Does what it should, and does it well.
This TomTom unit works well, screen is easy to understand, and using it is simple. I had a Magellan before, would NEVER buy one again. Magellan's customer Service is horrible, TomToms support is much better and their website allows you to upgrade sattelite locations on your unit, so if you turn it on while you're driving, it finds you in less than a minute. MORE EXPENSIVE THAN A NEW ONE...
since this is REFURBISHED it does NOT have a recent map AND in order to buy a map update it costs $70-80. DO THE MATH, this is NOT a bargain and AMAZON KNOWS IT but are NOT listing it in the details/description above

This TomTom unit works well, screen is easy to understand, and using it is simple. I had a Magellan before, would NEVER buy one again. The Magellan takes 5 - 10 minutes in the same situation!
There are less points of interest on the TomTom, but that's not that important to me. Most of the time I have an address or I'm looking for a gas station or hotel, which are usually listed.

Large, clear screen. Audio is clear and loud enough. Basic functionality, it gets the job done. A couple of times it *has* suggested routes which aren't optimal, so I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

I purchased a refurb Tomtom from Amazon, the first unit was defective,it would not turn on although it was charged. Amazon was great and we swapped the unit. The second unit, like the first,did not come with the dvd as listed. Tomtom support told me that everything was available online at Tomtom home.So far,so good, after downloading the updated map, 4 hours via dsl, and backing up the info on my computer, 1 1/2 hours, I stepped outside to try it out. The unit decided that I should only have directions in Guam! At this point I was ready to send this unit back, but I called Tomtom again. The tech was very helpful and after 45 minutes or so he sent me a separate program that I could load to allow me to use the U.S. map that had indeed been downloaded the first time. I then went into my Tomtom and my backup file and erased the directions for Guam. I won't be going to Guam anytime soon. I've been testing the unit out, and it seems to be working well. The rebate co. has sent a confirmation of processing. This was a very frustrating process except for Amazons part. The return dept. was fantastic, I can't say enough great things about them. I do think that Tomtom should have offered to send the dvd.

We purchased the XL refurbished as an addition to the TomTom One that we already had. The XL is so much nicer due to the larger screen. It's easier type in the desired location and over all it is just great. I would highly recommend one of this if you are wanting to but an affordable, dependable GPS.

I wanted to get one of the known GPS units to play it safe. I owned a Mio, but it had some oddities. Well, TomTom has its own. It is better is some ways, not as good in others. It is not as intuitive as I expected. It's ability to navigate around a problem (traffic, road, next xx miles, etc)is very good. The manual is terrible and refers to menu items that I can not find in the menu (there are ways to increase and decrease the number of selections in the menu, but I have the full menu available). Also, once you get really far into the menu tree, there is not a quick, easy way to jump back to the map. Sometimes you have to hit the 'back' button several times to get back. Good screen and good price.

This product is a joke. It works fine if you need to find a landmark, but type in a regular home or business address, good luck. This GPS unit has old mapping. I called TomTom today and they told me I had to "purchase" an updated map from their website. HUH? I thought I just purchased one in the gps unit. O.K. I said, unhappily. Then Mr. TomTom rep told me a new map would cost $70.00. He also stated that because this was a refurbished model, that the free updating was not allowable. I told him I would go spend my money at Garmin. So, I ask you purchasers, when was the last time you actually bought something that you felt like you got your money's worth!? It's been a while. Amazon usually is pretty solid though. Nothing against them. TomTom is a joke though. GO GARMIN. I guess.

Excellent gps, map load very fast, that what I need. I had a Nuvi 200w before, it tooks forever to search for sattelite. TomTom load just a second. The only draw back is the screen, it not as sharp as the Gramin Nuvi

I bought this after wanting to install a factory used Navigation on my 97 Bmw 5-seires. However when noticing this online i was swayed to take a look. At the price of 125 shipped through Amazon prime i was sold.
It offers three views of the road including...
-Overhead with North at top
-Overhead with diriction at top
-3D mode with direction at front of image. (My Favorite)
The only thing that the unit is not the best at is re-calculating rural routes instead of Highway routes and i did get lost on my road trip back from maryland to austin briefly in Knocksville TN but it sorted it out shortly.
I love this unit and will shurley purchase more for christmas presents if they continue to offer this outstanding pricing.
