4.0 out of 5 stars I'm glad I bought it
The other reviews were accurate: yes, there is a little static sometimes on the lower volume settings, and yes, the 'adaptor' for the Ipod nano doesn't work at all, but if you have a regular Ipod, this is great.

3.0 out of 5 stars it'll do...for now
Overall, the boombox is ok. Looks nice. Very portable. Like the remote. Haven't used the CD player yet, so can't comment on that. If you have a fine-tuned ear, I suggest you look for another product. I hear a lot of static when I listen to my iPod unless I turn up the volume. I still use it almost daily, but wished I had done a little research to find something better...

I hear a lot of static when I listen to my iPod unless I turn up the volume. I still use it almost daily, but wished I had done a little research to find something better. But given it's low price, it's handy to have to take places and not worry about it getting damaged.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, December 12, 2007
This review is from: iLive IBCD2817 Portable Boombox with CD Player, AM/FM Radio, Remote Control, and iPod Dock (Black) (Electronics)
Sound is not great at very high volume - no storage for extension cord or remote control, however size is convenient and very portable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware! Non existing customer service from ilive., July 11, 2008
This review is from: iLive IBCD2817 Portable Boombox with CD Player, AM/FM Radio, Remote Control, and iPod Dock (Black) (Electronics)
I bought the player basically to listen to the radio. The sound quality for the FM radio sucks, it has lot of static in it. The static stops when you touch the antenna but comes back as soon as you leave it. I did not check out the player as soon as I got it, my warranty period with Amazon had expired. I tried to contact ilive customer service to find out if I could get a replacement but to no avail. I tried calling their customer service no. but they never pick up, left a message four times but never got a call back. Send emails but never got a reply. They have the worst customer service, it looks like the company does not exist and does not care about its customers. I would not recommend this player if you are looking for good sound quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars many features but sound quality is poor, August 27, 2007

I read the reviews b4 i bought it so i should have known better. the sound is very poor - especially on a low volume setting. i bought it for my office so i don't want it to make a lot of noise. the sound feedback can be very annoying. but on the plus side, i like the fact that i can play cd's and it will charge my ipod. best of all - the remote is fully functional. its not ideal but i haven't found anything better. i guess i'll keep it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical and fun, June 26, 2007
This review is from: iLive IBCD2817 Portable Boombox with CD Player, AM/FM Radio, Remote Control, and iPod Dock (Black) (Electronics)
Matches my expectation. It would have been nice if the CD player took MP3 CDs but that's asking for too much from some vendors for that price.

5.0 out of 5 stars ILive Boobox, February 6, 2009
This review is from: iLive IBCD2817 Portable Boombox with CD Player, AM/FM Radio, Remote Control, and iPod Dock (Black) (Electronics)
Bought this Boom Box when I purchased my IPod Classic. My wife and I really enjoy this product. The sound is great and it is very easy to control your IPod with the boom box remote control. It has inserts so that you can use several different types of Ipods with it and they all fit snug. I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a portable sound system that will run on AC as well as battery power. It also has a CD player in the back, so you can use it for just about everything.

Brent

Bought a portable Bose iPod docker, lasted 3 hours on an $85 battery...took it back, bought this iLive..features excellent. Speaker volume a bit 'tinny' if turned up 'high' in the great wide open..Remote works consistently (unlike the portable Bose remote)..a nice "Boombox". Plan to enjoy many hours on beach during the day and at night around the bonfires.

I am not a music geek. I wanted something easy to use. I was looking for something that would allow me to share my music with others or to play the music out loud as I do things around the house without having to constantly wear earbuds. My husband and I also like listening to sermons from our world-wide ministry. These sermons are available via MP3s from our church website and I wanted to be able to listen to those with my DH. The music, the podcasts, and the audio church messages all play well on the iLive boombox. We've used the radio and cd player with good results too. The remote control is just fine. The ipod docking station was the biggest reason I bought this and it is as expected, maybe even a little better than expected.
We are not audiophiles but we don't like tinny or scratchy or cheaply made things. We didn't have to worry about any of that with the iLive portable boombox. If you are looking for something inexpensive, effective, and easy to use, I would recommend this product.

About a year or two ago, I bought one of these players in white for my girlfriend. She likes it a lot and I think it works great. Sounds good, looks nice, very functional IPOD dock with CD player. Very convenient.
A few weeks ago I bought a second one for myself to use at work on my desk. I used it about 2 weeks but it was funky. It was cosmetically the same as my girlfriend's player except it was black and there was a noticable buzzing/crackling when playing my IPOD. It was most obvious at low volumes but I noticed it when I had it up at medium volume as well. I don't know what the deal is but this needs fixed. I briefly tried the radio which, besides mediocre reception, seemed OK. I did not try the CD player.
If you buy one of these, good luck. I hope you get one of the good ones.
