5.0 out of 5 stars every camcorder needs one
What can I say.....you don't want to get caught without enough juice. So, you have to have the spare battery.....be sure to alternate.

3.0 out of 5 stars Original Canon batteries, way overpriced......as always
I own canon professional SLR's so I know from past experience Canon's policies about third party products that work with their stuff; they fight it tooth and nail and try to keep a monopoly on everything. My SLR's use the venerable 512 battery packs, fortunately somebody was able to reverse engineer those and sell them reasonably instead of the 80 plus dollars Canon...

I own canon professional SLR's so I know from past experience Canon's policies about third party products that work with their stuff; they fight it tooth and nail and try to keep a monopoly on everything. My SLR's use the venerable 512 battery packs, fortunately somebody was able to reverse engineer those and sell them reasonably instead of the 80 plus dollars Canon wants for an original pack. Don't get me wrong, Canon makes good stuff they just have a really inflated view of what folks are able to pay for things if you ask me. I love my FS100 it's a great camcorder, well worth what I paid for it but the battery packages are outrageously priced for it. Right after we bought the camcorder bestbuy started offering an outfit that included a second battery for what amounts to a bargain...unfortunately I missed out on that. You can find japanese versions of these batteries on ebay but they DO NOT HAVE THE ELECTRONICS in the pack so the camera cannot detect charge and they will not charge on the camera...so far only canon has this battery with all the electronics in it for sale. I bought a third party charger, one of the new batteries I bought (I got two) will not charge on that unit but it does on the camera. Most of us never shoot more than two hours of video anyway(which is battery life in middle quality mode, maybe be shorter in highest quality mode). I feel these batteries are way overpriced and canon needs to stop being quite so stuffy about licensing tech specs so others can sell stuff too...but they do work as advertised and do last as long as they are supposed to in everyday use.

This product was received and operated as expected. It is a compliment for the Canon FS11. The camcorder will operate approximately 90 minutes on a full charge. Having a spare is almost manditory. I have been able to continue recording while one battery charges.

Just like the original in my FS100, and even came with a plastic snap-cover. It's great to have a spare battery and external charger.

This is the original Canon replacement ION Battery (BP-808). The price was approximately 37% less than Canon's Suggested retail price. It will display all the information the original battery does, and it will charge in the Camcorder.

Works just like the OEM battery that came with my Vixia HG20 HD cam. Having the ability for the camera to "talk" to the battery to provide battery information and capacity status is important for me. However, this is pricier than the basic non-OEM battery.

The only thing I did not like about the BP-808 is that it is thinner than the OEM BP-807 so when installed on the cam, it is not flushed with the cam body and doesn't look as slick.

1.0 out of 5 stars bad bad battery, April 20, 2009

The FS100 camcorder-great! Amazon -great too! What's bad is the Canon battery. I bought a backup BP808 battery from Frys Electronics for about $80. It went bad in 1 month. I took it back and they replaced it...great! Now, 5 months later, it happened again and they say call Canon, as they aren't doing anything with it.Canon says they don't warranty batteries. 'So you mean to tell me I have a camcorder that only takes a certain battery that they make, and even if it lasts a week they won't replace?' And they said," yes, but we'll log your complaint". Darn right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beware of aftermarket batteries for Canon FS, January 21, 2010

I recently purchased a Canon FS 200 which came with a Canon BP-808 battery. At the time of purchase, I also bought two after-market spare batteries (labled "CTA Canon DB-BP808) with charger and two 16 GB flash cards. The Canon battery communicates with the camera so you always know how much recording time you have left. That's a useful feature but not an absolutely necessary one. The real problem with the aftermarket batteries is that, every time I turn the camera on, I get a pop-up message telling me that the camera cannot communicate with the battery and asking if I want to use the battery that is in the camera. That means, every time I turn on the camera, I have to push the toggle right (to choose "yes") and depress the toggle switch to select "yes" - two extra steps to complicate what should be a simple start up. Especially cumbersome when wearing gloves. I recommend the real Canon batteries.

1.0 out of 5 stars Battery is dead, October 9, 2009

I ordered this battery, went right to Europe for a month and when we got there the battery didn't work at all. The battery won't even charge or hold a charge. I'm hoping that the seller will give me a new battery. I'm hoping that this will help me find the right person to talk to about this.
