I won't waste words reiterating that which so many others have already said regarding the great performance of this controller. We've all played an Xbox, we all know that Microsoft knows how to make computer components.

I've owned the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows device for about a week, and the only thing I am unhappy about is that I waited so long to buy this controller.

Combined with Xpadder, a free program that lets you emulate key presses and mouse movements directly from the controller (google the program), the 360 controller has become a great way to websurf, play games (e.g. Gears of War, Resident Evil 4), and even control media applications such as Cyberlink PowerDVD. If you don't want to bother programming the Xpadder software yourself, you can download predefined profiles for each of your programs and modify them as you see fit. The range of the controller is sufficient for me, but I have a pretty small apartment :-) I do not know how long the batteries will last and I am considering getting some kind of rechargeable setup. I've run this controller on both Windows XP and Windows Vista without any bugs or other problems.

Overall, I rate this product a 4.5/5.0 stars. The only modification I would make to the controller is to disable it's 'auto-off' feature that shuts down the controller automatically after around 10 - 15 minutes of disuse. When you are reading a web page for a long period of time or watching a movie, having to hit the 'on' button on the center of the pad before you can use the controller again is a minor annoyance. However, for most people who will use this controller primarily for gaming, this is not a problem at all and is instead a battery preserving feature, thus the deduction of only 0.5 stars.

I highly recommend this product.

If you have Vista and play games then you need this controller. Works perfect without the need of installing drivers or gamepad/game configuration. Finally an easy care-free gamepad for Windows! Remember not to install the CD that comes with this controller if you have Vista. I've had this controller for over a month now and it works perfectly. Take note that the batteries go fairly quickly.

This is a great heavy controller. Didn't use included software - simply connected it to Vista(32), let it install the software automatically, then turned on the controller and let it install that automatically.

This controller is ridiculously more precise than the Logitech controllers I've tried (with the square area for the joysticks). I'm having SO much more fun playing games, especially racing games.

Rumble feature works for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Universal controller for windows game., August 7, 2007
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows (Video Game)
It simply works. The best part is because its made my Microsoft and highly backed by them thanks to the Xbox360, all the PC games I tried were preconfigured for it to work just like they would if I was playing the xbox360 version.

my only issues with the controller is that it wouldn't update the software properly. It would prompt me to update but then tell me I wasn't connected to the internet and that it couldn't. It eventually updated after about 7 tries. And then there is the issue of turning off the controller. If you hit the guide button it pops up a small menu on the screen which shows battery life and there is a button to open some options with the mouse, but none of the options are to turn off the controller. My solution for turning off the controller has been pulling off the battery or just wait the 10 minutes for it to shut itself off.

Using it on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and works fine.

Downloaded and installed that latest 64 bit software for the controller from Microsoft and then plugged everything in and it worked perfectly.

It fits well in the hand and is not too heavy. Only tried it with Batman Asylum so far and it worked out of the box with all buttons mapped.

I have a USB wireless keyboard and mouse, a wireless USB receiver for my Windows Media Center remote, and now this wireless controller. My wireless router is 1 foot behind the TV. Everything works fine without any interference.

Not as good as a keyboard and mouse for for some games (I am not going to use this on any of my FPS games because its too slow compared to a mouse).

The Xbox 360 Controller for Windows is better than I expected. I'm a owner of an Xbox 360, so I knew what I should expect of an Xbox controller. However, when adding the versatility of a PC software you can really configure your Xbox 360 controller for Windows basically for almost any function. You can use it as a mouse, you can use it to play online games, you can even use the guitar controller if you have one, for games similar to Guitar Hero or Rock Band on the computer, like Frets on Fire. The only thing that I do not like so much about the controller is that it only comes with the AA battery option, so you can't recharge it, but if you have other controllers with the rechargeable battery you can use them instead. Basically you can use any Xbox 360 wireless controller with the wireless adapter that comes with the controller, that is the magical piece. Now you'll say 'hey, why don't I get the wireless adapter alone instead', well that is counterproductive. The differences of prices between the controller & adapter and the adapter alone is so small that isn't worth not having the controller.

I won't waste words reiterating that which so many others have already said regarding the great performance of this controller. We've all played an Xbox, we all know that Microsoft knows how to make computer components.

Here's the rub: you literally cannot use any other wireless devices (bluetooth is fine) at the same time. Even using my Wacom tablet (the tablet itself uses a USB cable connection ... but the pen itself is wirelessly sending info to the tablet) renders the controller confused and utterly unable to find the receiver, even when scant inches from said component.

Seems a bit busch league to me, but on the bright side: i don't often need to use my tablet and the controller at the same time. if it weren't for the fact that rebooting is the only way to reset the coupling, I wouldn't mind at all.

First off, this is one of the best controllers I've owned, works with Xbox360 as well, which is a big plus. Another thing I'd like to add is that after you purchase this, and would like to add another controller to play multiplayer games like FIFA, NBA Live, Street Fighter, etc, you just need to buy another regular Xbox360 controller. You don't need to buy another one of this model with the wireless receiver, regular 360 controllers will be recognized by the single receiver. The receiver can have a maximum of 4 controllers connected.

Other than that, the item I bought was stated as NEW, but the package came opened, the plastic packaging was slit throughout and was taken out before. Should have stated as openbox item, not NEW.

This product comes with an Official XBOX 360 Wireless Controller, Driver DVD, and a 5 foot long USB Receiver.

PROS: Many options with the Xbox 360 controller for controls
WIRELESS! It's every gamers dream to own the best controller on the market

CONS: Why five feet long for the USB receiver? the size of a USB Flash Drive is all I need (or anyone for that matter); My controller doesn't turn off, so I have to uninstall the battery back and clip it back in for the controller to stay off (I already tried push and hold the XBOX button down to turn it off and it didn't work)

A little bit more for your information, this controller does NOT have *OFFICIAL* drivers to work on mac, so you will have to look up third-party developers' MAC drivers for the xbox 360 controller (and they work too, trust me). Overall, I don't see why anyone would need a $100 controller to play their games. PS3 and XBOX 360 use controllers just like these (in terms of size) and deliver a fantastic experience.

You'd be doing yourself injustice to pass this controller up.
