get this for a lot less at Toys R Us
We're going to get this for our 18 month old as a Christmas present - but I've been price shopping and Toys R Us (online and in stores) has this same thing for $69.00. Just a heads up.

We bought this kitchen last Christmas for our daughter when she was 16 months. She has loved it! We have now increased the height and she continues to play with it on a daily basis.
However, the durablity of this product is poor as far as the electronic components are concerned. It just suddenly stopped working and replacing the batteries did not solve the issue. I will add that Fisher Price was willing to provide a new toy, but I had to pay to ship the entire kitchen back first. A new toy would arrive in 6-8 weeks! Are you kidding!! Who is going to take their child's favorite toy away for 2 months? I might add that we had the same issue with the Laugh and Learn House. It seems that Fisher Price has durability issues with their electonic components. For this reason I cannot recommend their products.

I bought this for my 18 month old daughter for Christmas. She loved it, however, all of the electronic components just stopped working after about 2 weeks--major disappointment! I would not recommend this product.

When we were shopping for a birthday present for our 1 year old granddaughter, we were surprised at how substantial today's toy kitchens have become. We chose the Grow With Me because of its convertibility - small enough for her to use now, and expandable for when she's taller. No sense cluttering up landfills with too-small-too-early discarded toys. Corina loves playing with her kitchen, especially with the blender. It's sturdy, durable, and has no sharp corners or tight doors to scratch or pinch little fingers. And her parents like the fact that all the accessories can stow away inside the oven. All in all, we're happy with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars good quality, March 22, 2007

I just bought this today. Like most Fisher Price toys, it was very easy to assemble and is of very good quality. At $70, it is "cheap" compared to some of the other kitchens available. Other than size/height, I didn't see that the other kitchens were worth the extra money. This has 2 heights (very easy to switch between the two) - one for toddlers, and one for older kids. Although FP says this product goes up to age 5, I think the max age is 3.

Our 2 year old loved this kitchen, but suddenly it just stopped working. We just thought it needed battery change, but, I've changed them and still doesn't work. I wanted to check comments here to see if anyone else had had the same problem, and quite unfortunately it seems where not alone. Toy's nice, but durability is terrible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Kitchen that Really Grows with the Child, April 20, 2009
Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

We bought this kitchen for my daughter's 1st birthday. It cost $70 at Toys 'R Us, so I was pretty surprised to see the price so high here. There are a lot of other bigger play kitchens out there, with more bells and whistles, but at the $70 price, this playfully colored kitchen is simple, but still great.

My daughter loved this kitchen immediately. At its low setting (only one row of appliances available), it was the perfect height for her at age 1. It comes with enough accessories that you don't need to buy additional pieces unless you want to. Still, other people have given my daughter kitchen accessories as gifts (play food, a tea set, etc.), and those gifts did really enhance my daughter's play.

She is now 3 1/2 years old, and she still enjoys playing with this kitchen. It is now set up in the higher setting, as shown in the product photo (two rows of appliances available). This kitchen has been a staple in her play area over the last few years. It really encourages imaginative play; my daughter can spend over an hour playing with it independently. She'll pretend to do dishes, make dinner, set up a party, etc.

The only problem we had with it was the blender - when it's positioned on its stand, and the button is pressed, I think it's supposed to turn so that playful berry characters are shown through "windows". For us, when you press the button, the little balls inside the blender bounce around, and it makes noise, but that's it. If we take the blender off the stand and turn a little knob underneath by hand, we can make these little berry characters appear through "windows". So, I think we got a broken blender, but you know, it never actually mattered at all, the blender is still fun to play with the way it is. Other than that, we did have an appliance door or two get pulled off just once or twice, but they snapped back on just fine, no biggie.

My 9-month-old son has already started poking around the kitchen, and I hope he enjoys it as much as my daughter has. While I try not to get caught up in gender roles, I am still happy that the mostly white-and-purple colors are gender neutral.

After seeing my daughter with this kitchen, two of my friends got the same kitchen for their daughters, and they have not been disappointed!

Since we got this for my daughter for her 2nd birthday over a year ago, she has just LOVED it. She loves the accessories (which we have amazingly not lost), and loved the noises the knobs and buttons make. Notice I used the word "loved" (past-tense). After about 3 months, the front knobs stopped making the sizzling/bubbling noises, but the blender continued to work. I thought perhaps it was the batteries, but didn't get around to changing them for awhile. Once I finally did, I found out it made no difference. I then tried to find a separate battery compartment for the front knobs (there isn't one). Today I went to the manufacturers website and found replacement parts for the plastic accessories and whatnot (good to know) but nothing for the part that broke. I'll be calling on Monday to see what we can do, but based on another customer review here, I'm not all that hopeful. It would have been better if those knobs had never made noise, because now my daughter is constantly begging me to change the batteries (she thinks that will fix it), and I'm a mean mommy because I won't futilely keep putting fresh batteries in there. If it weren't for that, I'd give it 5 stars, but anything that makes me the bad guy through defectiveness loses stars on general principal.

2.0 out of 5 stars not a good choice, December 19, 2009
Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fisher-Price Grow with Me Kitchen (Exclusive) (Toy)
Our kids are pretty gentle with their toys, but this one doesn't stand up to even gentle toddler use. The sink on this kitchen just comes out (it sits loosly in the hole, it doesn't even snap in to place!), so our twins are constantly removing it rather than doing any imaginary play with it. The blender also stopped working correctly the first night we played with it. I was also disappointed that the "shelving" inside the appliances are grated, so things just fall through to the bottom. This was a gift, so I can't complain too much, but had we bought it ourselves, we would have returned it for a better model.

I bought this toy for my son when he was about 16 months, he loves it. I also take care of a 2 year old and a 3 year old. This toy is a hit with all of the kids. It doesn't have as many features as other kitchens but I think it is worth it although it is avalible at Toys r us for about $[...].
