4.0 out of 5 stars Stitch Sew Quick Hand Held Sewing Machine
Very useful and handy, but some little problems. Sometimes it misses a stitch, in particular if the thread is too loose. You always need to remember to use it for no more than 10 seconds and then pause for 5, otherwise it gets stuck.

1.0 out of 5 stars BAD CHOICE!!
This product doesn't even deserve one star! I bought this for something simple and easy...what a BIG MISTAKE!! It's more trouble than it is worth! The hems don't hold up, it's a pain to finish a hem so it doesn't unthread on me, it's hard to control any real direction AND did I mention that it just plain SUCKS? I feel like I am all thumbs while trying to use it. It's now...

1.0 out of 5 stars I hate it!, October 7, 2006

Don't bother with this piece of junk. It doesn't work like it's supposed to. It will sew about two stitches, then it gets tangled and the thread bunches up. Not worth a nickel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stitch Sew Quick, Stinks Sew Bad, August 22, 2007

I bought this to fix a hem on a curtain (why take down the curtain, right?). Well, it won't sew through three layers of fabric (and it claims leather and denim?) It broke two needles and kept missing stitches (regardless of the tension). The second needle broke off inside the machine in such a way that I can't get it out.

Also, the machine uses a single thread stitch, which means that the end must be tied off to keep it from unraveling (like a feed sack). Problem is that if the seam ever does break it will then unravel to the end.

It's not just that this product is a little weak or isn't the quality of high priced sewing machines. It simply doesn't work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money & time on this product, December 9, 2007
I am surprised that SINGER put its name on this piece of junk. The machine is built with cheap plastic. The thread does not hook on the bottom of the fabric (rarely). It's really hard to manipulate the machine, and keeping it straight is impossible.
It will not sew nothing but two sheets of paper. More than that it gets jammed. A real piece of junk that does not deserve even 1 star. The reason I gave 1 star is that Amazon does not any smaller option.
I am returning it.

1.0 out of 5 stars It is terrible., November 25, 2008
This review is from: Singer Stitch Sew Handheld Portable Sewing Machine (Kitchen)
I wish I had read the reviews first. I would give this minus stars if it let me. This is the worst piece of junk I have ever spent my money on. I wouldn't even want it for free. If someone gives you one for Christmas, it is because they hate you and want you to suffer. That is how horrible it is.

After struggling with it for over an hour I came to the computer to find some trouble shooting advice. There is nothing available.

The machine plain out does not work. The included instructions are poor. It won't sew a straight line. It won't hold the stitches, when you can actually get one in. And you usually won't even get a stitch in the first place. It just hums along the fabric with the needle going up and down and leaving behind nothing but the pain in your heart and the whisper in your brain telling you, "You actually bought this thing ON PURPOSE!? HA HA HA!"

I have used sewing machines many times and have never seen anything like this. All I wanted to do was fix a simple seam. I worked at it for over an hour. It should have taken 5 minutes. This thing is going straight back to the store tomorrow.

If I didn't want my money back for it so much I'd bury it in the backyard and then tapdance on it's grave. Believe me, that option is tempting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sew Quick? Good Luck!, July 15, 2007

I wish I'd read the reviews before buying this. At least most of the other reviewers were able to get some stitches - I am unable to even stitch. I can't even find a trouble-shooting web site to attempt to fix this. I agree with the other poor reviews - this is a piece of junk!

1.0 out of 5 stars Lower than expectations, December 8, 2007

I bought this with very low expectations, thinking at least it would be faster and better than stiching a quick project by hand.
The first test stich work well, then it wouldn't hold a stich after that at all!
I tried all varieties of the directions, disassembled, re-assembled, anything I could think of just to work on my simple project...no luck.

Other aggrivations that may have been forgivable if it actually worked:
Very low clearence to get your fabric under the pressure plate, if you are using delicate fabric, plan on it snagging.
Fairly ridiculous instructions for ending the seam. I supposed tying the knot manually makes sense with the level of technology, but try not unraveling your work in the process!
Also, would have been useful to have better instructions and troubleshooting tips.

I expected slightly higher quality from such a known brand as Singer...but I guess you get what you pay for...

1.0 out of 5 stars wow, June 9, 2007

I bought this item before reading review because i spent hours trying to figure it out. It's not my problem I can now tell. I'm going to get my money back. I should be reimbursed for gas mileage. I thought that with the name "Singer" it had to be first quality. What a mistake!!!!!!! The only reason it earned a one star is because I couldn't find the zero star.

1.0 out of 5 stars A very flawed machine, September 11, 2009
This review is from: Singer Stitch Sew Handheld Portable Sewing Machine (Kitchen)
The concept is exciting (or at least as exciting as sewing can be): sewing quickly, on the fly with a hand-held machine. The reality is a let down. It's supposed to be held in the right hand and then the fabric gets fed from the right side at the front of the machine to the left side? This configuration is awkward and offers little control. Instead of a lock-stitch like a conventional sewing machine, this machine uses a stitch that must tied off carefully or the whole seam can unravel. It unravels very easily, with no effort at all. You must use it in bursts of 10 seconds or less and then allow it to rest 5 seconds before starting up again. The needle doesn't gain enough height to easily begin feeding fabric through (Watch out; I almost stuck my fingers trying to get it started several times.) The needle is attached to a hinge that is only a couple of inches away. The hinge is so close to the needle that you can not get much fabric on the inner side of the needle. I bought it because it said on the box that it was for crafting and I thought it could fill the gap with some of the more intricate things that a sewing machine is clumsy with, and hand sewing is slow with. I honestly can not think of an application I can use it for now that I see how it works. I'll be returning it tomorrow.
