5.0 out of 5 stars Best Pans for the Money!
I started out with Magnalite aluminum pans as a bride too many years ago. 20 years later those pitted relics went to the Goodwill and were replaced with Calphalon anodized aluminum with non-stick interiors. They lasted perhaps 10 years before the non-stick started to flake off. I wanted stainless steel: dishwasher safe, virtually non-destructable, etc. So, the search...

1.0 out of 5 stars very thin construction
Be aware this set has about only half of the bottom thickness of the regular Cuisinart classic pans you bought in retail stores even though it uses the same name. This certainly was not made with the normal standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Pans for the Money!, February 7, 2007
This review is from: Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
So, the search began.

Revereware, like my mother still uses after almost 60 years, is much more flimsy than it used to be. Farberware? Non-stick or not? One could practically buy a house for the price of the high end stainless, though it is certainly built to last as long.

I would occasionally check the houseware stores, Amazon and other websites looking for good, reasonably priced stainless cookware. Imagine my extreme good luck when this cookware came on sale, there was a no shipping deal and $25 off the purchase to boot! I should have bought a lottery ticket that day!

The Cuisinart Chef's Classic set showed up in less than a week. I unpacked all the pans and lids, washed them up and put them in the cupboard. All the other pans went the way of the Magnalite. Although the manufacturer says handwashing is best, they go into the dishwasher and come out bright and shiny. Being a creature of habit, I still use SOS scouring pads to remove stains and to polish the metal a bit. The manufacturer does not recommend this, nor do they recommend the use of metal utensils. The saucepans are starting to show wisk marks, but that shows these pans are used and loved. The lids fit well on the saucepans and I don't have boil-overs like I used to have. Do plan on following the instructions relating low heat start-ups; these pans get hot quickly and hold the heat very well. I still use my old, reliable cast iron frying pans for frying foods, but the frying pans and the saute pan are good items to have in the pantry. All the lids are interchangeable according to size.

I am very pleased. The cookware set is superior to what I have had before and the deal through Amazon was incredible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart's Chef's Classic Series is a Best Value, April 3, 2007
This review is from: Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
We have owned varies types of cookware in the past 20+ years. Some we have had to throw away, some were passed down to the kids. However this is by far the best cookware we have every owned. I never buy anything with first researching the product. I spent hours comparing the various brands of stainless steel cookware based on the various styles of cooking we do. You name the brand and I more then likely looked at it. The Chef's Classic Series is every bit as good as the some of the more expensive brands on the market today. It transfers and holds the heat very well. It cooks at a fraction of the temperature of lesser quality cookwares. The handles are comfortable in your hand. Even filled, they do not feel over whelming heavy but at the same time they have a solid, sturdy feel. They feel balanced! Clean up was always a problem with the other stainless steel cookware we owned but not with these. I'm actually surprised how easily food releases with only minimal oil. I do not think you would be disappointed if you choose this cookware.

I got a great deal on a single pan several months ago, loaned it out and never saw it again. I was heartbroken. Being frugal, I waited for another knock-out deal from Amazon. I got this entire set for $89.99, on sale. I can't say enough about how much I LOVE them. I couldn't have been more excited getting my worn out pots and pans ready for Goodwill.
There are only 2 things keeping them from 5 stars:
1)the sides of the pans are thin (I don't remember my other pan being this thin). Given that I'm going to cook on the bottoms & not the sides I'm not overly concerned.
2)the set comes with two lids of the same size. I would rather they put another pan than give me one more lid to keep up with. Although, I'm sure I'll be glad to have two when I use both pan and skillet at the same time.

Now, the good stuff. No more teflon to worry about coming off in my food. I can use whatever utensil I want without worrying about ruining a nonstick finish. When used properly (not too high heat), they are easy to clean up. I made two batches of scrambled eggs this morning. On the first one, I was using the wrong burner and turned the setting too high resulting in a film of egg left behind. Cleaned out the pan with a very light use of a brillo pad. Not really that difficult to do, but more work than teflon pan. I then had to make more eggs (growing boys!). Second go around, I was more careful and only used low-medium heat and a small amount of oil. There was absolutely no sticking. A simple wipe of the pan with a sponge and hot soapy water and the pan looked as good as new. VERY EASY.

Getting such a large set had me wondering how I would fit them all in my cabinets. But the pans nest into each other very nicely, so they require little space. I love the shiny finish, so I'm keeping the cardboard that came with them to pad between pans and minimize scratches. All I need now is a system for those pesky lids!
I would recommend these pans to anyone who wants a good quality set of pans and knows how to cook. They are a GREAT VALUE.

