Watch out safety hazard
I am so sad to say that my five month old daughter was injured on this product. Her finger was pinched between the elephant and the support bar on the main activity area. We were originally going to get our 8 month old a jumper that you hang from the door. After reading some reviews about injuries and mishaps from jumping into the door frames, we firmly decided against that and researched floor models.
We were between this Jumperoo and another one that has 4 support poles as the base. The square Jumperoo didn't have nearly as many toys for her to discover and it seemed to take up much more space. We decided on this Jumperoo because it took up less room and had more toys for only slightly more money. The investment was worth it for just the first 10 minutes of fun!
When we first put her in, she wasn't quite sure what to make of it and just looked around at the toys grabbing for them. After she realized (in the first 2 minutes) that she could jump, she did with great joy. Her face was all smiles and watching her kick her feet out while jumping had us all rolling on the floor hysterically.
The toys she likes best are the ones that spin and she reaches for the parrot and frog that hang. The tiger that comes up when you push on the button seems pretty useless, as does the color wheel.
The whole thing took us about 10 minutes to put together and another few minutes to wash the toys. Remember not the submerge the electronic one and to put 3 AA batteries in it. The box does not include the batteries and you'll need a screwdriver to remove the battery cover. Also, the large spinning ball has a rainbow sticker along the sides that if you don't dry right away, well, they'll start to wrinkle. The Jumperoo does fold up for easier carrying/stowing but it's not a smooth transition. I don't see us doing it that often however.
As I mentioned, the entertainment that the adults got was well worth the cost initially. And now, our baby girl has a great time bouncing on it while strengthening her legs. She doesn't seem to like jumping without an audience but maybe she will when she gets a little older. Don't wait to get this, you won't regret it!!
**09/02/2009 UPDATE**
Well, 2 kids and 2 1/2 years later, we finally decided to sell our Jumperoo. Would you believe we received tons of inquiries and eventually received nearly 70% of our original purchase price? What terrific resale value!

We have an active baby that really likes to stand, tries to walk when held, and always wants to be on the move -- it can be exhausting. From reviews I read, the Jumperoo seemed like a great toy to provide excercise and fun for the baby (and a short break for Mom & Dad).
The long awaited Rainforest Jumperoo finally came about a week ago! Since we had pre-ordered from Amazon in November anticipating a Christmas gift, we were disappointed that there were delays and it was not expected 'til well after the holidays.
In the meantime, my 3 month old son was anxious to move and had lots of energy, so I bought the Deluxe Jumperoo at a local retailer about 4 weeks ago. He liked it, but seemed to get bored quickly with the toys and would use it just a few minutes each day.
Some of the key differences with the Rainforest Jumperoo:
- The seat rotates 360 degrees and there are toys all around it, so there is always something new to look at -- and he can change his view of the room by himself (he's just starting to turn in it on his own).
- There are animals hanging above his head from the "leaves" and the baby loves to look at them and sometimes jumps to try and reach them.
- The music & sounds are pretty cool...like they would play at a carribean restaurant. The Deluxe music was okay, but the "boinging" noises (although fun at first) got annoying pretty quickly.
- The format is round versus the old A-frame style -- although I feared it would take up even more space, it actually looks less obtrusive and fits in the room better. It's easier to get by and doesn't trip you!
- There are three hanging springs (versus four) which seems to offer more mobility and freedom of movement. Sometimes he just sways around.
- Now nearly 4 months old, our son will spend happy stretches of 20-30+ minutes multiple times a day in the Rainforest version. Less than a week ago, he would spend about 15 minutes a day in the Deluxe version.
- The Rainforest version is attractive and seems well made in comparison to the "Deluxe". It has thoughtful design details -- like the tree frog seat and the silky green tie-dyed fabric under the hanging leaves.
- It appears that when folded it will take less space than the Deluxe -- which is pretty awkward when folded.
- If your decor is more subtle, the Rainforest Jumperoo will probably fit in better than the vibrant blue painted frame of the Deluxe version.
Suggested changes:
- More opions for the height of the seat -- this seems like an easy change the manufacturer could make that would be helpful. My son is pretty tall for his age, but between a "1" and a "2". So his feet are flat on the ground at level 1, and don't quite reach at level 2. This means he stands and sort of walks to get slight bouncing -- versus actually jumping (the toes are supposed to touch but not have feet flat on floor for optimal jumping).
- I would like some sort of storage option (like a vinyl bag it would fit into) to take to another room, store it for company, etc.
Overall, the Rainforest version was a little more expensive than the Deluxe, but in my view, well worth it. The differences are more than cosmetic, and our son really does seem to enjoy it more than than the Deluxe (which is on it's way to Grandma's today).

