Hannah Montana Washburn 3/4 size guitar
I've been playing guitar for 30 years, and I'm very impressed with this guitar! The neck is very similar to my San Dimas Charvel (no kidding!) in that it's very slim and low profile. Perfect for little hands. My daughter is 7 and she loves this guitar. I plugged it in to my Marshall Vintage Modern and was amazed at the pro sounds I was able to coax out of it. The pickups...

Poor Packaging
This item shipped quickly and arrived on time. It was very poorly packaged. It came in a huge box, which was barely taped shut. the guitar itself was in a smaller box that has been ripped open and not taped shut again. The smaller box was damaged. The guitar was still OK, despite the lousy shipping. The graphics are different then the picture here. In fact, the bridge...

Hannah Montana Washburn 3/4 size guitar, December 18, 2008
This review is from: Disney by Washburn Hannah Montana 3/4 Scale Electric Guitar (Electronics)
The pickups are wired so that when the switch is in the middle, the pickups are out of phase and it sounds like a wah wah pedal cracked half-way open a-la Michael Schenker. The pickups do not sound like single coils although they appear to be. I replaced the tuning keys with some grovers, but other than that, this thing rocks. I might even buy one for me!

Best value for the price, July 25, 2009
This review is from: Disney by Washburn Hannah Montana 3/4 Scale Electric Guitar (Electronics)
Purchased for $55 including shipping from Sam Ash, an Amazon retailer. I ordered the item on a Saturday morning; the item arrived well packaged the following Wednesday. I bought the guitar for my seven 1/2 year old daughter. It is her first electric guitar.
The guitar was in A- condition when I took it out of the box. Everything was intact and seeming well assembled - however, there is a visible flaw on the neck at the joint on the underside of the fretboard - nothing that will affect playability. Also, the neck itself is unfinished - I knew this before I ordered it - but there was a slight rough patch that could have been sanded better. Two minutes with a piece of 100-grit sandpaper and the problem was solved.
The guitar has a nice tone for what it is. It reminded me somewhat of the tone you might get out of a knock-off Telecaster.
About the only con I can think of is that the guitar is a little on the heavy side - it's difficult for a little girl to handle. The guitar would probably be better served if they could have pared the overall weight down a little. But for what it is, this is probably the best overall value for the money.
I would definitely recommend this product for any little girl starting out for their first guitar - and I give the retailer two-thumbs up for sure.

Probably the best beginner guitar I've ever seen, June 5, 2009
This review is from: Disney by Washburn Hannah Montana 3/4 Scale Electric Guitar (Electronics)
I got this for my 7 year old daughter. I play guitar and own several Rickenbackers, so I know high quality instruments.
This little guitar is great for what it is!
Let me compare where it will differ from a pro guitar: The neck is unfinished wood. For me, that was the most disappointing thing about this instrument, but can be easily fixed. The edges of the frets are not "dressed" (finished smooth) like a more expensive guitar. There is a little buzz somewhere I haven't located yet - it's not fret buzz. I think it is a bridge adjustment issue. But all of these things are minor issues.
I plugged this thing into my pedalboard and amp and it holds its own on sound. It does not sound cheap in any way. And even to a veteran guitar player, this is a very playable guitar.
My main issue with beginner level guitars is they are set up so poorly that even someone who knows what they are doing gets frustrated, so a beginner even more so - plus beginner instruments usually sound like one.
This is a happy exception to the rule. It is very, very playable and sounds just fine.
Buy it with confidence.
It will need a case or gig bag, which will set you back as much or more than the guitar, but it deserves to be protected when not being played. This is NOT a toy guitar by any standard - it is an instrument capable of playing music.

Best Junior Guitar For The Price Anywhere, August 20, 2009
This review is from: Disney by Washburn Hannah Montana 3/4 Scale Electric Guitar (Electronics)
I've been playing well built electric guitars for the last 15 years. When my 8 year old daughter was interested in picking up electric guitar I wanted to get her something that had some quality but at the same time wasn't expensive enough for me to kick myself if she quickly lost interest.
This guitar is built solid and has a surprisingly good tone. The neck is solid, the body has a good weight and the pickups aren't half bad. I'm going to list the only problems I had with the guitar but, regardless of those issues, for the price and overall quality I seriously recommend this guitar to any young aspiring guitarist.
The downsides: It came shipped fairly out of whack in respect to intonation and fret buzz (which isn't uncommon with any guitar being handled by a shipping company). The pick-up selector switch's plastic knob didn't want to stay on.
The upside: It's fully adjustable so the intonation and fret buzz can be fixed rather quickly. It even comes with the proper alum wrenches for the truss rod and bridge. It's fairly simple but if you're wary of adjusting these items you'll want to add in the cost of set up at your local guitar store or person. Regarding the pick-up selector switch knob, with a quick drop of glue that was also repaired painlessly.

Not too bad..., May 16, 2009
This review is from: Disney by Washburn Hannah Montana 3/4 Scale Electric Guitar (Electronics)
I'll say first off I bought this at the discounted price, and that makes it a particularly sweet deal.
The worst thing about this guitar is the fact it says Hannah Montana on it, and for those of you who are curious -- it's not a decal you can just peel off. Luckily for me, I work in product development and have access to both acrylic and laser cutters. So, I replaced the pick guard with one that covers the name of the shrill and annoying Disney Mutant Hell Spawn which is Hannah Montana.
As I had this thing apart briefly, I can assure you that, despite some rumors on the web, the neck is not plastic -- it's wood, probably maple. The body is wood also, but I can't say what type. So -- this is a fairly solid constructed guitar. It's light enough for a kid, but it is not built like a toy.
I can't vouch for the hardware, it seems pretty basic. I had a musician friend tune it for me, and he had some difficulty tuning all the way up the neck. He suggested taking it to a tech at a place like Guitar Center and paying for a thorough tune-up. That would bring my expense pretty much up to full retail, however that may not be such a bad thing.
Some better strings are also recommended.
I plugged this into my amp at home and played around -- it has a pretty good sound, I'm definitely happy with it. Strumming along, I had a vision of the future -- wherein my grown-up niece was onstage at the Grammy's -- thanking her aunt for buying her first guitar and changing her life forever.

Pretty Cool, April 5, 2008
This review is from: Disney by Washburn Hannah Montana 3/4 Scale Electric Guitar (Electronics)
Bought this for my 5 year old daughter and she loves it. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years, know alot about Washburn guitars, they make some really good guitars, this is no exception. But remember this is a beginners guitar, don't expect a $2000 and up guiatr, it is what it is. Had to do a little adjusting(lower the stings)and it was good to go. Looks really good too.

Wonderful!, January 20, 2008

The guitar is beautiful! My daughter just loves it & has taken her first guitar lesson. The only down fall is that it doesn't come with an amp but that is probably the norm. I would buy it again!

We bought this guitar for my six-year old daughter on her birthday this summer. It's a mini version of an adult electric guitar. Its a perfect size for her to handle and she loves it!

Needed Some Work, But Was Well Worth It, March 13, 2010
This review is from: Disney by Washburn Hannah Montana 3/4 Scale Electric Guitar (Electronics)
My guitar had major fret buzz when it arrived. I hired a luthier to level and crown the frets, lower the strings as much as possible, and set up the intonation. Now this guitar shreds as well as my USA Jackson Soloist. Plus, the sound from the pickups is awesome. When plugged into my Ampeg amp, it sounds like a guitar Metallica might play. My children will be able to learn every advanced shredding skill on this guitar-- when I'm not playing it!