I have owned a cuisinart stock pot for several years and use it all the time. One can not beat the sear that a stainless pot provides. The new set is just as good. I have been using the stainless more and more and the hard anodized that it replaces less and less. (There is a reason that the cooking show chefs all use stainless). Just remember to use a lower heat than you normally do since these pans seem to heat up faster and hotter.

I have owned a Cuisinart roaster since 1961 and still use it! I wanted to purchase a new set of pans, and after looking at other brands I chose Cuisinart and I'm happy I did. I have found that if you cook only on Med. to low heat the food doesn't stick and cooks evenly. I do use a little oil or pam spray in the frying pans. I wait until the pans are cold before I wash them with hot soapy water in the sink. I don't put my Cuisinart pans in the dishwasher as it puts blue spots on them. If it doesn't bother you to see the blue spots it doesn't hurt them at all to go through the dishwasher, it's just that I want to keep my pans shiny. I have some Cuisinart small appliances which have never given me problems. Cuisinart is a brand I trust!

This is our first stainless cookware purchase after using anodized nonstick aluminum for the last 6 years. We're not professional chefs cooking commercially for tons of people all the time, but the cookware serves us very well for all our family cooking at home. We're not overly concerned about them never having the occasional discoloration, we're more concerned about how they do what they were made for--how they cook. If you're concerned about aesthetics, follow the care instructions enclosed with the packaging, use strictly plastic utensils, and invest in a water softener for your plumbing.
Very pleased with the way they cook the food, definitely reduce the heat though as they recommend. At first we had worries that the handles and lids would get really hot since they didn't have silicone or plastic grips. Proved to be a non-issue; the handles don't really heat up at all due to the Y-shaped attachment to the pan, and the lids get warm but not overly so. Even covering boiling water, you can still remove the lids bare handed.
For the price (about $100 when we got the set), we feel we couldn't have done better. Overall, very pleased thus far with the purchase and looking forward to years of good use.

5.0 out of 5 stars chef wannabe, March 9, 2007

We've been wanting to replace our non-stick pots and pans for a few months now ever since the EPA's new stance on the non-stick chemical. set I spotted this set on Amazon and thought I'd give it a shot. My friend had just bought another brand set and it cost him $175. This set was about $105 (on sale)so it was a great deal. My wife worried that the handles might become hot.....they don't. They do warm up but you can still hold the handles just fine and not burn your hands. The set is very nice, heavy duty..not light gauge. They also look beautiful! We're very pleased with our purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart set, a huge step up, March 14, 2007
This review is from: Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
From my non stick TFAL. I've never had stainless steel before and decided why not, with the great price and online reviews. I am so happy with these!! I provide daycare in my home and cook at least 3 meals a day 5-6 days a week. So I needed something durable, sturdy and cook friendly.
They conduct heat evenly in the pan so there are no "cold spots". My stovetop is ceramic and they work well on 3-4 heat setting (low-med low). This was new for me as I had to crank the heat up prior to cook the food well with other pans.
When cleaning I follow the recommendations : Soak in soapy water, and presto, they clean themselves. I have had a mild cloudy residue from potatoes, but a little rubbing with Mr Clean Magic eraser and it went away. Plus, it gives me great pleasure to dry these and see the magnificent shine the outside of the pans have.
The selection is awesome with this set. A pan for everything. And they transfer from stovetop to oven. I purchased the everyday pan to go along with this set. I am "set" for years !! No more cheap pans, and stinky non stick cookware for me !

Thanks Cuisinart and Amazon for this culinary treat!

This is not my first set of pans. I have had soooo many. I choose these because I want to go from the stove top to the oven...as I call it " without flinching".and these pans fit the bill !

I love them !

Easy to clean...very light to use.....Thats a good thing--because I already own many cast Iron pots and pans. They are my favorite actually--but they are TOO heavy sometimes. So now I have a set of lighter pans.

Many people complained about the handles getting too hot--I haven't found this to be true in my case.....but then...I am not leaving them on the stove all day either.

I basically use wooden implements...or the high temp rubber--I do not use any metal utinsels..in these pots......and I told my husband to stay away !!!!!

I hand wash them soon after use--I made a pot rack for them to hang from...for both the ability to reach them easily--and to keep them from being scratched.

They need lower temps on the stove....so do not burn them.

The price...was to low to not buy....and I am overjoyed that I did....as these pots and pans are exactly what I wanted to add to my collection.
