5.0 out of 5 stars Is it worth the money? I think so
Harvest Moon DS: Cute -

Before I get started, just incase anyone that reads this has NOT picked up a Harvest Moon game before... Harvest Moon is a farming simulator with a neo love system embedded into it. Throughout your play, you'll grow crops, raise animals, (in this version) date guys, and move on to have a happy family.
In this game, the Goddess...

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm a big Harvest Moon fan, but...really?
Ok, so here's the thing. I own the Game Boy More Friends of Mineral Town and A Wonderful life for PS2 from Harvest Moon. Then I bought this. I wanted to love it, just because I love Harvest Moon so much. But honestly; I thought this was such a disappointment!

The graphics are similar to MFoMT, and I actually like the music a lot. I found the opening cut...

In this game, the Goddess has been punished by the Harvest God for being too lax with her duties. You, as a rookie farmer, have to unseal the cast away sprites and return the Harvest Goddess to her place, all while finally proving yourself worthy to the Harvest God.
Though I've given a brief description, the game play is more diverse and satisfying than what I'm cluing in to. My advice to anyone who has not played a Harvest Moon game and is curious is to just pick it up and see for yourself whether or not it's for you.
Moving on from the introduction...
This is very much like the original Harvest Moon DS released with the male main character, except now you play as one of two girls. There are some added items and the dialogue has changed, but the aspect of the game is still the same, just flipped around.
I was worried while it was being made, weren't we all? When the boy's version was released, it contained so many bugs it was frustrating. Don't get me wrong, this game is not without flaw. It has a few spelling errors here and there, though not enough to bother me or the game play.
As far as the changes go, since you play a girl, the marriage candidates have been switched towards the male spectrum, with more than enough possible bachelors to satiate anyone who has waited for this. Natsume has also (finally) added in a new guy, I might be a bit biased but I'm happy with the add. :)
Continuing on the subject of changes, they've added a wallpaper and flooring system, as well as a clothing change system and a few new events.
All in all, if you're a girl, or just a big fan of the Harvest Moon series, this is most likely a must have for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, April 10, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
This game is awesome. I think it's better then Animal Crossing. There's so much to do in this game. You can play three different card games, fish, mine, dig for stuff, play with animals, grow crops, cook (not like cooking mama style) buy cloth, make friends, get married and a lot more. The grapics are good and so is the audio. In this version your playing as a girl rather then a boy. I think it's a bit more challenging that the previous games especially when it comes to earning the affection and friendship levels. It's a game worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have Harvest Moon!, June 12, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
If you're a fan of the Harvest Moon series or are just looking into the franchise, I definitely recommend this one. This is the first Harvest Moon I actually tried myself and it officially won me over as a harvest moon fan.

True, it is the female version of Harvest Moon DS but there are many added portions, such as changing clothes to gain more love and friendship points, being able to change your wallpaper, and best of all, none of those really bad glitches from the boy version! Not only that, but there is a new bachelor as well and he alone makes this game worth playing. The mysterious phantom thief is sure to steal your heart! Plus you can connect to FoMT or MFoMT to add the bachelors from Mineral Town to your choices.

Anyway, it's very fun. I haven't finished it yet (I mean, really it's long. It will keep you busy). But stick with it and don't whine about how long and repetitive it is because if you hate sim games so much you probably shouldn't buy this. With fun holidays and things to unlock, the longer you play the better it gets!

Go buy it! Do it! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool game... But what's with the guys?!, July 24, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
I've been a huge fan of the female Harvest Moon games for about a year now, so I jumped at the opportunity to get one for my sparkley-new DS. I must say, it was just as good as all the other games I got, which is good, but I've only had a few dislikes about it.

1.) The guys are... well... ugly (except the 'bonus' bachelor, Skye, who is amazing ^.^). Not the loveable ones in MFOMT, though if you have that game, you can put it in the DS and they will visit.

2.) You have to save 60 harvest sprites before you can get married. This is pretty hard, if you don't have a walkthrough of some sort. But it's worth it, cause you can have a baby, unlike Harvest Moon: Boy & Girl.

3.) In Harvest Moon: Boy and Girl, there was no penalty if you threw weeds and such on the ground, so I was in the habit of picking up weeds and throwing them. A while into the game, I started to find that nobody's heart level was going up, so I bought the love braclet so I could view the Love Points. As it turns out, people like you less if you throw things on the ground. So don't. ever. litter.

4.) There's only two saving slots, which is a little annoying.

Other than that, it's a lot of fun to play, and I've had no technical issuses or anything, so I'd definately still recommend getting it.

