Received this stereo for Christmas and just set it up yesterday. So far I'm quite pleased with the system. One important note though should you buy this unit. The packaging sucks. wont play mp3 cds
i like the look and the sound but i can't get it to play mp3 cds. Like another reviewer, if you touch anything the main cable falls out. I'd still give it 4 stars if it would play the mp3 cd.

Received this stereo for Christmas and just set it up yesterday. So far I'm quite pleased with the system. One important note though should you buy this unit. The packaging sucks. BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN OPENING THE BOX. If you cut through the tape on the top flaps, as 90% of folks would, you could quite likely slash a gash right down the center of the remote. If TEAC had used an additional thin piece of cardboard on the top of the styrofoam or just placed the remote to one side of the center of the box it wouldn't have been a problem, but they didn't.
One other small thing, with such thin speakers that are easily mounted to a wall they should have designed them with the lower foot area being removable. The speakers are only about an inch thick but they are nearly three inches off the wall when mounted to account of the stand portion beneath the actual speaker.

We've had this about 2 months and use it every day. It's the main stereo in our home.
The iPod dock is a very nice feature, and we just keep our iPod in it all the time now except when we go out since it charges it too. It's also nice to find an iPod stereo that plays AM as well as FM (most just play FM for some reason). The CD door slides open upwards, wich is cool to see. However, if you have a shelf right above it then obviously it can't open (as we do--but we've never used it since all of our CDs are already in iTunes since Playlists are far more flexible and convenient than individual CDs).
My only mild complaint is that the remote buttons are small and not as easy to click as your typial TV remote, and the remote has to be pointed pretty accurately at the stereo to work. Pointing in the general direction and clicking only works half the time.
Sound quality is great to me. Sounds pretty much like your typical stereo.

A great design with many neat features. The sound is above average and the supplied antenna's for AM & FM work well. The wall mount system is okay but the unit does move around a little when you install CD's. It needs a more secure mounting to the wall mount bracket. The main problem is that the dock doesn't work with the newest iPod nano. Even with the supplied adapters it does not fit.

Although the adapter that comes with the new iPod will work - there are several problems with this.
1) You may want the adapter (as I do) when I'm on the road with my own or other recharging docks.
2) The adapter that came with my iPod Nano is White - this system is black. Leaving a white adapter in place looks plain ugly.
3) I hate having to pull the adapter with the iPod every day - it's a piece of plastic and bound have a short life when used in this way. Plus this is a pain - it is not user friendly as such.
4) This is a docking station for Pete's sake, it should not require me to provide an adapter. Although I understand that TEAC did not do a good job coordinating the manufacture of this product with Apple as both products shipped within a few months of each other. I would gladly purchase another if only someone would point me to a source (it's a $0.06 piece of plastic - I'm sure it will cost $10 though to purchase.)
That said, I'm quite happy with the sound quality - the subwoofer absolutely makes the sound.
One last point - the device loses all it's settings (Radio presets and clock) every time power is turned off - therefore you must keep the subwoofer powered 24/7. Given the large amount of programing required (10 station presets, the time & date and other items) - I'd think some form of Flash / or battery backup should have been designed in.
Considering I paid $150 - this is still pretty good value - hence my 4 stars

I just bought this system. The sound is really great, and I love that it plays cds as well as the ipod and radio. The one problem I keep having with mine is that the cables arnt fitting well into the plugs, so that if I slightly adjust the position of a speaker or the main unit I lose power to some part of the system and have to check all connections and push them back into the plugs. I almost took it back to the store because of this, but I hate to do that because the sound is so good and everything else about it is ideal.

I bought TEAC CD-X10i a few weeks back and noticed that the volume control on the remote and the base unit stops functioning after you have played a song on a CD that is more than 4 minutes long. Isn't that weird? Are you wondering that I have lost my mind? I took the unit back and got another one. Same problem. The volume control stops responding only if the song is longer than 4 minutes. After the volume stopped responding during CD playback, I switched to the tuner and there was no audio until I powered the unit off and turned it back on.
Please try adjusting the volume after a single song has played for over 4 minutes and let me know I am not alone.
This unit is going back to the store again.

I was attracted to this unit because of it's sleek, thin looks. Yes the speakers and the main unit are very thin but the sub-woofer that they don't show in the pictures cancels that out. The second reason that I bought this unit was because it is wall mountable but again the sub-woofer takes away from that too. Since the speakers rather than connecting to the main unit connect to the sub-woofer you have to keep it close. And then the sub-woofer must be connected to a power outlet so this isn't very practical for wall mounting. Another reason that it isn't practical for wall mounting is that the dock they provide for the iPod is very short (which by the way has already broken despite very little use) so you can't really use it f the unit is on the wall because you won't have anything to place the dock on (unlike the speakers the dock connects to the main unit). And also this unit isn't very robust; if the cable connecting the sub-woofer to the main unit is even slightly loose cd's will not play and the volume will not change. Really the only thing that pleased me from this unit is the sound quality: it s incredibly good comng from such small speakers.

I've had this system for about a year now, and while it's still holding up well, I've found it to be consistently mediocre. The sound isn't great--to me, it sounds somewhat muffled, and there's no way to equalize the sound. There are no sound controls besides on, off, and volume up or down.
The CD player often has trouble recognizing discs, especially CD-Rs, and often won't play them. Even with "store-bought" normal CDs, the CD often turns and turns and turns before the player will finally read it. I've never had a CD player that had so much trouble reading discs.
I'm already shopping around for a new stereo, which I think is a shame. I was seduced in by the esthetic of the thin speakers, but they're contrasted by the bulky subwoofer that isn't shown in all of the pictures, and which ruins the look.
And as other reviewers have noted, you lose all presets and even the time when you turn off the subwoofer, so I wonder how much I could save on my electricity bill if I could turn it off?
It was a purchase made in haste that I regret. One star is for the flat speakers, which still are kind of cool, and the fact that it charges my iPod while it's docked. The other star, I suppose, is for simple durability--after a year, it's still functioning, but at that price shouldn't it be?

Bought this unit this past weekend - it has it all - cd, iPOD, tuner, powered sub woofer - perfect for my office or any small den/studio at home. Great brilliance in the treble and the subwoofer is not overpowering - just right - - and it looks great on my credenza - sleek, like a Sharper Image product. You will not be disappointed - FAR better than the BOSE Sounddock which we had. Better highs than with the Klipsch IFI - which we have at home, though the Klipsch sub woofer can be VERY impressive. But you cannot beat this unit for twice the price.
