I bought one of these about a year and 1/2 ago b/c it was cheaper then Sharper Images but was doubtful it would work well or for very long b/c it was cheaper.

Ionic air purifier
not what I expected does not remove as much dust as I had anticipated. It does remove odors very well. I have not had it long enough to evaluate the cost. I causes my smoke alarm to sound if I have the fan on.

I placed it in my bedroom when I got home from work and let it work it's magic, SILENT magic...it is really quiet!, while I sat in the living room. About 45 minutes later I decided to go check and make sure everything was going as it should. I turned the corner and the smell of fresh cool air hit me. It was SO nice! The only way I could describe the air is to say is smelled like mountain top air with a water fall near by. That's how fresh and clean it smelled.
Now, I'm thinking, "OK, it smells good, but is it really working?" I push a button and pull out the filter, yes, it's THAT easy, and I can see little fuzzies of cat hair (I have two) and dust (I have a lot) clinging to the filter! WOW! It actually was cleaning the air!
I promptly went out and bought them for every room in my house and I couldn't be happier.
There is one thing it does that some my consider bad but I like it. When the metal, re-usable filter is dirty and can't hold anymore, the unit tends to make a rattling sound when you turn it on. Nothing loud but once you wipe off the filter, and it really is easy to clean, it doesn't make the noise anymore.
I will always have these, or this brand, in my house. I run all four of my every night when I go to bed and I've had them for about a year and 1/2 and and they are still going strong! I love them!!!

I needed something to get rid of the musty smell from a very humid autumn here. Ordered after Christmas, but took about 10-days to get here (coming from west coast to the east, reason for delay?). Anyway, it works well and has pretty much eliminated the mustiness from the furniture in the living room. Have had it for a few weeks now. The only thing is during the warranty period, should it stop working, I have to box it up and pay for shipping, insurance, etc., AND send $20 for shipping back to me. I think that is a little excessive. If it stops working, I'll probably just put the money toward something else. But, so far, so good!

I purchased this item specifically because I have two cats, and even with regular litter box maintenance, I'm pretty conscious of the smell. I hate being one of THOSE people, so something had to be done. After trying a couple other cheaper products, I came across this one, and all I can say is that it works perfectly.
I use it in combination with one of those Glade plug-ins, and I swear it's like the cats were never here. Oh sure, I can't let the litter box go for forever either, but this product has by far taken care of the normal daily smell of the litter box.
Finally, I will just add that this product is far from silent, but it's certainly no louder than you would expect out of a normal house fan.
If you ask me, I give it two thumbs up!
UPDATE:
As others have commented, this product lasted about a year. It's still going, but the blower motor is really loud and annoying now. I've contacted the company regarding purchasing another blower motor, but in the process, I discovered that you can get this same product directly from their website for literally HALF the price you can here! It's $32.99 there, $64.99 here. Granted, you wouldn't have Amazon's stellar customer service, but I have to admit, I feel a bit ripped off after discovering this huge price difference.
Despite it all, it is still a great product. I'll keep everyone updated on any information I get back from them regarding replacing the fan (as opposed to buying a whole new unit).

Wow I have had this now for over 4 months and I just love it.I have it in the bedroom and it has just become white noise for us. It is not overly loud and does a great job with the dust. I use to have a terriable time with the dust in the bedroom now there is none. I reccomed this produc. You may need two if you have a large room to use it in though. I am going to purchase another one for the living room.

The Ionizer works,the UV lamp works properly- We can smell distinctive germicidal odor!
after 3 weeks(as instruction says) I've checked electrostatic plate and wiped it with white napkin &
the outcome is nothing-clean( I expected not much but some dust),checked once again after
10 days NOTHING!simply clean!
But the dust is visibly around the room.
No air purification! Returned this purifier back to the seller,the money returned partially-
I must payed off all shipping cost- $26.00 short.
this purifier does not work for me,frustrated.

I originally placed this in my kitchen/keeping room area and it made it smell so fresh and wonderful. I have moved it to my science lab that has lots of odors and it does nothing. I check the collection plates and nothing is there. I am not giving up on it yet, though! It is very easy to use and operate.

Bought one of these to help with allergies after trying TWO sharper image purifiers that quit in less than a year. This one is not as silent but does the job just as well. It fell over and started to rattle but once we jostled it a little it was OK. The dust it picks up is evident when you clean the unit but bottom line - the sniffling and sneezing (with a bird in the room at that) has virtually stopped.
