5.0 out of 5 stars Great baby cereal
This was the first solid food I fed my then 4-month old baby and from the first time, he loved it. I initially mixed it with breast milk (1 tsp cereal and 4 tsp of breast milk for the first feeding, then less liquid to make it less messy to feed) but now, I mix it with some hot water or other food (vegetable or fruit purees). Whenever I introduce a new vegetable that I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced, incorrect portions
I found this product at my local Whole Foods for significantly less, which is shocking considering Whole Foods isn't exactly known for low prices - and I purchased in bulk on Amazon so the per unit price definitely should have been better. Also, infant cereal is supposed to be 1/4 cup of dry cereal to 2 oz. of liquid, which is what it says on this container, but the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great baby cereal, July 18, 2008

This was the first solid food I fed my then 4-month old baby and from the first time, he loved it. I initially mixed it with breast milk (1 tsp cereal and 4 tsp of breast milk for the first feeding, then less liquid to make it less messy to feed) but now, I mix it with some hot water or other food (vegetable or fruit purees). Whenever I introduce a new vegetable that I suspect my son might not like right away, I mix 1 tbsp or more of rice cereal and it usually works like a charm. Zucchini puree by itself = spit up. Zucchini puree mixed in with HappyBellies rice cereal = happy baby.
Granted that I haven't tried other brands, except for the Gerber Barley cereal, the line of HappyBellies cereals has been fantastic for us. My son loves it and he's never had any stomach problems since he's on it.
The empty containers can be recycled, or used as toys for your baby. I usually but a few (unbreakable) items inside. My son loves shaking it and playing drums on it.

I also love the convenience of Amazon shopping, especially since this brand can be sometime hard to find in stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gluten free, January 29, 2008

I love that these products are gluten free. My first child got a terrible rash on her face from her "first cereals" and it was hard to find out what was causing it. The baby cereals that are out there "may contain traces of wheat" while they are supposed to be the best first food. Not true fir those with gluten and wheat sensitivities and/or allergies. Way to go Happy Baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy Mommy!, October 8, 2008
This review is from: HAPPYBELLIES Oganic Baby Cereals, DHA + Probiotic, Organic Brown Rice Cereal, 7-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I am so happy to feed my baby organic food. I used to mix a probiotic into the food but with this product, it's already in there so it is much more convenient. My baby likes this especially when I mix it with a veggie or fruit puree. As an added benefit, this rice cereal doesn't 'bind' up my baby the way Earth's Best does, so the form of iron in this cereal must be better for him. I used to think it was the rice that was binding him, but as soon as we changed to this brand, he was all better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well named!!!, February 15, 2009

I decided to try this cereal for my 5 month old, who really enjoys eating solid food but was often not happy afterwards on another brand of brown rice cereal. Since starting on this cereal, he has no more gas or constipation, and seems to have not any tummy discomfort at all. More amazing, his poop (sorry for TMI, but I figure we're all moms here, and interested in exactly this topic!!) is like newborn breastmilk poop, even with 2 feedings of fruit and cereal a day! I think the probiotics make a huge difference in helping him digest things properly. This cereal is a little bit expensive but totally worth it, and will be part of my son's diet as long as possible.

I found this product at my local Whole Foods for significantly less, which is shocking considering Whole Foods isn't exactly known for low prices - and I purchased in bulk on Amazon so the per unit price definitely should have been better. Also, infant cereal is supposed to be 1/4 cup of dry cereal to 2 oz. of liquid, which is what it says on this container, but the cereal is way too thick when you make it like that. The instructions say that 1/4 cup is 14 grams of cereal, which is not true; I weighed it myself and came up with about double that in grams. So I have no idea whether the nutrition facts apply to the 14g or the 1/4 cup. My daughter seems to like the cereal, though she definitely prefers the multigrain and oatmeal from this brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars the babies love it, September 8, 2008

I tried another brand of organic brown rice and the babies didn't like it much and became constipated. Then I tried this brand of oatmeal and they loved it. Next I tried this brand of rice and found they love it too, and this one agrees with them. I mix it with water and they gobble it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the extra money!, September 7, 2008

My son has a medical condition that affects his GI tract. He digests slowly and was fussy. He's a year old and we mixed this cereal with his formula and it was like magic. He's not gassy, eats his entire bottle in 5-10 minutes, has regular BMs and is much more happy. I've never been into organic stuff before but a friend recommended this and I would never use anything else. I really believe the probiotics have had a positive result on my son. He really has a Happy Belly now! We tried everything else out there and this stuff is fantastic. It's worth the extra money!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cereal, July 4, 2009

This cereal is great. It is very light and fluffy in the container and mixes to a nice smooth consistency. My daughter enjoys this much more than other brands she has tried. She opens her mouth and grabs the spoon to help. She has not had any problems with constipation. Would have been five stars, but the container is only 2/3 full. Either provide more cereal in each container or put the cereal into smaller containers. I want healthy products that are earth friendly, as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars I wish I had found this sooner!, January 14, 2009

This review is from: HAPPYBELLIES Oganic Baby Cereals, DHA + Probiotic, Organic Brown Rice Cereal, 7-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I recently started my 18-month old son on this cereal and both he and I are very happy with it - I wish I had found it sooner! It is gluten free and provides 60% of his required iron (as well as a lot of other things he needs to grow well). He likes the taste and it mixes easily.

My only complaint has less to do with the product itself than the packaging; the cans are only 3/4 full, which is a blatant and shameful waste on the part of the manufacturer.

My daughter has a tendency to be a picky eater. I am not sure where this came from b/c other kids are not. But this product, she doesn't seem to 'reverse eat' as we like to call it. But the product itself is very pricey for the amount that you get (7oz vs 16 ozreg for same price). But,all in all, the ingredients are good for my little one. We take probiotics, DHA, and eat brown rice, so why would we feed her differently?
