4.0 out of 5 stars Very Fun!
I love this game. My favorite thing about it would have to be growing crops and teending to either cows, chickens, goats, or pigs. In this game you start out as a rookie then work your way up to Farmer...etc. You also go through 4 seasons (Summer, Spring, Winter and Fall) and in each season(except Winter) you can grow different crops according to the season. You also can...

3.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing
This is a great premise for a game since I liked Harvest Moon but poorly executed. The biggest problem with the game is the 7 second load time every time you switch tools or leave your farm or go into a building. The music is annoying but you get a break from it during the 7 second loads which will be many many a game day. It is difficult to want to play for long...

This is a great premise for a game since I liked Harvest Moon but poorly executed. The biggest problem with the game is the 7 second load time every time you switch tools or leave your farm or go into a building. The music is annoying but you get a break from it during the 7 second loads which will be many many a game day. It is difficult to want to play for long periods of time because of these load times and after only 2 hours of play of which half had to be load time, I already had all the John Deere equipment. There are tons of trophys you can work for if you can stand the awful music which is the same 3 bars repeated over and over interrupted by the incessant load time. It isn't worth the full price in my opinion so wait for it to go into the cheap pile at the store probably soon or buy it used or play Harvest Moon instead.

After playing FarmVille on Facebook I wanted to find a farming game I could play on the DS and this one is great! It provides long term appeal with different awards to win, animals to play with, and crops to grow. It isn't difficult to make money to buy new things. One thing I don't like is that you can only buy so many "squares" of cropland and then you have all this extra space. Time goes by very quickly, rather than actual time, so that makes the game move fairly fast. I wouldn't call this an exciting game by any means, but if you have patience with games and like them to last a while, then this is a good choice for you. Similarly to FarmVille, you plow your crops, plant your seeds, and harvest. You also treat for pests and can enter crops to win awards. With the different animals, you feed then daily, clean up after them, and reap whatever product they produce (eggs, milk, wool, etc), as well as win awards with them.

Fun game for those not wanting to do all the running around and being social from Harvest moon series. The only thing is you have to manage your time better.

This game is kind of like Harvest Moon but not nearly as good. It's a great time waster but I grew tired of it after a few months. I would say to buy it used if you can find it. It could used a whole lot of tweaking.

I bought this for my son and the game freezes. I called the manufacturer and they said there is a glitch in the program and to try another. We went through 3 different ones and all of them freeze. Too bad, my son loved the game.

Its a sad day when a tractor company tries to leech the success of an awesome game like Harvest Moon.

It seems more like a promotional piece than a real game...

If you want to play a game where you farm, go for Harvest Moon, or better yet, Rune Factory (both by Natsume).

I bought this game for my grandson to play while in the car on a trip to Florida. He loved the game. However, it started skipping in places after just a couple of weeks. He is so disappointed in it now.
According to the return policy of Amazon on Video games, you can only return it for half the price paid, so it's just not worth it.

This game is both educational and fun. Two of our grandchildren had shared one before a birthday came along and now each one has a copy and both are thrilled. It arrived as promised and since it's a 2007 game, it was not readily available but one again, Amazon comes through.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could've Been a Lot Better!, July 14, 2010
Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: John Deere Harvest in the Heartland (Video Game)
I was addicted to Farmville on Facebook so I quit playing it. It was taking up too much of my time! I wanted to find a farming game I could just relax in bed and play on my DS! This games seems pretty fun so far except for a few things:
1. You can only save 2 games at a time. (2 players at one time only)
2. The wardrobe selection is very limited!
3. You do try to sell your best crops at the end of each season for a reward, but all you get for a reward is a trophy on your trophy page. It would have been nice if each trophy would have unlocked a new animal? new clothes? new farm decorations? etc...
4. The load times are annoying, but it also can be a good thing because you get a second (or 7)to take a sip of water, etc...
5. The clock constantly ticks, even while choosing your tools on the tool page, etc.. and the time goes by so fast! You basically need to have all the best John Deere equipment in order to get your crops done in time to tend to your animals.
6. I played for about 1 hour, and got lots of money, and the game froze. Nothing I did would unfreeze it. So I had to restart the game and lost all that progress. So make sure you save your game like every 10 min. or so.

Like I said in the title, this game could have been made so much better, but I am still having fun with it! I would not recommend this game though!!!
