Customer Video Review
Length:: 5:51 Mins
In this video review, Heath Buckmaster shows the TARDIS toy and demonstrates all of the sounds it can make from dematerializing/rematerializing to vortex spinning, emergency turbulence, and more.
The quality of the TARDIS is very high and very authentic, from the interior display to the exterior lighting effects.

Just Fantastic!, April 9, 2008
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Doctor Who Electronic Flight Control Tardis Playset (Misc.)
This is a great addition to Who merchandise. everything about it is great, from the take off and landing sound f/x, the lighting f/x, interior, and more. Now only if the made a full size one.
That works too.
A great addition to any fan of The Doctor.

If your a doctor who fan you HAVE have this. its pretty durable, ive taken it out side and dropped it and left it in the rain and it still works like a charm. the detail in it is fantastic. its well worth the money i think. and amazon has it for the cheapest price that i could find and i looked all over. This a detailed reproduction, Not a Play Set, December 13, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Doctor Who Electronic Flight Control Tardis Playset (Misc.)
Whoever designed this Tardis was on the money.
I have several Tardis models and this one is light years ahead of anything else being offered at this time.
Calling this a "play set" does a disservice to the designers who created this highly detailed reproduction.
It is not a play set.
This link below leads to a play set:
Doctor Who - Tadis Playset
This is a highly detailed electronic model of the Tardis.
I hesitate to call it a computer model but the fact that it goes into sleep mode when left unattended for a few minutes is something my computer does.
Opening the door awakes the Tardis and all of its functions.
Some reviewers say the sound is not right.
Not so.
The sounds are on target.
The noticable difference is the interior sound.
The sound may be from the new Dr whO series which is quite different from the original.
I prefer the original methodic hum to the newer cloister bell sound effect used in the Electronic Tardis.
The doors do not close as smoothly as I would like but thats not a problem.
The machine makes various sounds and light effects for various movements of the Tardis.
The lighting effects are very impressive.
Not just a light on top but a lit interior and lit exterior windows.
The left door has a little telephone door that opens up to reveal a phone and the inside of the Tardis.
The Graphic inside the Tardis is from the new series.
I would have prefered the original interior if given a choice.
It is designed to give the look of bigger on the inside when you peak inside.
A child would love this Tardis but they would probably destroy it just playing with it.
Its not flimsy but I don't believe it would survive a child's imagination.
One of the things it is designed to do is spin around on your finger.
That will be the end of a lot of Tardises.
As I mentioned earlier the doors could also become a early casualty.
As a desk ornament, or conversation piece with occasional use this Tardis will probably last a life time.
Once again this is not a play set, It could be an addition to one but it is a one piece electronic device.
The Electronic Tardis bank would last longer in the hands of a child. It has light and sound effects, its a bank and its about half the price.
Doctor Who Electronic TARDIS Bank
I would recommend this Electronic Flight control Tardis for adult fans.
More of a collectors item than a toy, for serious fans of the show.

Essential, if overpriced, addition to your Doctor Who collection, January 18, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Doctor Who Electronic Flight Control Tardis Playset (Misc.)
If you're reading this, I think we can assume you are either a Doctor Who fan or you are shopping for someone who is. Either way, this toy is pretty much a must-have. Made in scale with the range of 5" WHO action figures, this replica of the famous time-travel ship is very impressive. A total of 8 sound effects can be heard by making the ship take off or land from a flat surface, shaking it while in "flight", or spinning it courtesy of the recessed mechanism on the bottom. Light glows from within, and the signature blue "police" light on top flashes. The doors open to reveal a painted interior.
As someone else has said, the sound effects seem slightly off from the "real" thing. But they're close enough, and the take off and landing sounds are randomly generated, providing variety. In addition, the toy seems pretty sturdy (at this point, I should admit that I'm a 40 year old man. . .I'm not sure how well this TARDIS will hold up in the hands of a spirited younger person).
If you can live with the hefty price tag, this is certainly a fine product.

Wow! - Still impressed a year later, December 26, 2008
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Doctor Who Electronic Flight Control Tardis Playset (Misc.)
Admittedly I was skeptical of buying a toy Tardis. My kids are 3 and 5, I wasn't sure if they'd appreciate it enough. BOY was I wrong! Since we gave it to them for the holidays, they have been fighting over it ever since! Every action figure we have has flown the Tardis (usually Spiderman...)
The sounds are not quite like they are on the show, but it's a TOY! Still great for a toy!
When switched on, there is a light that goes on inside as well as all the windows lighting up. My kids especially like the "turbulence" sound and spinning it on the axis on the bottom.
As I am writing this, the Tardis has just "materialized" next to me on the table.
The quality is surprisingly good! I was impressed at how sturdy it felt. Time will tell how durable it really is, but for now it works!
It does take 3 AAA batteries, which we normally don't have on hand. So if you are going to buy it, make sure to buy batteries too so your kids can play with it right away :)
I can't gush enough about this toy. A must for any Doctor Who fan!
And a hint, often it is cheaper to buy used and new on the British Amazon site. They ship to the US if you look :)
EDIT:
This is a year later and I thought I'd chime in about the long term durability. My kids play with this every day. Sometimes hours at a time. It's been dropped, shaken, you name it. My kids are not as gentle as they could be. But honestly, it's a space ship! It flies right? So far the push out phone has had one of the hinges snap off. This is easily fixed with some epoxy. Just glue it shut and tell the kids to make due. :) Also the light fixture is a vulnerable point. It's the perfect place for the kids to grab it and pick it up. After months of telling them to be gentle, and them not listening, it broke off the first time. I mistakenly used super glue. It lasted another few months before it snapped off again. This time I used epoxy and it seems to be holding up much better.
So the toy still works fantastically. It still gets played with every day. Some of the paint is smudging a bit but is still in good shape.
I would definitely buy this again. Especially for the play value. Just make sure you buy some epoxy to keep on hand for the little things :)

Childhood dream come true, March 8, 2010
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Doctor Who Electronic Flight Control Tardis Playset (Misc.)
Ever since I was kid watching Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker or Peter Davidson I've wished I could find an accurate, durable depiction of the TARDIS to put on display and this finally meets the requirements. The sounds are accurate, the toy itself is fairly durable and it looks good, especailly when lighting up as though taking off. The only way it could be cooler would be if it actually dematerialized and rematerialized, but we can't have everything. With my luck it would dematerialize and then break and be gone forever anyway.

Better than a scale model!, October 9, 2009
Durability: Fun: Educational:
This review is from: Doctor Who Electronic Flight Control Tardis Playset (Misc.)
I'm an adult fan of Doctor Who and have been since I was a young boy. So many times I would try make my own TARDIS model with moderate success. And, before the new series hit in 2005, TARDIS model kits were very hard to find. I bought the Airfix TARDIS model kit but am too lazy to put it together. This toy TARDIS comes pre-painted, pre-weathered, and it lights up just like wanted the MODEL kit to do. So, this was a GREAT purchase. I couldn't be happier to bring this TARDIS to work and have it on my desk. A+

Oops, August 1, 2010
This review is from: Doctor Who Electronic Flight Control Tardis Playset (Misc.)
So I love this. Absolutely. However I would never pay forty something dollars for it. I believe someone messed up because I only paid $8.52 for two of them. I think it is worth twenty but not much more. You have to manually spin it which I didn't realize. And for mine the sound doesn't come on when you shake it like the instructions say. It is bigger than the coin bank by quite a bit.
Overall it is a great addition to my Doctor Who stuff and it stores starbursts really well.
