Very Happy With This Stroller!, February 28, 2007
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
I have a 23 month old and a 6 week old and initially thought the Joovy Caboose would be the stroller for us. Thank goodness we had the opportunity to try one out before we bought it! With the Joovy, if you have an infant carrier in the front seat, there is no room at all for the older child to sit on the jump seat. Also, for some strange reason, the jump seat slides back and forth which seems very unsafe. So if you have an infant in a carrier and your older child wants to sit, the older child is out of luck. What's the point of that?
With this stroller, the older child has 3 options - sit in the back seat, sit on the jump seat or stand on the platform. The back seat can be removed fairly easily and stored in the basket underneath and my little girl (who is tall for her age) has plenty of room. She sometimes dangles her feet over the foot rest but this is not an issue. Our infant carrier easily slides into the front seat and is secured with a belt.
This stroller opens and closes easily and is very easy to control as it steers beautifully - it's not nearly as long as I thought it would be but both children have plenty of room. Since it has the footprint of a single stroller, it fits through doors and entranceways with no problem. It is a little heavy when folded but I don't think I would find a stroller with these features that's not. The basket is nearly impossible to get to but I can live with it. Overall, I'm thrilled with this purchase and every single time I use it, someone stops me to ask about it. One woman even said, "That's the most practical double stroller I've ever seen." I have to agree.

Phil & Ted Vibe vs Joovy Caboose vs. Baby Trend Sit N Stand PLUS, January 19, 2009
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
After thousands of hours of research, I FINALLY purchased a double stroller. Though the Phil & Ted Vibe Brand NEW! Phil & Teds Vibe Buggy With Doubles Kit- Redwas in consideration for a little while, the final pair I narrowed it down to were the Joovy Caboose UltraLight Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand On Tandem Stroller, Blackand the Baby Trend Sit N Stand PLUS Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller.
Ultimately, what is good for you is going to depend alot on the age of your kids, how often you plan to use it, and under what conditions. My daughters are 3 months and 2 1/2 years old. Realistically, I didn't think I'd be using this double stroller all that much, but I wanted to have one for the times when I knew I would need it. In my case, the winner ended up being the Baby Trend Sit N Stand Plus. Here's why:
PHIL & TED VIBE:Brand NEW! Phil & Teds Vibe Buggy With Doubles Kit- Red
I was initially attracted to this one because of its compact design and light weight. I also liked the Vibe over the other P&T models because you don't need to take the jumpseat off in order to fold it up (according to the website anyway). But in reality, folding this thing up was kind of a pain. Next-- In the "infant + toddler" mode, I kind of felt like I was putting my infant in the glove compartment. Talk about claustrophobic! Thinking down the line, in the "2 toddlers mode", it seemed that accessing your children in this stroller is not all that easy. The jump seat does not recline, and it is not particularly accessible. I pictured myself trying to squeeze a sleeping toddler into that "underbasket" seat and I figured I was asking for trouble. Lastly, I just couldn't justify the cost (nearly $900 with the doubles kit) given that I didn't think I was going to use it that often. However, it did handle well and was very light. Despite its maneuverability, the cons seemed too great in comparison to the cost (plus it is not compatabile with ANY car seat)
JOOVY CABOOSE ULTRALIGHT:Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand On Tandem Stroller, Black
Certainly a better price than that Vibe! Was surprisingly light and easy to maneuver. It was actually compatible with my Combi car seat (which is rare). My 2 1/2 year old seemed to really like standing on the platform in the store. I actually almost bought this one except for three major things:
1) The folding mechanism is annoying. You need to use two hands. When you have two kids in tow, you often don't have one free hand-- let alone two. Especially if you are someplace like a shopping center parking lot, or a city street, where you need your eyes and ears alert as well as your hands free.
2) It occurred to me that even though my 2 1/2 year old seemed to enjoy riding in the store during the test drive, what would happen after several hours at the zoo? She stills needs a good 90 minute nap everyday, in the middle of the day. I could foresee that this could be a problem because there is no way to carry an infant AND a napping toddler.
As much as I WANTED to like this stroller, I realized that its probably better if your kids are both over the age of 3 vs. having both kids under the age of 3. But I really liked the idea of a Sit N Stand because I knew it wouldn't be long before my oldest wouldn't need to sit in the seat at all, but I probably had a decent amount of time where I would still need the "full seat" capability.
3) The seat/platform area on the Joovy was really small with the infant seat installed. So even if my daughter wanted to sit and take a break, it would hardly be comfortable. (and she's small too, so I can only imagine what it would be like when she got older)
BABY TREND SIT n STAND PLUS Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller
After much research, I discovered the Sit N Stand PLUS. This is a step up from the basic Sit N Stand, in that it can convert from a compact tandem stroller with 2 full seats to a traditional Sit N Stand. Problem Solved!! The back seat even reclines a bit (but not fully) for the toddler to nap. The back seat removes easily, and can be folded up into the storage basket while still allowing room to carry stuff. Even though it officially is not compatible with the Combi car seat, it actually seemed pretty darn secure when I tried it. I can take my infant along, and not worry about the toddler needing to nap. And when the toddler wants to stand and ride, she can do that too. It only takes a minute to take the seat out. Unlike the Joovy, there is plenty of space on the bench seat and in the standing area. The one-hand fold is easy and effortless to use! It includes both a parent tray and child snack tray (with cupholders) and you can access the basket easily from the sides even if your child is in the back seat. It includes full sun canopies for both seats, which are also easily removed when not needed. To top it off, this stroller is about $100 less than the Joovy. This stroller is certainly not perfect... it IS heavier than the Joovy or the Phil & Ted and no, it does not turn quite as easily (though not significantly harder either). However, given the cost difference; the frequency of usage that I think I'll have; and the potential longevity as my daughter grows out of the seat and into the standing only preference... getting this one seemed like a no-brainer compared to the significantly more expensive Phil & Ted and Joovy.

