5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for tall boy for last 3 years
We've owned the Compass booster car seat for 3+ years now, and it's still looking great despite daily use and abuse. I researched the safest carseats when changing my eldest son from a 5 point harness up to a booster. This Compass had the best safety rating. The seat fabric is easy to remove and wash. It has adjusted easily as my son has grown - he's now 53" tall (4'5")...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not safe: Seat belt lays across bottom of neck
The seat belt lays too close to the neck. A safe booster seat should be set up in a way that the seat belt goes over the shoulder. I tried adjusting the headrest to see if the position of the belt would get better but it didn't.

We've owned the Compass booster car seat for 3+ years now, and it's still looking great despite daily use and abuse. I researched the safest carseats when changing my eldest son from a 5 point harness up to a booster. This Compass had the best safety rating. The seat fabric is easy to remove and wash. It has adjusted easily as my son has grown - he's now 53" tall (4'5") and 65lbs and its still good for him. We've done a a few long car trips (up to 1000 miles) and he's never complained about his seat. From practical point of view, the side cup holders slide back into the seat if you are tight on space, and the arm rests lift up for ease of entry. It folds in half neatly and is easy to transfer from car to car, and it's travelled safely as checked luggage on flights too. I will be buying another one once my 2nd child moves up from his Britax Marathon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought 2 for twins, and love them!, October 17, 2007
We purchased two Compass Folding Seats for our 3.5 year old twin boys and we love them! They are incredibly well-made: sturdy, deep padding, tight stitching, etc. Very, very nice. The adjustable shoulder strap holder is great and keeps the belt exactly where it needs to be in a comfortable and safe position. I was nervous about transitioning from a 5pt harness to a booster/belt combination, but once we installed the seats and put the boys in them, I was instantly relieved. The boys are snug, secure, and comfortable.

GREAT product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Booster, December 5, 2006

I did a lot of research on the best booster out there. I tried to like the Britax but the head wings were not for my daughter, she likes to be able to see outside and I know her safety should be more important but on long car trips there must be a happy child in the car. So we tried out the Compass and we could not be happier. It was rated by Consumer Reports as excellent, the same as the Britax. It has the side impact material. It fits her frame well, she is petite and tall. She is 4 so she is old enough for a booster and understands all the rules that go with it. She is very comfortable in it and she loves the bells and whistles. The cupholders and the arm rests. It is also so easy to fold and take into another car or leave with a friend, no more big bulky chair to drag around. I highly recommend it!

We have three of these, one for each vehicle, and they have served our daughter well. They are lightweight for easy portability, and soft, as booster seats go.

I had a Compass booster for my first son and love it. I decided to go with this booster for my second son as well. It is built VERY well and not flimsy like some of the Graco boosters. They love the cup holders and the arm rests.

It also folds for easy tote.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Seat, but my son can't buckle it himself, June 1, 2009
By C. CONRAD "C. Conrad" (Honolulu, USA) - See all my reviews

Everything about the seat is great, and my 5 year old son loves it. The only problem is that he cannot bring the seatbelt down and buckle himself in. In his previous harness-based seat, he was able to buckle himself in - now he needs his parents to do it for him. On the plus side, he can unbuckle himself now, when he couldn't before.
We are hoping that he can learn to bring the seatbelt down himself, but it takes some strength to do it so it may be a while.
Otherwise, we've been very happy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great booster for 3 1/2 year old twin boys!, April 7, 2008
By multiplesmommy (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
I bought these boosters for my 3 1/2 year old twin boys because we needed the safest, space-saving option that would allow us to move them from our van to our car quickly and let everyone fit in the car or van. In addition to our 3 year old twin boys, we have 2 teenagers and they were getting too big to climb in and out of the back bench seat of our van. We needed a safe option to move the boys to the back bench seat and allow the teenagers to move up to the captains chairs. We also wanted to retain the seat in between the twins in the back, if possible. After researching safety, I was set on either this seat or the parkway but the reviews for this one sold us.

I was very nervous about moving from a 5 point harness to the seatbelt, but once we put the twins in them, I was immediately comforted! As soon as the boys were buckled, the seats felt very stable and didn't wiggle or slide around at all. They felt and looked as stable as their 5pt harness seats! We took a test drive in them, and the seats remained in place and all of my initial worries were put to rest!

In addition to my concerns about safety being put to rest, the ease of use met up to other reviews as well. The seats were VERY easy to install, as well as easy to move from our van to our car in just a matter of seconds. Although we haven't needed the fold-up option, I could see how that would be a huge benefit when you're traveling.

Another concern for us was comfort. Our family likes to take road trips to visit family in other states, and we want all of the kids to be comfortable in order to keep the complaining coming from the back to a bare minimum. With four kids in tow, that is an absolute necessity! We have had these seats for a little over a month now, and we're thrilled with the comfort level. The boys have said to me that the seats are soft and feel good, so I think we'll be able to tackle a few road trips with ease (well, as easy as they can be with toddlers and teenagers)!

All in all, we are very pleased with this purchase and we would buy them again. I'm dropping down to 4 stars instead of 5 because of head-support when the boys fall asleep. The side head supports (which are there for safety reasons and very necessary), don't support the boys heads when they fall asleep.
