GERM GUARDIAN
WE TOOK A TRIP TO THE PANAMA CANAL AND HAD TO FLY TO PUERTO RICO FIRST. LONG WAY FROM CALIFORNIA AND IT NEVER FAILS WHEN WE TAKE A LONG TRIP BY PLANE I WIND UP WITH A TERRIBLE COLD.

Ozone alert!!!
I bought this for additional protection during flu season. It sounded like a good product and most of the reviews were positive but after only three (3!!!) days (average about 3-4 hours use each day)the blue light stopped working. Love it!, March 26, 2009

I purchased this little negative ion air purifier because I respond very positively to negative ions, they lift my mood and keep me alert. Plus I have asthma and allergies and thought maybe it would help with that too and it does seem to.
The rechargeable battery holds a charge for quite a long time and the charger doesn't take up a lot of space. The blue light that tells you it's on and working is nice, but can be quite bright in a dark room even when wearing it backwards The blue light makes it very easy to tell when it's turned off or when the charge has run down. As far as the positive effects of the negative ions it is not quite as effective for me as a larger negative ion filter, but it DOES help and you can't wear a tower filter :) The size and weight are great. My only complaint is that the strap is not adjustable for people with larger necks. If you struggle with depression and find you feel better after it rains or snows, try one of these negative ion filters!

Worth the money, August 9, 2008

I bought two of these recently; one for me and one for my wife for a recent trip to Europe. We both wore them on the flight over (from Chicago to Frankfort) and both of us arrived in tip top shape. After a week of traveling about the Continent, mine had somehow been shoved in a bag with the power switch on (and we did not bring the chargers which will work on 220 with an adapter plug - which is not supplied). My wife's unit did work for the trip back (from Zurich to Washington, D.C.). The bottom line is that I had a miserable cold for the week following the trip and my wife came back with no symptoms at all.
So for $30, it appears to be a good investment.

I bought this for additional protection during flu season. More importantly, I developed a headache and a wheezy feeling in my chest and throat after the FIRST day! After the light stopped working I decided to do a little research on ion air purifiers and I am pretty certain this little gadget was the cause of my discomfort. I don't have asthma, but this article from the Mayo Clinic (and other online articles about air "purifiers") helped inform my decision to return this puppy and look for another solution to combat the flu and other unwanted airborne germs. Long story short, if you enjoy sucking ozone into your lungs and the respiratory distress that causes, then this may be the product you were looking for. Otherwise, I recommend DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!

great for travel, July 28, 2009

since I started using personal air purifiers on airplanes, I went from always getting sick at the start of my vacation to now staying healthy the whole time! I even wear it at work at times, when there are lots of colds and the flu are circulating through the office, and I rarely get sick. I love the rechargeable batteries as well.

I actually hung this over the handle of my infant daughters car seat when we traveled on an airplane. She didn't get sick on the numerous trans-america flights we took which is a good thing. I did attempt to reach the manufacturer of this product twice, leaving detailed messages both times to make sure it was safe to use this product around an infant but they never got back to me which I found extremely rude and annoying, thus only 3 stars. I went ahead and hung it up anyway though my husband teased me mercilessly and told me I'd probably spent $30 on a blue light. (it makes no noise, but a blue light turns on) I didn't care, planes are nasty.

It works but the design could be better, October 27, 2009

This product works on generating negative ion. It's super super quiet but when u put it close to ur skin or ear, u'll feel that it's blowing something out softly.
I've written email to germguardian regarding the ozone production, it makes .05 ppm. ( No idea what does ppm mean... something per minute? but they stated that it's allowable and safe at this rate. Also the handbook recommends turning it on for 20 minutes before using it if sensitive to ozone.)
And it produces negative ion at 1,000,000,000 per cc at 5-10 centimeters over 1,000,000,000 per cc at 395,000 per cc at 30 centimeters ( Just copy and paste from their reply, again I have no idea if it's good... haha )
I haven't gotten sick since a long time ago ( a few years perhaps ) Though I hate train rides/crowd dusty places. Hope it works on getting floating dust away from me!
I'll be wearing it everywhere I go since I read negative ion is suppose to be very good for health and improves mood. Although it's a bit weird to have a blue light on me.... but it's not that bad looking, it looks "futuristic" haha

I got sick using this product. I haven't had congestion like this for years. The ions are harmful so close to your mouth. I would so love to return this product, but am told I can't. germ guardian ps-100 personal air purifier is a health hazard.

WHEN I USED THIS PRODUCT, IT GAVE ME A MIGRAINE HEADACHE. OTHER REVIEWERS ALSO MENTIONED GETTING A HEADACHE WHEN THEY USED THIS. I READ THAT IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO OZONE, TURN IT ON FOR 15 MINS BEFORE USING. ALLERGIC TO OZONE? I RESEARCHED IT AND FOUND OUT OZONE can harm lung function and irritate the respiratory system. THAT MEANS PEOPLE WHICH ALLERGIES SHOULD NOT USE THIS. FUNNY, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE AN AIR PURIFIER THAT HELPS ALLERGY SUFFERERS. ANYWAYS, I TURNED THIS THING ON FOR OVER 15 MINS BEFORE USING AND IT STILL GAVE ME A HEADACHE AFTER 5 MINS. I WISH I CAN RETURN THIS AND I WISH I HAD LISTEN TO OTHER BAD REVIEWERS. I BOUGHT 2 OF THESE TOO!

Well this either works or the folks that saw it on me just stayed away because they thought I was from a different planet and receiving messages on the unit. I'll update when the flu season is over.