Bought it kicking and screaming (vs. Duoglider)...but really glad I did!, July 11, 2007
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
Like many of you, I read lots of reviews on double strollers. I needed one under $200 that took a Graco Snugride infant carseat. I basically came down to this Deluxe Sit N Stand or the Graco Duoglider - so I ended up buying both, assembling them, and trying all the various seating combinations with my 7 month old and 24 month old. Both strollers were approximately the same size, and easy to steer. I almost kept the Graco Duoglider - I really liked how the stroller stood up straight when folded, and that both children had cupholders...however...the back seat was simply awful for my 2 year old. It is very thin and flimsy and basically one continuous seat that is more like a hammock (in order to allow an infant to fully recline), and he literally slid out rendering it useless. So I was left with the sit n stand sort of by default.
After using this stroller on various outings (zoo, malls, walks, etc.) I love it. Here's why: seats are nicely padded, wide, and very soft and comfy, stroller appears very well made, easy to steer, truly IS a one handed fold, fits in back of small minivan, and hugely, has 3 seating options for the older child. Removing the rear seat isn't hard once you know what to do. Two HUGE negatives however are 1) that back seat others have mentioned always stays reclined. I solved this problem by purchasing a 1 inch diameter dowel rod and placing it behind the rear seat, weaving it through the handles of the sit n stand feature. Works great and keeps the back seat at just the right angle! However I don't think this should be necessary when you're spending $160 (hence only 4 stars). 2) Another thing is, as others have said, my child's feet totally do not stay on the footrest when he's sitting in back and they dangle into the storage basket rendering it pretty much useless. But still I'm somehow not too bothered by this given the potential for storage on the standing platform. Additionally, the stroller doesn't stand up on its own when folded, but this is minor. Even with all of its imperfections and design flaws, I still love this stroller and definitely would recommend it if you are willing to live with having to do the dowel rod modification. (OK I used to be an engineer:) Looking back, I'm thrilled that I ended up keeping the Sit n Stand (vs. Duoglider) and wouldn't change a thing.

