I bought "Oregon Trail" with my kids in mind, but I've found it so entertaining that I play it more on their behalf than they do for themselves! I suppose it's because the kids get so upset when a member of their wagon party gets injured -- or worse. If you take time to listen to the periodic story clips interspersed throughout, you'll get a bit of an idea what wagon trail travel must've been like for early pioneers. My kids, I hope, have a better understanding of the trials and tribulations of early American settlers, and a better appreciation for the relatively easy lives we get to lead today thanks to the efforts of our forebears. Success at this game requires an ability to plan ahead and make sound decisions ... it's challenging, and the journey takes awhile, but it is worthwhile. I don't think it's high-speed enough for the typical Pokemon crowd, though. We haven't tried the Africa Trail yet, but should do so in the near future.