5.0 out of 5 stars SO CUTE, August 20, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
Harvest Moon Ds Cute is sooo much better than Harvest Moon Ds. This one doesn't have any glitches like the other one does. Plus you get to play as a girl! You can play as the girl from mineral town or the girl from another wonderful life. Get a free cat and dog too! The cat is simply adorable! To get a horse you must ship 1,000 things. Then the horse will be brought to you, as an adult. That means that you can ride it right away too! How fun! You can actually ride it out of town too! Also there is a new batchor, Sky. He is really cute, he reminds me of Sesshormu, kinda. He has silver hair and (unlike Sesshormuru) he is a big flirt. The only thing is that he is a theif. But he doesn't kill or hurt people. He has this beam called "Chick Beam" that can freeze girls! Most girls marry Sky. Aww. I think that he stops stealing after you marry him.

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm a big Harvest Moon fan, but...really?, March 12, 2009
Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
Ok, so here's the thing. I own the Game Boy More Friends of Mineral Town and A Wonderful life for PS2 from Harvest Moon. Then I bought this. I wanted to love it, just because I love Harvest Moon so much. But honestly; I thought this was such a disappointment!

The graphics are similar to MFoMT, and I actually like the music a lot. I found the opening cut scenes funny, and the art work is cute...But I got bored fast! So sure, you buy your first crops, you talk to everyone, build a barn and get animals. Then when all that was done, I had to stop playing. It was just so dull.

One more thing. I don't know if it's just me, everything seems so much harder to do! You don't even start out with a lumber shed, a barn, or a silo! You have to build pretty much ev-ry-thing. All the raw materials don't make much money at all. At least in MFoMT and A Wonderful Life, you could count on that if you're hurting.

Courting? You'd better have a lot of patience. Mining? Be ready to fight off dark animals. (By the way: what the heck is with that?) Did you accidentally drop something? No worries; except for the fact that everyone's liking for you, and I mean everyone, suddenly decreases. It doesn't matter if it's your own property. Even if you drop a WEED on your farm, the villagers get upset.

That's enough bashing from me. Normally, I'm really easy on things. I don't normally get this upset with anything at all. But this game didn't do it for me. I'm sure if you've never played the Harvest Moon games before, you may enjoy this. (I have a friend who did. But now he's just as bored as I am.) If you're a long time fan, I wouldn't purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars best 30 bucks youll ever spend, July 12, 2008
A Kid's Review
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
where do i start? if you have never played harvest moon: you raise crops, animals and date guys! sounds stupid right? whether or not you'll like this game depends on what kind of person you are. for example: my sister bought this game, she didnt really make a prosperous farm she just played untill she could get married, had a child and then sold the game to me....that is because she is not a true harvest mooner. well in this version you can have cows, sheep, chickens and ducks, and enter festivals! festivals are one of my favorite aspects of this game. dating is probly this most fun thing about this game. there are 6 regular batchelors, and if you put in your mineral town game, you get 4 more plus the thief, which makes eleven. yes i am the same person who wrote the more friends of mineral town review saying how cute rick is and hes still a great husband. having a child is fun but WARNING you must carefully plan the day of your wedding(which acurrs 7 days after proposing) because if you marry on a odd day, youll get a girl, even day you get a boy, which can be difficult when courting mineral town boys. that about sums up this game. EXEPT FOR THE 4:44 AM DOGHOUSE FIGHTING!!!!
when you press A on the useless doghouse at 4:44 am youll battle girls in the mine....it very disturbing, esspecially when karen uses my sweetheart rick to protect herself...youll have to see it to belive me. read freyashawks guide on blogspot....youll see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Harvest Moon DS Cute, May 22, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
It is a game that is fun to do, making your farm work, meeting the people and making friends. Finding the elves, some of which are hidden in your pets and watering can. Overall, just something to take your mind off of your day.

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

I have never before played Harvest Moon, so I cannot compare it to any of the others.
A friend recommended I try Harvest Moon, so I picked this one because a) it's on DS and b) the main character is a girl.

It is very fun and addicting! I am not even sure what makes it so addicting. I love raising the animals on my farm, and I definitely like flirting with the boys! I'm not sure yet if it has a storyline.. but it does have random events and scenes that are triggered depending on your relationship with certain individuals in the game.

I'd recommend this to older "kids" and little kids too.

I give it an 8/10 because it's a good game, but there's always something better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but a good one, April 10, 2008
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Harvest Moon DS Cute (Video Game)
This is pretty much a girl version of the male version of Harvest Moon DS without the glitches and more story segments. It also has an additional character that more than makes up for the usual play. A thief attempts to steal your heart and he provides a playful quality to the game that has not been introduces with pervious characters. If you're a longtime harvest moon fan, then he is more that worth the money to meet.

The controls are not the best they could be, but you get used to them eventually. Unless you have hours of time every day to spend playing, a player will not discover every secret or get every bonus tool but beating the game and have a good time are manageable.