This is the only stoller you will ever need., June 28, 2007
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
Why did I ever buy a Graco Duoglider Double Stroller????
I got this stroller today. Previously I had the Graco Double Stroller. When this stroller is set up with the back seat in place it is fairly identical to the Graco Duoglider except it is less expensive AND converts to allow you to continue using it as the kids get older. The only benefit I see so far to the Graco is the bigger basket. I was afraid to buy this stroller without seeing it first but I took a chance because I saw nothing but good reviews. It is great. That back seat snaps on and off in seconds. I just undo the two snaps on each side and let it fall back behind the jump seat. I don't even bother taking it all of the way off.
I put my 3.5 year old in the front seat to see what everyone was saying about it being small. It held him just fine. The only problem I could see is if you had a child with a large stomach. The tray is a little closer to the child's tummy than in other strollers. I put my 3.5 year old in the back seat when it is fully put together. He fits great there too (without the foot rest).
The only negative so far is that as people have said the back seat when in place is always in the recline position. And I think that is the only position it can go in. Also there is no cushion onthe jump seat. I jsut put a folded blanket on it that stays in the basket. Even without it it is not bad.
But over all this is a great stroller. The price was great too. I also did notice that it is the same size (or has the same footprint) as my Graco Duoglider where other strollers that are made like this (like the Joovy) have a smaller footprint. But if you are used to pushing around another double stroller, this feels the same.
Came fully assembled too. All you have to do is click on the wheels. No tools needed.

Our "Going to Alaska" Stroller, May 9, 2007
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
Well, I bought this stroller because we are going on the train and Alaska Marine Highway (a ferry system, not a cruise ship) to Alaska for a few weeks with our 3 1/2 year old and our 1 year old. That may be the first thing to make you wonder about our mental stability and therefore my ability to review a stroller, but we are always game for an adventure! SO, the stroller just arrived and my son (3) is so excited that our "Alaska Stroller" is here. So am I! It's pretty nice. We got it all put together (5-10 minutes - with the assistance of a 3 year old) and took it for a test walk around the block. So far overall we are pleased! The downers I've noticed as of today - It is heavy... but that's just kinda the reality with double strollers. I believe I saw on a spec. sheet somewhere that it weighs 31 or 33 lbs. I'd believe it. It doesn't fold up very compact at all. This one was a bit of a surprise to me. And the front sunvisor kinda has no place to go when you fold it up (it stays in there, it just sticks out). I can live with the weight, the fold-up factor is a bummer though as we are going to be traveling on lots of trains and a few boats. I still think it would fit in the trunk or back of most cars and mothermobiles. The only other downer is that the tab holes on the second/removable seat are not sewn extremely well, but I bet this will be solved on future models and i'm sure babytrend would stand behind them if it truely became a problem. I can live with it. Now onto the good. The second seat is pretty easy to remove and as another review stated can be stored in the basket below the stroller. Which is fantastic for giving kids options! I uninstalled it and put it in the basket in less than one minute (yes, still with the assistance of my 3 year old) and reinstalled it in about 3 minutes. I didn't undo the foot rest part, because you don't have to to put it in the basket. TECHNICALLY I think you could ride a kid in the front, one on the jump seat facing forward and a third on the standing platform. No telling what that would do to the weight limit or something like that, but sometimes that could be a nice option if a friend or relative is over with little ones. It has lots of features, nice wheels, etc. The kids are pretty close together especially when both seats are installed, but that is true with all double strollers. I also have a side by side and its very hard to deal with them being right next to each other if you have one who may be tempted to whomp the other. They could still reach each other here, but its a little better. Plus you have the option of putting the more aggressive one in the front where it will be really hard to reach the other one. I think its a great stroller and I'll write another review after our Alaska trip to let you guys know if I still think it was the best purchase! Good luck!