I bought a Fisher Price jumperoo based on the wonderful reviews and was not disappointed. Because my 4-month old baby loved it so much, I decided to purchase another jumperoo for the g-parents' house. My husband convinced me to buy the Baby Einstein jumper so that our baby would have something different to play with. So far, our baby seems to enjoy jumping in the F-P jumperoo much more than in the B-E jumper.
Below is a list of differences I noticed between the two:
1. The B-E seat is wider than the F-P seat. My baby's body wobbles around a lot in the B-E seat. The F-P seat provides more support and has a extra cushioning behind the head so her head does not wobble when she moves back and forth in the seat.
2. The B-E seat's fabric is cut so that my baby sits on her rear more than in the F-P seat. Because of this, my baby jumps around a lot more in the F-P seat than in the B-E seat.
3. The B-E jumper has more height settings. My baby is able to touch the floor without a cushion or phone book underneath her. She still needs a firm pillow under the F-P jumperoo.
4. The B-E jumper toys seem to be for older babies, who have developed stronger fingers. Some of the toys require quite a bit of coordination to use. The B-E toys that hang above the jumper are actually just plastic rings, which are not very interesting. The F-P toys that hang above the jumper are more colorful and much better quality. My baby studies the F-P toys for long periods of time, but is not interested in the B-E plastic rings.
5. The B-E jumper music toy plays 5 classical music songs, but they are short. The F-P jumperoo's music lasts much longer, even though there are only two different music selections.
Also, the B-E jumper music toy is activated by touching one of the piano keys. The F-P jumperoo music is activated by the baby's jumping. Again, it seems the B-E jumper is for older babies who have better eye-hand coordination. The F-P jumperoo seems to encourage babies to jump more than the B-E jumper.Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Center

Our then 3 month old son was very active and would stand in our arms and JUMP for as long as we'd let him. I started researching the bouncers ~ we needed something to help us out with this active child. I saw the Rainforest Jumperoo online, but I didn't see any reviews and was hesitant to buy it. It's a little more expensive than the other options. I went to BabiesRUS and looked at all the options including the exersaucers and this seemed like the best option - it's a perfect combination of both. It has fun and colorful toys that he loves plus a small space that's designated as a snack tray. Now that we have it home - I can honestly tell you that this is the BEST toy that we have found for him. He will sit in his jumper for quite a while. I often ask him if he wants out, but he just laughs and keeps jumping. I love that he can turn his seat 360 degrees - he can turn towards me wherever in the room that I am. Also, he's a little short for this - his feet just reach the floor, but we put a short stool under him and he now has enough room to push up and bounce. He should be able to use this for several months to come. This was a GREAT investment - the best baby gadget yet and we have them ALL!!

I am so sad to say that my five month old daughter was injured on this product. Her finger was pinched between the elephant and the support bar on the main activity area. I have contacted Fisher Price and they were absolutely wonderful. They are sending a prepaid shipping package to return it to the factory for inspection and are also sending us a credit for the full amount we paid for this item. I am also sad because this is my daughter's absolute hand's down FAVORITE ITEM. If not for this safety hazard I would give this item five stars. Fisher Price was so polite and kind I am sure they will look into this right away to try and solve this safety hazard.

We bought this for our son when he was 3 months old. He is now 5 months old and still loves it just as much as the first day he was in it. I have it in the kitchen and he happily plays in it in the morning while I make breakfast and then again at night while I make dinner. He absolutely loves it. He probably would stay in it all day if I let him. We also have the triple fun exersaucer and he only plays in that for 5 minutes before he wants out of it. Wish I would have purchased the jumperoo first and never even bought the exersaucer.
* A little update (January 2, 2008): My son is now 10 months old and still loves the Jumperoo (Although we are nearing the end of the Jumperoo days, since he would much rather be on the move than restrained in anything now), but he did grow to love the exersaucer as well. Both were excellent purchases and I would recommend both. The Jumperoo does not have a lot of activities on it, but it provides a lot of fun in that it allows the baby to bounce and that's what babies love to do as infants. There are two settings for the music--one that plays continuously and one mode that only plays when the baby bounces. The exersaucer has many more activities on it, but doesn't provide the same bouncing motion as the jumperoo. As I said both were excellent purchases and I have recommended both to friends and family. Hope this helps.

The reason this gets three stars in lieu of five is two fold: 1) we find that the bottom of the jumperoo disassembles on its own and is difficult to resecure and 2) our 7 month old daughter doesn't enjoy this as much as her playpen and her exersaucer. That being said, I think that for other babies this could be a GREAT toy. The colors are good, the quality seems good, and if you think you have a little jumper at home I would give it a try anyway. Big plus: the interactive music making box has a decent sound control as well as the ability to turn it off (always a good thing) As for us, at this age, it is important to have a place to put the baby for periods of time. This keeps her happy for 15-20 minutes while I'm catching up on my work on my desk at home. The exersaucer and our playpen are better places that keep her busier for longer BUT that is the nature of my kid. For your kid this could be a five star product.

This is a pretty good item, but it has some drawbacks. First of all, my twins both loved it...for a while. They started using it at about 7 months and they are 15 months now and still like it for short periods of time. They don't play with the toys on it, but they like to bounce, and swing. Most kids will like it, I think, but it's definitely not portable. Yes, it says it collapses, and it does, but not very far and it's just a pain to move around. The exersaucer moves around much easier.
Why get the jumperoo?
kids fit in it longer than in the exersaucer
I think kids prefer it to the exersaucer
harder to get out of than the exersaucer (my kids could climb out of the saucer at about 13 months).
Why get the saucer?
much lighter and more portable
usually cheaper
most saucers have a few more toys on them
takes up a little less space than the jumperoo
Overall, if you have the space and can leave the jumperoo in one room, then I think it's the best choice for most kids.
