Good, not quite what I'd hoped for, but I like it
I was getting tired of dripping sweat all over my yoga mat, so I was torn between buying one of these towels, or a cotton yoga blanket. I went with the towel after reading the reviews here. As other reviewers have noted, the non-nubby side of the towel is quite slippery. The cloth is much smoother than a standard terrycloth towel and there's just no texture to "grip"...

I still skid...
I am somewhat disappointed with this product. I expected not to skid at all, and I still slide around a fair bit in yoga class. It does do a great job absorbing sweat in hot yoga classes and it also moves around very little on my mat, even when I jump forward/back. However, I'm still looking for something that will help my hands to stop sliding when I'm in downward...

I still skid..., December 7, 2007
This review is from: Yogitoes Skidless Premium Mat-Size Yoga Towel (Sports)
I am somewhat disappointed with this product. I expected not to skid at all, and I still slide around a fair bit in yoga class. It does do a great job absorbing sweat in hot yoga classes and it also moves around very little on my mat, even when I jump forward/back. However, I'm still looking for something that will help my hands to stop sliding when I'm in downward dog. I had hoped this was that solution, but it's not.

The towel itself sticks to my mat beautifully, but my hands and feet were sliding all over the smooth side of the towel. I took another reviewer's advice and dampened the towel before my next class. That definitely helped. I haven't tried using it with the nubby side up, maybe that makes a difference. Overall, I'm happy with it, but this towel would be greatly improved with more texture on both sides.

this really works, January 19, 2007
Ok I love yoga, but I sweat....a lot :) In general sweat and yoga mats don't go together. It is so hard to hold your down dog when your hands keep sliding all over the mat. This yoga towel is amazing, not only does it keep me in place during my pose but it absorbs the excess moisture from my hands, and feet. Down dog problem resolved. Since I purchased this I have not practiced yoga without it....I am 100% sure that I will never practice yoga without my yoga towel again.

Love this product!, February 12, 2008
LOVE IT:) Finally a product that works like a charm!
No more slipping & sliding and having to replace
my sticky base mat every month. I love how it can be
thrown in the wash to sanitize. Well worth the price.

Love it - great for hot yoga, January 15, 2008
Everyone in my hot yoga class uses this, and I finally broke down and bought it. Wish I had gotten it years ago! Helps SO much during hot yoga when I'm dripping - before I would slip during poses (especially down dog and any lunging-type pose. I highly recommend.

Wonderful, August 24, 2006
I bought this at the same time as a new mat and love it. Even with the best skidless mat I tend to skid once I get sweaty palms. So it solves that problem when I take class. I also teach and like to have two mats in a t shape when leading yoga. This way I can use my mat on its own and cross the gym mat with the towel on top of it. Voila, no mat with someone else's germs on it for me.
If you want to be sanitary but not haul around your own mat, this is a perfect solution.

No more skidding during yoga!, March 11, 2009
Prior to getting this yoga towel, I would slip and slide on my mat during yoga, making holding the positions very difficult. The towel prevents that, plus it absorbs any sweat that may drip off you. Functionally it is a great towel. Aesthetically, it is nice to have the Deity Ganesha present on the towel. However, it is disconcerting because it is considered disrespectful should you happen to step on the image--something I clearly did not consider before making the purchase.
Having to concentrate on my yoga poses and worry about my feet not touching the deity are too stressful! I would recommend avoiding a towel with a picture of a deity on it.

Changed my practice...only wish I bought this BEFORE I spent 50 bucks on a new mat!!!, July 26, 2008
This is a great product if you are a slippery yogi like me! I do mostly hatha, not even hot yoga, and still slip all over especially in downdog and wide-legged standing poses. I bought a Maha mat, in hopes that I would slip less, and, to the tune of $50, I was still slipping. SO, I went ahead and got the Yogitoes towel as a last effort to help my practice which was being ruined sometimes because of my slipping. WOW!! Finally...I stay put! I can now work on bettering the postures that I used to dread because I was spending the whole time in them just trying to stay up. I highly recommend this product BEFORE you buy an expensive mat!