Happy MOM! LOVE this for my 6 month old and 3 Year old, March 27, 2007
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
Great stroller! So easy to use. It's smooth and lightweight. It fits just fine in the back of my minivan. My 3 year old loves the options to sit or to stand. My 6 month old fits nice and snug in the front. I have no complaints and have showed it to my friends, who also really like it. I compared and researched a number of strollers and am so pleased with this purchase. The parent tray could be larger, but that's my only beef with the stroller. I have back problems and I think that it's easy to manuver and steer and I don't really notice a weight difference between this and my single Peg P. stroller. LOVE IT!

Great Stroller, May 7, 2008
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
I have had this stroller for three months, we got it when my boys were newborn and 2 1/2. I got the Serengetti style which is a lovely light brown and plaid. I have a Graco SafeSeat for my newborn which works great with this stroller. We have taken this stroller all over Florida and back and we have totally fallen in love with it. I read hundreds of reviews for double strollers on many sites, and was so worried that I would buy an expensive double stroller and then my almost three year old would decide he was done with riding in strollers, but I was also afraid if I bought the sit and stand that it's not right for him at the present time. This stoller solves both of those dilemmas. If you have the same concerns you really ought to consider this stroller. Target carries them in stock usually so you can probably see one in person there.
What I love:
** The conversion from standing to sitting is pretty simple, we did it twice without the directions which we had left at home..and yet we still figured it out quickly. The first time took probably about 5 minutes and the second about 3.
** The jumpseat on my stroller is padded which is good. The sitting seats have 5 point harnasses which I like very much.
As far as the second seat staying in somewhat of a recline position, we started putting the car carrier in the back seat, where it sits securely, and then my toddler sits in the front seat so he can look out and have the tray. (and leave his poor little brother ALONE...good grief) This also makes the stroller a little bit easier to maneuver as an added benefit. While this is not the intended design, it works great for us.
** It's not terrible heavy and it fits in my 1995 Ford Escort LX in both directions, both across the trunk from wheel to wheel as well as depth wise from the backseat to the trunk latch. I can easily get it in and out of the trunk by myself, if you can lift your toddler, this stroller isn't a great deal heavier..
**It sets up very easily, and collapses quickly with one hand, although I find it a little annoying that the stroller actually folds flatter than what the safety latch holds closed. So, if you use the safety latch the stoller is not folded as flat as it can go, but that's a minor technicality.
** The parent cupholders are pretty deep which is a nice feature.
What I hope they fix in future models:
** As mentioned it's difficult to get into the bottom storage basket, HOWEVER the basket is very large and does hold a fair amount once you get it in. And if you pull all the snaps off you can get stuff in pretty well. For longer trips out where I am in and out of my newborn's diaper bag all the time, I just hang the diaper bag off the handle bars behind the second seat and that works for me.
** The back seat in continual recline mode is annoying but I am going to try the dowel rod trick of one of the other posters to see if that works. Otherwise my 2 1/2 year old just sits up straight and doesn't really notice it anyway.
** Idle cosmetic wishes: I wish the handle bar adjusted up and down like my single stroller. Wouldn't mind a tray in the second seat.
Overall the minuses are minor compared to the pluses. We adore this stroller and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.

