4.0 out of 5 stars A definate winner
I got this tray for my son's daily rides in the car, and it has been terrific! He can eat on it, put his sippy cup into the cup holder, and be totally independent. He can also play on it - cars, crayons, etc., and it holds his books too.

After approximately 9 months of constant use, it cracked. (It is very stiff, of course, but I don't recall anything...

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with a Britax Roundabout, December 7, 2007

I really want to like this product--it's a great idea, useful and decently made, easy to clean, good size...but it just did not fit my daughter's car seat. She's 3 years old in a Britax Roundabout, I've had the Taby Tray for over a year and have tried several different configurations to get it to stay up. But since the car seat does not have armrests, the tray leans forward and down so everything spills off. The one thing I haven't tried is installing a pole from the van floor to the bottom of the tray to keep it from tipping forward. I ended up giving up and instead purchased a "Go Anywhere Table and Footrest" from onestepahead.com. That tray is smaller, but it has a post that adjusts vertically and can tilt so nothing falls off.

The Taby Tray would probably work well for a car seat that has arm rests, like the example pictured, but did not work with the kind of car seat we have.

This is a wonderful idea, but it did not fit our Brittax Blvd. car seat. The tray tilted to far forward and down. I tried to install it many different ways, it just would not work. I had to return it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked with our Britax Marathon, July 23, 2008
This review is from: CNC-KE Taby Tray White (Baby Product)
We followed another reviewer's recommendation and fasted the strap through the back of the carseat instead of underneath. It worked great with our Britax Marathon. Our son was able to play with his cars and other toys. The cup holder didn't work for cups, but it held various toys along our long journey.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fits the bill, June 19, 2008

I purchased this tray 2 years ago for a long road trip with our toddler and just purchased another one for our younger daughter for our trip this summer. I really like that's it hard enough for them to play, color, and eat. The cup holder is deep so drinks aren't as likely to tip. It is relatively easy to take on and off. It is a must to have a lip all the way around the tray to prevent things from falling off and thus complaining from the backseat. It takes up a bit of room in the car b/c you can't fold it, but it's worth the sacrifice I think. It also washes up easily. The only problem I encountered was at the time (2 years ago) it would tip forward a bit b/c the arm rests on the car seat (Evenflo Triumph) sloped. Our daughters' current car seats don't have sloping arms, so I don't think that will be an issue on this trip.

I almost bought the Star Kids snack and play tray b/c it seems safer in a collision but was concerned the soft material wouldn't fit across the car seat handles and fall in on them (the stated measurment was not as wide as the spread of the handles on either of my daughter's car seats), plus having no lip on the back spells big trouble in my opinion. Plus, it would cover the car seat cup holders and has none of it's own. I decided in the end to go with tried and true, and having the same item for each child means no fighting (at least over that one thing) The Taby tray says it's FDA approved and meets car safety standards so that was comfort enough for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with our Brittax, solved our driving needs, February 22, 2008

We've had this tray for about 9 months, and my now-3-year-old asks for it regularly. We have a Brittax Roundabout, and it works just fine ... snug fit with no tipping. I put the under-seat strap way back, towards the back of the seat rather than directly under the middle of the Brittax, which makes the difference for us. I love the simple design of having a clip on each side, so that if I have to remove the tray completely, the strap underneath doesn't have to be removed. Most of my daughter's sippy cups fit in the cup holder. She eats her snacks there, plays with cars (which don't fall off due to the rim), draws & writes at her table. We think it has been a great addition to our daily errands & our 3-hour trips to Grandma & Granddad's house. And at such a low price, we feel we've already gotten our money's worth, as it's still in pretty much like-new condition. We've recommended it to other parents.

4.0 out of 5 stars Survived a 12 hour drive with 5 year old twins!, May 12, 2007
This review is from: CNC-KE Taby Tray White (Baby Product)
Bought one for each kid, and after the first hour they could attach or remove the trays whenever they wanted by themselves. The drink cup holder is to small for most cups, but it held crayons perfectly. The arm rests on the booster seats i have are to low to support the tray, and the ones on the van seats are to far apart, but the kids were fine with the tray just resting on their laps when they wanted to use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, April 29, 2009
This review is from: CNC-KE Taby Tray White (Baby Product)
I got this tray for my 4 year old son for a very long car trip- we were in the car for 24 hours over 4 days, plus sight seeing once we got to our destination. He really enjoyed being able to play with his cars on the tray and it was a great place for me to have a stable surface to fix lunches and snacks at rest stops. The only problem we had was getting the strap tight enough to hold the tray stable. Once we got it, the tray worked great. Our son was using the tray for lunch when we were in an accident that totaled our car, and the tray wasn't a problem.
We used this tray with a Graco Comfort Sport carseat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Taby Tray, May 12, 2007
This review is from: CNC-KE Taby Tray White (Baby Product)
Excellent for "in the car" activities. Light weight, easy to place and remove. My child asks for the tray with every car ride so that he can look at books, color, watch movies with a portable DVD. This product was worth every cent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made life in the car SO much easier. Less complaining & whining., December 5, 2009
By JMB "janejanejane" (Saint Louis, MO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: CNC-KE Taby Tray White (Baby Product)
I can't say enough great things about this tray. It has made our life in the car SOOOOO much easier! Since we got the tray, trips in our car have been much easier with less complaining and whining... except when I forget to clip on the tray -- He wants it on for EVERY trip, whether he needs it or not.

My son mainly uses it to color, read books, do sticker books, play with his cars and eat. It makes eating on the run much easier and much less messy. We frequently bring his breakfast plate/bowl along on his way to school, which I would never do without the tray. We also use the tray to hold his portable DVD player on longer trips.

We have used this with both a Graco and Evenflo car seat and our friends that recommended it to us use it with their Britax. If it doesn't seem to fit, try putting the strap in a different spot. My son is five and has not yet figured out how to undo it himself, which could be good or bad. The tray has raised edges to keep toys and crayons from rolling off, has a long indented pencil holder at the top and a deep hole for a cup on the right. We have had this tray for three years and it still gets used on a daily basis.

The tray does get really dirty, but is easy to clean. My mom is able to fit the tray in her dishwasher, straps and all, but it will not fit in ours, so I keep a package of anti-bacteria wipes in the car to keep it clean.

I can really only say two things negatively about this product. One is that since it is a large tray there really isn't a good place to put it when not in use. I usually try to slip it between my son's car seat and the pull down arm rest, but it often ends up on the floor where it gets stepped on when my son gets in the car. I imagine this would be a bigger deal if I had two kids using two trays. The other thing is that I wonder how safe it would be in an accident. I haven't seen anything in the product description or reviews mentioning it as a safety problem, but I still worry about it.

Overall, this is definitely in my top five things you MUST have if you have kids. Oh, and a another suggestion is to get one of those clip-on book lights to go with it if you plan to travel in the dark.
