5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a real video game for my 3 year old
I've been anxious for my 3 year old daughter to play video games as an inside leisure activity when I can't spend direct, continuous time with her. I prefer her actively doing something rather than passively watching a DVD. But the video game options are either poor quality (Leapster) or just too hard for a 3 year old.

3.0 out of 5 stars So, so....
My son just turned 3, and I thought he'd love this game based off of the reviews. Unfortunately this is probably the game he plays the least. If this is your child's 1st DS game, it might be worthwhile, but since my son has older siblings (the oldest is 8), they have more fun, challenging games that are more enjoyable. Super Mario is probably his favorite. The...

I've been anxious for my 3 year old daughter to play video games as an inside leisure activity when I can't spend direct, continuous time with her. I prefer her actively doing something rather than passively watching a DVD. But the video game options are either poor quality (Leapster) or just too hard for a 3 year old.

This game is really the first game she's been able to pick up easily and also enjoy for more than a few plays. It was made for preschoolers. The controls are pretty easy. Tilt left and right to move Diego, press '2' to jump and other actions, and then a series of Wiimote motions to do things like climb a ladder or hose off Diego. It's fairly repetitive which is a feature for a 3 year old.

It requires some adult supervision to get through the menus and whenever a new event takes place. And occasionally she's get stuck in some spots. But for the most part she can play on her own ("Go away daddy. I don't need help."). I hope Take 2 continues to put out games focused on this age range.

4.0 out of 5 stars So much fun!, February 20, 2008

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Update--my 3 1/2 year old, has completed the game after a week of playing no more than 30 minutes a day!!!....it's not very long at all --I'm a little disappointed at the length of the game for 39.99! ...even though I'm sure he'll still enjoy playing it.

Original Review--I have two kids, a very focused 3yo that can play this game forever if I didn't stop him, and a 4 yo that could usually play with everything but for no longer than 5 minutes, and SHE loves this game too!!!! Keeps them both entertained...great for hand, eye coordination. And a great tool to get them to their chores! I wish there were more preschool games like this one. I gave it 5 star for fun and entertainment, and 4 star for the price. I play Wii and I can understand why some games that are very detailed oriented, with many steps may cost, 39.99 and over. But I don't believe that such a repetitive game for preschoolers should cost so much!

I've been waiting for this game to come out so that my 4 year old son can play Wii. He likes the bowling, but that is pretty much all he understood to play using the Wiimote. Until now! This game is great and well thought out! My son can use the Wiimote independently, although sometimes he requires a little "help" as to what action to take(and the programmers even added that little help from an adult using a second Wiimote). But he certainly can play the game "on his own." From an adult perspective, this game is well designed, takes into account all of the subtle elements of the Diego cartoon - even a Wii action to say "Freeze Bobos!" Fabulous game!

We purchased a Nintendo DS system for our barely 4 year old for a 3 1/2 hour flight (not including airport time) this summer. I struggled to find games for his age level and this game was perfect. It keeps him occupied and he truly enjoys playing it!

My daughter loves this game and it's just challenging enough to keep her busy. It's also easy enough that she can play alone and isn't discouraged.

My kids LOVE this game. It is truly the best game out there for little kids. My sons (3 & 5) can participate in the adventures and they love when "Click" or "Rescue pack" come on allowing them to figure out which animal to save or which item they need to get to the next part. Everyday they beg to play, they have passed the game a # of times and still find it just as thrilling.

The option of having a "parent aid" who uses the 2nd controller is fantastic for the smaller children, who don't want to give up their own controller to have you do the task for them. They probably don't even realize you are helping.

The only thing that would be great is if it had different levels of difficulty, which would give the game more longevity, I'm not sure how long it will take for them to master it all and tire of it.

I would love to see more games like this for the WII.

I bought this game for my 4.5 y.o. son, who is beginner in the nintendo games world. So it was his first game. This game is wonderful for the beginners, but could be kinda boring for more "games advanced" kids. So after 5 days with this game he knows everything from A to Z and doesn't look interested in playing more...
So i give 4 stars for this game for great quality images, nice not disturbing sounds, absence of any kind of violence.
As i said before it would be great first game for beginners for 3-4.5 y.olds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game But WAY Too Short., February 13, 2008

We just got this game today - the first day it arrived at our local GameStop. My four-year-old daughter has been looking forward to it for weeks. The game play is excellent. She was able to play it immediately all by herself and do everything that was necessary to complete the game... in two hours. That's right - my four-year-old daughter completed the game in two hours (though not all in one sitting). We expected that this game would provide hours of entertainment for at least several days if not more. The first Dora game - the Purple Planet - took her a couple of days to complete. She'd wake up in the morning begging to play it again. But this one - though an excellent game - was WAY too short. She is currently asking to play it a second time. At any rate, she's happy so we're happy, but just wanted to send out fair warning to the legion of preschool parents out there who will be purchasing this for their tots in the coming weeks, this game is extremely short. It is perfect for a little kid and you may not even have to help at all (this game offers a helping option for parents to play on an additional controller and aid their children when they get stuck - this was not necessary for us), but it will be short lived.

For anyone who owns a Wii system, it is a fabulous game for family fun, as has been well documented elsewhere. The only real area that was lacking was a great game for the real youngsters in the family. The problem has been solved with this game.

As others have said, this is a great game for young children. Our 4 year old daughter and 5 year old son both love this game. They cannot wait to play it again.

The gameplay is very simple, tilt the wii-mote to move, tilt it further to go faster. The primary interaction is done using the "2" button. Diego will chime in and offer instruction at each new section, and the gameplay is both intuitive and forgiving. There is no area your child cannot get through, no way your child can die, thus ending in tears as they hand you the parent the wii-mote.

The initial linear gameplay is a bit short, but there is a competative area where two players can play at the same time against each other, and this will certainly extend the life of this game.

If you have children in this age group, and you are looking for a game for the wii, look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for 1st timers, November 30, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
We got the wii for our 4.5 year old twin boys and this game was great for them. It really taught them the basics of the game--climbing, jumping, finding objects, etc. This game only uses the wii remote, hold it sideways and use the #2 button for some functions--not complicated like some other games we have tried. For my young children it was great that they NEVER died--can't fall off a cliff, no bad people to kill you, etc. I'm not sure if an older child would like this game, the higher levels didn't get harder, it was kind of repetitive, but for a younger child this was great. This game was even kind of educational, following on the TV show where you have to choose the correct animal and rescue item.