Heavy. A necessary Evil. We had Quality Issues after 4 months of use., August 17, 2009
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
We purchased this stroller in Feb 2009, and began using it after #2 was born, April 2009. I noticed a few quality issues when it arrived, but didn't want to hassle with returning it for what seemed to be cosmetic things. After 4 months of VERY light use (If it gets used once a week I would be surprised, I prefer my single stroller and a baby carrier at this point) I started to discover more issues.
Initially (when I received the stroller and first assembled it) I saw several flaws in the sewing, particularly the buttonholes that are sewn into the rear seat that allow it to button to the frame. I thought this wasn't a real issue, until I realized several months later that those buttonhole are actually weight-bearing, especially when the rear seat is reclined. I have only had the new baby (less than 15 pounds) in the rear seat, and now they have begun to tear and I am not pleased with the quality of the rear seat. I thought it might have just been a "bad day at the factory" and then I noticed that our stroller basket also has an issue, and the mesh has torn away from the strap in the back. This baffles me because I have only used the stroller basket twice, and both times it was to carry a digital camera, so there was not any excess weight. I put our diaper bag hanging over the parent handle, because it's really not easy to get in and out of the basket and I don't want to hassle with it.
I discovered all these things when I was removing the rear seat to use the jump seat feature for the first time. It was then that I realized that our stroller DID NOT COME With a jump seat pad OR jump seat straps, which the directions say should be under the jump seat platform? I have tried contacting Baby Trends customer service number but the system just runs in continuous loops between saying that I am on hold, and that I am being transferred to Customer Service. Twice now I have been told to call back later due to high call volumes. I have now sent them an email via their website and hope to hear back from them.
In general, This stroller is what I deem "a necessary evil." my oldest child was 18 months old when our new baby came along. I needed it. I wanted especially to attach our chicco key fit car seat to the stroller. it would attach, but it wasn't especially secure, and I wasn't thrilled with it. Then I ran into an issue that my older child HATED being in the rear seat, because she couldn't SEE anything. It was a constant scream-fest, until I just decided to forgo the infant seat altogether and put the baby in the rear seat and the toddler in the front. Issue solved. I do have a couple of things about this stroller that I do not like.
The first is that the push handle seems a little low (I am 5'8") because the stroller (especially when loaded with two kids) is really heavy, and I have to get behind it and push pretty heavily, and it seems like I am pushing from a strange angle. My husband agrees with that. The second is that the stroller WILL NOT STAND UP on it's own. My Chicco stoller has a bar across the back of the basket, that allows it to stand up on end when storing. This stroller absolutely will NOT stand on end, even with both wheels locked. It is the most annoying thing about it. I also do not like that the front canopy must be ratcheted back into the rear seat in order for the stroller to fold, and the front seat must be taken out of the recline position in order for it to fold. This is hard on the front canopy (the ratcheting back) and I have had several friends mention that their front canopy eventually breaks due to this. Also, the front seat practically always needs to be reclined, otherwise the child is sitting STRAIGHT upright. So every time I want to fold the stroller, I have to ratchet back the canopy, un-recline the front seat, and fold. Also, the back seat only reclines when you ADJUST A STRAP, which is a pain. This puts the weight on the buttonholes that I mentioned before and causes them to tear through the fabric. I think this is a nice stroller but it could be much better made and If I had to do it over, I would likely look into other stroller options.

Great Stroller, November 23, 2007
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
Our kids are ages 5, 17 mos., & 1 month. We had the regular Sit n' Stand but our middle child isn't quiet ready for that option. This stroller works great for us. If you recline the the back seat you can put a baby carrier back there and the older one can sit in the front (which ours loves). If you put the older one in the back the foot room is a little cramped but doesn't look uncomfortable. The two seats are nice if you have younger ones that still will sleep in a stroller. Underseat storage is a little small and not easily accessible, but we knew that from our other Sit n' Stand. Overall, we have been very happy with this purchase

A Great Stroller, December 19, 2007
This review is from: Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller (Baby Product)
I just recieved this stoller today. Assembly was very easy and no piece was difficult to to put on the stoller. It folds easily and compactly, although the front canopy sticks up; however, that canopy can easily be taken off. Opening and closing the stoller is easy, although I don't think it'll stay closed using the latch. It's very "movable" when closed, it doesn't feel bulky and heavy. I really like the 5 point harnesses instead of just the lap belt restraints.
Now, I'll address some of the concerns I read while researching which stoller to buy. The basket is difficult to reach: Yes, that's true. But you can get to the basket through the side. Not a lot of leg room for the child in back, especially when using the infant attachment: Again true. But, if the child doesn't have enough leg room, use the sit/stand jump seat. The stroller is long: Yes, it is long, especially when using the infant attachment. However, when buying a double stroller, you either go wide or long. I choose long and this stroller, without the infant attachment, is the same length as my old Graco Duo Glider.
To sum it up: When buying a double stroller you give up some of the convience in order to have two kids strapped down and safe, and this stoller is safe. Also, it's versatile. This is a great double stroller, and when compared to other double strollers I've used/tested, it's by far the best.
