Handy, everyday set, November 9, 2008

Very happy with this set. Purchased back in September, and all the edges are still sharp. In fact, be careful when you first use the knives, I cut myself the first time (not used to sharp knives!!) Especially like that the scissors come apart, makes cleaning them so much easier. Highly recommend. I use both knives daily; or at least on the days that I cook!

Great for preparing pretty much anything. The knives are super sharp and make chopping things like onions and stuff a breeze. My wife loves them.

Love the Classics, September 18, 2008

Wustof Classic is the high-end of their line of knives. They are made in Soligen Germany from a single piece of cast steel that is finely finished. The same factory produces F. Dick knives that are virtually identical. I've been using Wustof Classic and F. Dick knives for over 15 years. I hand wash them and sharpen them with a ChefsChoice 2000 (rarely) or a smooth steel. I got these for the Gold Box special price of $[...] and that is an incredible bargain. I also own the Wustof Classic hollow ground steak knives which cost about $[...] each (not here). Is this the only knife I would buy if I had to choose? No, I would buy a Shun Ken Onion 8" chefs knife if I could only have one knife. That said; these are really good knives that last for years if cared for properly.

Great knifes, October 15, 2008

Wusthof knifes are the best knifes made as far as I can tell. Tried others but nothing beats Wusthof. Well balanced and razor sharp. I bought 2 Wusthof Gourmet knifes trying to save some money but wished I would have just bought the Wusthof Classic instead. As far as I can tell it was a waste of money buying the Gourmet knifes.
The Gourmet knifes are made of stamped steel not forged from a single blank of high carbon steel. The Wusthof Classic just holds an edge better and longer. So don't be cheap and breakdown and spend the extra money it will be worth it in the long run.
My wife tells me I'm a knife snob now. I don't care and we now have 12 Wusthof Classic knifes. I told my wife those Wusthof Gourmet knifes have got to go but she tells me no and just calls me a knife snob. One day there going to come up missing. ;)

Carefully check what is sent to you, February 1, 2010

Wusthof Classic is 5 star, but carefully check what is sent to you. I ordered the Wusthof Classic (forged steel) from [...], but received the inferior Wusthof Gourmet (thin stamped metal). I sent it back and Amazon said they'll refund the shipping as well.
Wusthof should not degrade their brand name by creating knives from cheaper sheet metal.

worth every penny, January 19, 2009

You get what you pay for. These are great knives worth every penny. I bought a cheap wood block set at a big mall store. Forget it! Now I'm proceeding to find GOOD stuff to put in the wood block and these were some of my selections. Excellent in every way.

I ordered this item as a gift. It came promptly and I'm very happy with the 3 items. Two knives and a pair of kitchen shears (I own all of these and use them frequently). I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to try out this brand of knives, or to add to their collection.

The knife prep set is extremely useful and easy to use. All of the instruments are sharp and sturdy, fitting either hand comfortably. The sissors come apart easily for cleaning and may be reassembled with ease. The three piece set is very versitile and each piece gets a lot of use.
