feature rich, but operates poorly, July 15, 2007
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
I bought this scale over the other 4 products on the shelf because of all the different heath indicators it reported and because the cartoon-like picture on the box suggested it would be very easy to read. Well it turned out that the operation of the scale is far more complex than it needed to be, and the stream of health indicators are cycled thru far too quickly and then the LCD display goes blank (I'm guessing they didn't do any usability testing before releasing the design). To read all the info it measured/calculated, you need to repeat the weighting process (again, too complex) and be quick to catch what you missed the first time thru. If you just need a basic weight tracking capability, you should probably buy some other scale. Otherwise, this does have more features than the others but you need to be prepared for extra complexity and inconvenient operation.

Can't read the LCD..., May 16, 2007
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
We were so excited to get this scale - but once we got it home we realized that it is very hard to see the lcd screen! It's very dim...you have to stand in an exact spot to see what you weigh. We are going to return it...

Difficult to see display, August 23, 2007
I just picked this scale up tonight, It was a good price with lots of options. I had been looking at the Tanita. It works just fine, but is so difficult to see the numbers and there is no way without reweighing to review your information. Much as the others here have said, it is a disappointment....but it does work.

Don't buy this scale, June 29, 2007
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
Please buy another scale as this one is not very easy to read. The idea with the icons on the scale are cool, but go buy a different scale. I am returning the one I bought.

Honestly, I Like This Scale, May 10, 2009
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
I've had this particular scale in my household for about 3 years now. While I did not buy it from Amazon.com, I did purchase it due to the health conscience features it boasted on the packaging. Things like body fat indicator & weight loss tracker were of importance to me as I wanted something that could easily track these features while I was losing weight. Unlike the other reviewers who have claimed the LCD display is hard to read, I actually found it easy to read. The black contrast screen (for me and my family) is pretty easy to read. The numbers on the scale show up "white" on a contrasting black background which is much easier on the eyes and there's no strain in reading it. However, I will say the only difficulty that comes from reading the scale are the color coded health bar indicators associated with things like BMI, Bone Mass, Body Fat and so forth. While it was a novel idea by ConAir (the company that actually made the scale) it can be troublesome to read those health bars due to the fact they are showing up on a black LCD background and the colors aren't really that bright. Really you will need to get off the scale once your weight is listed to get a closer look at where the health bars are positioned according to selected health factors. Operating the scale really isn't that difficult. The instructions are clear and straight forward, I would advise reading through them fully one time and perhaps having them at your side when you set up the scale. Also keep in mind that if you want to set a goal weight that is more than 99.8 pounds from your actual/current weight, it will cause the scale to "ERR" when you use it for tracking. For some reason this scale is unable of reading/calculating a difference between goal weight and your actual weight if the difference is at or over 100 pounds so keep that in mind when you set your goal weight (if you're a bigger person) and you'll be fine. The instructions printed with my scale didn't list this glitch so I had to find out the hard way. Another problem with the scale is that for some reason I cannot not get it to read Bone Mass. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it'll cycle through all the features normally but "ERR" when it gets to the Bone Mass indicator. Maybe it has to do with body weight being too high for it to actually calculate (much like the goal weight indicator) so I'll chalk it up to that for now. Overall this is a great product and it serves its purpose well within my household. With up to 4 users being able to use this scale just about everyone in my household can have their interactions and keep track of their weight loss goals on this scale. For the features this scale boasts, it was well worth the money I paid for it and even 3 years later I still find it to be one of the better scales on the market. If I didn't I would have purchase another one by now. For those on the fence, I say before you take the plunge in buying this product...go to your local retail store and try out this product in the store. Most retail stores have displays where you can try out products before actually making the purchase. I would recommend doing this and if you like what you see (and how it works) then either purchase it at that retail store or (even better) come back to Amazon.com and make your purchase here.

Sometimes you never learn..., April 23, 2009
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
You'd think that after having read the previous product reviews I would not have purchased this scale, but I went ahead and bought one anyway because I thought that these other folks must have gotten a bad batch of these scales. When they say that the display is hard to read they actually mean that the display is VERY HARD to read. I can't believe that an organization as market-saavy as Weight Watchers would allow their brand name to be associated with a product that disappoints as much as this one does. The instructions do not correspond precisely with the manner in which the setup routine actually works, especially with regard to how long you have to wait between certain steps. As an electronics technician, I can tell you that the engineer(s) made a bad decision to design this scale to run on a small CR2032 calculator battery. The scale would probably work much better with a higher voltage battery. I am returning my scale tomorrow.

Terrible Scale, September 2, 2008
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
This product is terrible to read. I even put a flexible lamp a foot above it and I still can't read it. I wish I read the comments ahead of time. I'm also going to figure out how to send it back. It's too expensive not to.

Weighs okay, if only I could read it, April 3, 2008
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
The display on this is terrible. Dark gray font on a light gray background. If the room is very light, if there is any dust on the scale, if I don't have my contacts in, it's completely unreadable. I don't often use the personalized tracking option, because even WITH my contacts in, I have to LEAP off the scale and crouch in order to see the readings, and you have 1-2 seconds to read each one. Bah. All the fancy functions are useless if you can't SEE them.
For the way I've ended up using it, I may as well have bought a cheap analog scale and saved myself some money.

Piece of crap, January 15, 2009
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
This scale is an absolute piece of crap. It's flimsy, the display is almost impossible to read, and the health indicators are flashed through so quickly that one cannot read or interpret them at all. Absolutely ridiculous.

Defective Scale, February 3, 2010
This review is from: Weight Watcher Scale by Conair WW89T Weight Tracking and Body Analysis Scale with Color Bar Display (Health and Beauty)
I was so excited to receive my scale because of all of the "bells and whistles" that it came with. I had read other reviews about the scale being hard to read and after receiving it, I most whole-heartedly agree. However, that wasn't my biggest problem. The most important element of any scale is to register a weight. Every time I stepped on the new scale, I only got a reading of 0.0. After resetting it countless times, I finally called Conair customer service. They couldn't explain the problem and could only suggest to remove the battery for 3 hours and then try again. I did this but got the same results. My scale was defective. In consideration of my experience and the other reviews, I've decided to return the scale and ask for a refund.
