Budget Power Wash
This is a great electric pressure washer. I used it to remove old paint from a deck and mildew from my home's siding. It took a while, but I was very pleased with the results. It had just enough power not to splinter the wood, and still do an adequate job of removing the paint. You can purchase other attachments on their website to make it more functional. I'm using...

Don't Buy A Karcher
DO NOT BUY A KARCHER!!!!
I had an electric pressure washer model K3.86 that started pulsing and leaking after less than a dozen uses and approximately 16 months. I called the 800 number on the unit and was transferred to tech support. They told me it sounded like broken seal or something and asked for my zip code to find the nearest service center. I took it in to...

It had just enough power not to splinter the wood, and still do an adequate job of removing the paint. You can purchase other attachments on their website to make it more functional. WOW!, October 5, 2007
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
I recently bought this power washer and all I can say is WOW!
Besides a few small put together items, it pretty much comes packed to use - plug it in, connect a water hose and it's ready to use. Today I power washed the side of our house and the concrete in the front. It even took off some loose paint from the stucco. I was heartily impressed and would recommend this washer to all who need the occasional cleaning. Don't be fooled by the 1750 psi, it's plenty strong enough to remove paint stains from our driveway.
One side note - it comes with a breaker switch connected to the plug-in. Be sure it's not in test mode, it won't work then. You shouuld see a little orange dot showing that it's ready to go.
Happy cleaning!

Don't Buy A Karcher, May 14, 2008
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
DO NOT BUY A KARCHER!!!!
I had an electric pressure washer model K3.86 that started pulsing and leaking after less than a dozen uses and approximately 16 months. I called the 800 number on the unit and was transferred to tech support. They told me it sounded like broken seal or something and asked for my zip code to find the nearest service center. I took it in to their recommended service center and agreed to a $40.00 bench charge to diagnose it, only to find out it had a cracked manifold and wasn't worth the price (over $100.00) to fix it. I then called Karcher just to complain about the quality of their product and was told that I should not have taken it locally because all electric units need to go to Illinois for repair. So not only am I throwing out a $160.00 pressure washer, but I am out $40.00 because Karcher admitted to incorrectly telling me to take it to a local center. And they will not even reimburse me the $40.00. Another local center said that these units are throw-aways made of cheap plastic parts and that you should buy a different brand (such as a Husky). Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy a Karcher. They truly are junk.

Karcher Power Washers A Waste of Money, May 19, 2008
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
I stupidly bought this product and it virtually never worked. They have designed this (and all of their other products) so badly that if you can actually get through a complete job, you deserve an award!! The reset switch goes off constantly and the "temperature sensitivity switch" gaurantees that unless you live the Antartic, it wil not work outside under any conditions. This Karcher product is a complete waste of money!!!! Save yoursdelf a lot of time and frustration and buy anything other than Karcher!!!

Freeze Caution, October 16, 2008
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
Own a slightly older model than this one but it has the same Trigger gun as this model. Unit works well and have had no problems with it. Takes a little while to set up with all the hoses, electrical and loading of detergent but once operating it does the job. I live in climate where it gets below freezing and thought I drained the unit prior to winter so left it in my garage. Big mistake. The trigger gun has a chamber in it that doesn't drain so the water froze and cracked the plastic. Leaked so had to replace it ($40). If you live where it gets below freezing I strongly suggest you bring entire unit inside for winter or at least remove the trigger gun and store that inside.

Karcher is junk, customer service nonexistent, May 8, 2009
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
I bought a Karcher and it failed in the first year. Used the Rapid Replacement Program, and the replacement has now failed, too. Customer service is impossible to reach. I could sink more money into this, or throw it out and go with a defferent brand. Based on the lack of service I have seen so far, and the number of other bad reviews on Karcher products, I prefer the latter. Hard to believe Karcher can stay in business with such a lousy product and incredibly little regard for their customers. Don't buy a Karcher!

Robustness, October 14, 2008
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
I've had a consumer grade Karcher electric pressure washer for a number of years that I purchased from Costco, and the one listed here is no different. It has served me faithfully for many years until yesterday, when I stepped on the input garden hose just in front of its input hose bib - crack!! (*$*&(*$
Its input hose bib was plastic (polycarbonate?) and not strain relieved!!!
I dissasseble the plastic case (deeply recessed torx screws!! - no problem) and discovered that the plastic hose bib is integrated into the cylinder head and was non-replaceable.
Karcher's web site has no useful consumer information re: non-waranty repairs or parts. Only non waranty repairs are for pro-grade gas washers (which have nice brass hose bibs by the way). No parts list available for my model and discontinued.
I ended up encasing the cracked hose bib with epoxy putty. Sealing the margins with RTV silicone, then conpressing the RTV with adhesive conpression tape, so maybe I can finish my deck project before having to buy a new washer.
What I find disheartening is here you have a moderately expensive piece of equipment, ~$200, with moderately expensive components (electric motor, precision machined pistons, check valves, GFI switch, etc.) and it's completely destroyable by a non-replaceable, non-strain relieved, externally exposed, cheap plastic hose bib! They could have put in a brass one, or mechanically supported the plastic one, or even mechanically decoupled the whole thing by a short flexible section of hose!

great home pressure washer, June 2, 2008
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
This is my first pressure washer and I have been impressed with its performance. I have cleaned my pool decks and coping as well as my driveway. I thihnk it takes a longer than a gas powered model but it also does not damage the deck. I am pleased.

DO NOT BUY A KARCHER - JUNK!!!, January 31, 2010
This review is from: Kärcher K 3.91M 1700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
I want to second the opinion of another user. This washer is unmitigated JUNK! Purchased new mine lasted no more a half dozen uses.
First the pressure seal went, next the capacitator died. Those parts were ordered at some expense and replaced.
Then a broken plastic pin related to the pressure shut off when you release the trigger. Karcher doesn't
sell this part. Unit would run full pressure all the time without it. That wouldn't do. Relatively handy with tools I broke down the washer
once again thinking I could finesse something. Nope!
While working on it, the main control knob snapped off. No surprise... That big black ON-OFF knob turns a thin plastic shaft
just made to break with a little too much twist. The design is a disaster. Since many essential parts are plastic and clearly not meant to
be replaced even if they were available you will soon enough be dead in the water with this unit.
A call to Karcher service was useless since all they can suggest is sending it in for a repair costing as much as the unit itself.
Pox on Karcher. Karcher knows darn well they are making junk and should be embarrassed to sell such crap. I'll never again buy one of their products
since I can't believe this unit is somehow just a fluke rather than an intentional scam on the part of this company.
